Hope all the kids with fevers get well soon. Hope you all are safe slenle. Yay for new clothes! wedding Also one of my pet peeves when I'm around someone and they are gasping EVERY TIME my kid moves. If I'm not worried about him, you shouldn't be. He's a kid, not a piece of fine China. 🙄 The only time I play with M at the park is if we're alone. If there is any other kids, he announces he is going to play with his friends.

csho 😳 that's bizarre, maybe the teen was a sitter who was instructed by a parent...? I was that thinking siblings or step siblings with an unhealthy relationship and without much parental guidance. There was a lot of anger there and they were pretty aggressive and physical with each other as they were leaving.

Not much going on for us today. I'm hoping to get a few things accomplished around the house. I might take M to swim later. I hope there's no one else at the pool. I would hate to scare them off with my belly. I didn't buy any maternity suits. 😬

Very bizarre csho. Poor kid. I also get being a helicopter parent in certain situations. If any of our parks, or anywhere M was playing, were very crowded or busy, then I would probably be. We went to Legoland in ATL a few months back and I was a nervous wreck. So. Many. Kids. And a lot of them were way too big to be in the play area and playing very rough, so I was following him like a hawk. Never again going to a place like that on a Saturday afternoon. Wtf was I thinking??

I have no problem with helicopter parents. Dh is more so than I am but has gotten better as C as gotten older. I just don't need someone else helicoptering my kid.
I play with C at the playground if I have to but I always hope he makes a friend.

Other parents need to leave my kid alone unless we are there together and I know them, my kid is playing with theirs or my kid injures herself and they get to them faster than me. Otherwise, leave her be, she's good.

Depending on the park situation I will follow H. Most of the time though, I sit on the side with S or push her in the swing. DH is on top of H the whole time.
I agree though that other people can MTOB unless they are saving my child from an actual injury.

Just spent the last 2 hours going back and forth with mh's sister on whether or not they were actually going to be home for dinner. We were invited, but apparently they went golfing and needed to postpone by an hour. Ok... Then, they cancelled. That made my kid cry. Then, back on. And now nope, not going. It's so frustrating trying to set any plans with them.

When I had 1 kid I was a helicopter parent. I can see it in them. My oldest, at almost 10 still takes my hand to cross the street. T on the other hand, insists he is a big boy and he can stay home alone (no he hasn't).
I had to approach a group of parents at the park a few weeks ago. DH and I were there with our kids and there was a big group of parents at picnic tables whose kids were playing on the playground. One of the boys who was maybe 6 kept telling the other kids he was going to pee on them and then proceeded to take out his penis and aim it at the other kids. After 3 or 4 times, I approached the group of parents and announced "whoever is in charge of the boy in the green shirt needs to stop him from exposing himself to others." Then we left.

I'm sorry, vino. That sounds really frustrating. Does she come every weekend? Would taking a week off help? kim22, that's awesome! Do your kids go to the same district?

While I helicopter parent my kid I leave other kids alone. I really only helicopter parent because LO is pretty strong and sometimes forgets how strong he is. Sometimes other kids get hurt. He doesn't mean to, he's just strong.

I just called the local pool near my parents house because I know they have a baby pool and it's going to be hot out there. I asked about the hours and age limit. Is it odd they don't have an age limit? I was older when I moved out there (2nd grade) so I never used the baby pool.

I already had volunteered to revise unit tests tomorrow and rework pacing charts Tuesday out of my building when I saw the weather forecast. Downside of work not knowing I'm pregnant is no one gives a crap that my room will be over 100.

Is it odd they don't have an age limit? I was older when I moved out there (2nd grade) so I never used the baby pool. Not necessarily. Our community pool had a splash pad and a zero-entry area that were clearly designed for little kids but there was no hard and fast rule. My parents' club has a separate shaded baby pool but again, no limits. All three areas are tame enough that older kids would likely get bored; I can also think of situations (an older child who is disabled or can't swim, for ex) where they might not want a rule in place in case there are extenuating circumstances.

One of the pools we go to have a baby pool and they have an age guideline. It's not a rule but they use the guideline in case a bigger kid is being too rough or pushy. I assumed most places have something like that.

tgrimes I love your in laws. I try not to be a helicopter parent but now I have to follow Z around because she will go down the biggest slide and fall off it at the end if I don't catch her. O will then follow us around as well. I get so excited when he plays with other kids but sometimes he doesn't want to. Also, the older kids tend to be mean to younger kids. I've witnessed girls like 6 or 7 asking a group of kids if they can join in a game of tag and the kids will either say no or ignore them even though they are two feet away. I wish those parents were paying a little better attention so they can tell their kid to stop being such an asshole.

Although I wouldn't expect anyone older than like 7 would want to swim in a foot deep of water.
