Season 2 is out and I have to say it is an amazingly done show. I like how it is promoting dialog and breaking down the issues. Anyone else watching it on Netflix?

Just started season one. Episode one was slow because it was basically a recap of the movie. I have a feeling the demographics for this show is decidedly younger than me, but I will keep watching.

I didn't know it was a movie. The show is very well done. It is taylored to a younger audience but you can definitely understand the issues and the conflicts.

I'm still in the beginning of season 2. I'm having trouble getting into it. I really liked season 1 though (I didn't know it was a movie)

I am not a big fan of this secret society story line. It seems a bit... goofy? Don't love it. And I am not liking Sam any better this season than I did the last. She is just so self-centred. She gives so little back to Joelle, I don't know why they are still friends. Joelle is smart and beautiful and always stuck playing second fiddle.
I love Lionel getting to be a fully sexual being. Most shows shy away from honest portrayals of gay sexuality. I love Lionel, and am happy to see him grow into himself. I also love Troy as wingman. Lionel and Troy have a cite friendship.
I also love Coco, and am glad she chose herself and her own dreams.
I am not sure how I feel about the Silvio thing. I know they were trying to make him like that Milo guy from Breitbart, but it feels like a strange turn for the character. But I don't care about him enough to have strong feelings.
Gabe looks gross. He needs to reconsider that hair.

I agree Joelle is all over support for her but Sam constantly cuts her off and tells her what to do an how to think. I do have to say we did have to look up what a "Imhotep" is. I am also enjoying Lionel and Troys dynamics but not really enjoying Troy's rebirth. It seems to be falling flat and his character is not really as needed as it used to be. I have mixed feelings on Coco. I think she can be very disrespectful and self centered but she lets her guard down she can be a feeling and supportive person. I agree the whole Silvio thing as a full 360. I figured they should have made a bigger deal about it instead of just shrugging it off. Its a big issue but was completely different then how I read Silvio to be and the type of person he is. I really like Reggie's character and how he knows the right thing and does that but still has fun messing with people. Jury is still out on Gabe. BTW. F the cop.

I think the reason why I like Coco and don't like Sam, is that Coco is pretty self-aware about putting her interests first. Sam's sense of moral superiority combined with her oblivious selfishness rubs me the wrong way. I don't think I would be friends with Coco, but I respect her game.
Troy is failing a bit as a character, I agree. But Lionel is my fave, and I love them as friends.
I can understand Silvio being against perceived hypersensitivity, but saying that racist shit did not seem in character with what came before. I don't know... I would have rather it been a new character than use him.

I just binged on this over the weekend- I am still wrecked about the letter that Sam got from her dad. Which is my own baggage- but this show is so well written!

I think that Sam is very self absorbed which makes it tough for me to love her. Lionel on the other hand is easily my favorite character.

He needs to reconsider that hair. That was the point tho. The racist in most of these stories is the big bad Aryan. But there are people from marginalized groups who actively participate in white supremacy, even when it's not in their best interest.
