J is four... She turns 5 next Friday. HOLD ME.
Get us out of dance class! Final recital is Saturday - thank goodness.
And we register J for kindergarten next week! I'm anxious about aftercare. Her school day is basically from 8-3, so she'd only be at the on-site aftercare for about an hour, maybe 1.5 hours. The aftercare is in the school cafeteria and they have tutors and teachers to help with homework, they play games, etc. IDK, I guess I'm nervous about her being there for some reason. Probably just my nerves about her being in elementary school in general. How did this happen so fast?!
I'm doing okay. Things are back to normal speed at work. And my mom's health issues are possibly under control. She has a big surgery on the 15th that we're all pretty nervous about, but FX it fixes the issues she's been dealing with.
Also having some loss feelings coming up. My first rainbow turns 5 next week. My first angel should have turned 5 this past August. Just a lot to think about, lots of stirred up feelings.
QOTW: J used to walk around in my shoes all the time and pretend to be Mommy. Gosh, she was so cute... toppling over in my 'hiked heals.'

DS1 (7) is on a field trip to the zoo this week. He was so excited this morning. He's had a very good week. We've been outside a lot and seeing behavior improvements here too. He finally got to ride his horse (and OMG it's love), and I let him skip school yesterday to spend extra time with my dad. H instituted "family game night Friday" about a month ago, and DS1 is very excited about that too. H had this big eye-opening moment about DS1 growing up too fast, so he wanted to start the family tradition now before DS1 wants to spend Friday nights with his friends instead How am I? Okay. My dad's COPD is worsening, and I got too good of a picture this week of what the future is going to hold for him. Between that and what should have been Adair's fifth birthday Monday, I'm feeling melancholy. QOTW: When he was a toddler, we had to spend a lot of time avoiding people because of his immunity. Any morning I'd put a sweater on him instead of pajamas, he'd call it an "adventure day" because he knew we'd get to leave the house. We lived right next to a tiny elementary school, and his beloved neighbor kid would walk by our house every morning on the way to school. DS1 would run to the window, open it, and yell, "JAKOB, IT'S AN ADVENTURE DAY!"
