Re drop off parties; starting age 5 this is the norm over here... I’m dreading it. That's the thing, I'm not really dreading it. I'm ok leaving him, what I'm weird about is being awkward when i dont know what to do. I dont know why people wont communicate a clear message! lol That would bug me too! But non clear communication annoys the hell out of me in any and all situations.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm honestly shocked at myself that I'm making something out of this, I cant wait until school starts and there are aprox 154564 more times to feel this way.

I meant to say this in my post above, but yes, I know the anxious feeling of thinking you've done something awkward or 'missed the memo' and replaying it 735 times in your head. But srsly, don't beat yourself up. The hosts should have been more clear. I feel like our N13 kids are just approaching that in-between age where it can go either way.

So, on Saturday B had a 5th birthday party to go to. We get there just shortly after 1pm, the first ones there. I go in, take off my shoes, put my purse down, say hi to the parents etc. The other parents come and drop off their kids. Like it was known that it was a drop off party. So there I was, looking like an idiot and total helicopter Mom, which I most certainly am not. It was embarrassing and days later I'm still annoyed and cant stop thinking about it, I need to let it go. Was this something that i was just supposed to know? Did they get an different response form the RSVP? Should I have left when I realized that it was a drop off party, clearly the parents arent going to tell me to leave at this point. it was all too much. Why am i soooooo socially awkward sometimes?! So I RSVP'd for a bowling party and asked specifically of it was a drop off or parents stay party, because I think it's fair to ask for a 5 year olds party, and she took a while to respond and said "Drop off-I didnt book enough lanes for everyone to stay. I hope that's ok'. Great, so now I'm the Mom that cant read 'clues'. OMG why cant people just put it on the invite. Are 5 year old birthdays considered drop off age? /rant over I have not had a single drop off party yet. I am by no means a helicopter mom, however, I do not feel like my 4 year old is ready for a drop off party. I can't picture him, at a bowling party, stopping and going - by himself - to the bathroom??? Like, what?? I would not be comfortable with this. ETA I just reread your post and I see that you are not really asking if we'd be comfortable with it, but more so if we would assume it. No, I would never assume a party at this age was drop off

I haven't read today. Yesterday was terrible -- we had a meltdown at school and then drive back to Connecticut was just awful for the first 20 minutes. A tree fell on a cable wire at our house so they were out here late last night taking care of it, and I got to bed way later than I wanted to because of it. Regardless of all of that, today is a brand new day. It's gorgeous out here so we've been spending lots of time outside, and it's MH's birthday so I've got yummy food in the oven, and some delicious peanut butter balls chilling in the fridge. I'll be back to read later. I hope everyone is having a nice day.

That looks really good mamabear! vino I think it is always should be an option for a parent to stay at parties and never weird if a parent chooses to. Especially when we are talking elementary and below age. So it’s not weird that you stayed! And it’s not weird to ask if it’s drop off. So you’re not weird or awkward! It’s also very situational if I will drop my kid off or not. So yeah.

mamabear The deck looks great! peachsmama Congrats on the house, looking to seeing it all finished. Good luck with your toilet free evening mwhip 😬 vino +whatever to that being something I would do. Not sure how the other parents knew it was drop off. Oh well, you live and learn and FTR, they should have said something! Even once you were all settled in, like "Please know you are more than welcome to stay, but we don't mind if you just wanted to drop off either". Also, I would not found it odd that a parent of a young child might want to stick around.

So, remember when I told you guys my H might be offered another promotion back in like Jan or Feb? All the necessary approvals and reorgs FINALLY went through and he got the offer today! WOOT! Just in time for me you buy some floors 😉
Today I have been tackling mountains of laundry, including lots of itty bitty baby clothes. Are they really that little when they are born?

My mom and I ran errands and had lunch. Also stopped in Sherwin Williams to look at paint colors. The guy there helped me find a true grey that I love! And a yellow for my front door. Now I just you know, need a basement to put my house on..

vino M had her party at Snip its and the room was very small. I told all of the parents it was up to them if they wanted to stay or not. Only one mom stayed the whole time. Most of them came back in an hour so they could see them in their outfits with their hair done. One of the moms apparently always just drops her kids off at parties. I only know this because I ended up having to keep an eye on her child at a trampoline place. She kept darting off in different directions. M is friends with her so she was always worried about where she ran off to. I would not feel comfortable dropping M off at a bowling alley, trampoline place or at someone's house that I didn't know yet.

Ok. So now that I officially know that it is a drop off party for the 12th at the bowling alley and they are not expecting me to stay. Do I stay anyways? Or just circle the area in case of an emergency like a weirdo for 2.5 hours.....kidding....sort of?
make decisions for me N13, TIA.

The allergist saga:
10:05am- I was called back into the room. The nurse said the doctor would be right in. 10:25am- I was about to pee on myself but i was scared if I left the room the doctor would come in. I found the nurse and asked if I could use the restroom. She seemed surprised the doctor hadn't come in yet. 10:35am- The nurse comes back in the room to apologize. Apparently there was some confusion and the doctor was with another patient. I asked if the wait was normally this long because I'd been there for 2 hrs. 10:45am- A different doctor comes into the room and says he'd be happy to take over the appt since we had been waiting for so long.

vino for me it would depend on the bowling alley. Like my cousins son had his at our little small town one. It's 4 lanes and all enclosed, no area to run off to. I would be okay with parents I knew really well. But most are like 20-30 lanes and have an arcade attached. I would not be okay with dropping off at a place like that. To many places for them to escape to.

The allergist said I should go ahead with the surgery. If H still gets sick a lot, then I'll go back for allergy testing. He said a lot of times removing the adenoids makes a big difference. They usually don't do allergy testing until 2, unless they have asthma, several nebulizer prescriptions, constant wheezing, breathing issues or hospitalizations due to breathing issues. He said I could do the testing today if I wanted to, but he wouldn't recommend putting H through that right now.

Probably what I personally would do is take him, have him use the bathroom when you get there, maybe stay for a few minutes and see how things are going (is it well-supervised, are other parents leaving, etc.) and assuming all is well and other parents have left too, head out.

vino, B seems like a really good kid. I would drop him and go do some errands or go home. Now if it were my kid I would give the parents fair warning of his shenanigans and ask if they would rather I stay. But he is a daredevil on his best days and a total asshat on his worst.

Tonight is our first TBall practice. I am going to leave work a smidge early and hit the McD's drive thru for a happy meal so he can eat in the car between picking him up from school and practice. It ends at 7 and I am sure he will be a sweaty mess so then we will have to bathe and get him to bed. Last night he wet the bed for the first time ever overnight. He stopped mid stream but it was not fun changing sheets at 2am since DH never replaced the 2nd layer after the last accident. Then C was all upset this morning because I had to wake him and rush out the door so he couldn't watch a show on tv. He watched the same show on my phone in the car but was upset I didn't wake him early enough. Hopefully that doesn't mean he will wake up early tomorrow.
