GUISE! MY HOUSE IS DONE! Of course we have no basement to put it on yet but it's ready! As soon as the basement is done it can be delivered! Then I can start painting and moving stuff in while they finish it out and build our garage! I don't think I knew it was being built off site. What does done mean? Does it have kitchen cabinets and stuff or does that come later? That is very exciting! I didn’t realize this either. That’s so exciting!! I thought you still had a long way to go!

mwhip , I really can't imagine they are going to leave you in a toilet-less house. I'm sure they plan to put one back in at night. Or since your mom lives 4 minutes away, can you guys stay there? Would you need to bring the dogs or could you leave them if you take them out right before you leave and right when you get back in the AM? I pee a lot, so sleeping in a house without a toilet is not an option. Just the thought of not being able to go, makes me have to go. In fact, since I've been typing this, I think I have to pee now. From what I read online, the grout takes 24 hours to set up, before you can put the toilet back. I will pay extra for a faster setting grout, if possible. And we actually have to remove and put the toilets back, Home Depot only contracts the actual tile placement. So my step dad is goingt o do that for me, since H is conveniently out of town that night. I called the lady from the install company and haven't heard back. We could stay at my moms, my dogs would be okay overnight, it's just a PITA, although running back and forth is going to be as well. I don't really pee often in the middle of the night, but when I wake up, GOTTA GO! I'll also cut way back on how much I drink, which sucks because I drink A LOT of water during the day. @klongoria, I considered the sink, tub, or shower. I am not above any of them.

peachsmama I'm assuming you ordered a pre-fab home? My brother and sister in law did that, they showed us the pictures of when the house was delivered, so cool how they bring it in in large sections and put it together.

Does it have kitchen cabinets and stuff or does that come later? That is very exciting! It's a modular build. So it was built in Virginia. Everything is installed and already in the house except what I omitted. So no kitchen sink, counters or faucet. No bathroom counters, sink or faucet and no appliances. That is all stuff I will pick out and have the builder install here. We went with a modular because they had our perfect floor plan, it's faster (lol to our delays) and 20% stronger than a stick build home. Because it's made to be moved, all the floors are double beamed.

I'm assuming that's the same? We're setting up a go pro to record the whole process.

That looks great mamabear ! It's a reminder that we need to pressure wash and restain our deck this summer. Not looking forward to that... I talked to my boss about working from home next Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. She was okay with it, so I'm going to have IT setup remote access from my laptop. I hate to use PTO to sit at my house watching contractors, so hopefully this works out! H can only stay home Friday (of course) and he's going to be out of town the night of no toilets. He told me I should get a hotel room Monday night...I told him the idea of 2 dogs, a 4yr old and myself, in a hotel, sounds like fresh hell. I'd rather be in a toilet less house. We once had one bathroom and had it gutted but I told the contractor he must reinstall the old toilet every night if he wanted the job. We had a toilet and a camping lantern in a gutted room each night but it worked. LOL. The biggest fight I have ever witnessed b/n my parents was the year they had a ton of work done on the vacation house. Things move...slowly up there, so my dad decided things would get a move-on if the contractor knew we were en route for the summer. Mom was skeptical. We arrived and there was no working bathroom, no septic tank, no driveway, and all the ceilings were wide open. They had a knock-down/drag-out, Mom took us girls to a really nice resort, and left Dad at the house with the dog and the Porta-Potty out back.

Morning. We are playing outside. My house is a disaster and in need of a really good deep clean. I picked up the girls room this morning but still need to vacuum in there. My neighbor mowed yesterday and now our yard looks like shit. DH has softball tonight so I guess it’s going to look like this until tomorrow night. tgrimes I hope the doctor is with you now.

So, on Saturday B had a 5th birthday party to go to. We get there just shortly after 1pm, the first ones there. I go in, take off my shoes, put my purse down, say hi to the parents etc. The other parents come and drop off their kids. Like it was known that it was a drop off party. So there I was, looking like an idiot and total helicopter Mom, which I most certainly am not. It was embarrassing and days later I'm still annoyed and cant stop thinking about it, I need to let it go. Was this something that i was just supposed to know? Did they get an different response form the RSVP? Should I have left when I realized that it was a drop off party, clearly the parents arent going to tell me to leave at this point. it was all too much. Why am i soooooo socially awkward sometimes?!
So I RSVP'd for a bowling party and asked specifically of it was a drop off or parents stay party, because I think it's fair to ask for a 5 year olds party, and she took a while to respond and said "Drop off-I didnt book enough lanes for everyone to stay. I hope that's ok'. Great, so now I'm the Mom that cant read 'clues'. OMG why cant people just put it on the invite.
Are 5 year old birthdays considered drop off age?

I KNOW!!! this is me, what if he poops and needs help, do i just assume that the parents are going to take care of things like that. And to boot, a grandma walked up to the house, dropped off the kid and said 'oh and C has allergies to nuts, like all nuts'...I would be LIVID if i were the host. This past Saturday was at a persons house, with a mascot, and B hates mascots, that's kinda why I didnt even think about leaving, he did great BTW but I didnt know that at 1pm. And on the 12th is at a bowling alley.

I feel if I hadn't been at the bowling party we went to Cadence would have taken off down the alley and busted her ass or ran off to the arcade and been lost/stolen.

You all and your birthday parties, make me so glad Evie doesn't go to school with other kids yet. I can't handle these type of situations either vino. I would never assume they were drop off parties at this age, unless I knew the parents really well. But I also don't want parents leaving a bunch of 4 year olds with just me to wrangle. No thank you ma'm!

vino I’m okay with drop off parties at this age... most of the time. I dropped n off at a friends party a couple months ago but they have been going to each other’s parties for 2 year so we are comfortable with it. But lol at the mom who had her daughter ask me if N could go to her “sleeping party” this summer. So a sleep over, and i think they live out of town a ways. And i don’t know you.. at all. No thank you!

So, as I was sitting there trying not to be in the way, I realized that they really dont need that much supervision, they played fine together, listened to the parents as they directed the next activity or time to eat etc. I was actually pretty easy for the host.

Parents are still attending parties at this age in our area.
I would only be comfortable with a drop-off party at this point if we knew the family fairly well. I 100% trust B to behave and act right, I just don’t trust other adults 😂
I would say at 5 or 6, depending on specific party circumstances, I would be more comfortable with dropping off.
I think the host should make it clear—probably upon RSVP—whether parents are expected/invited to stay or go. I.e, “feel free to drop Johnny off if you have errands to do in the area!” Or similar

I mean, I can remember my mom and aunt taking me and a couple preschool friends to a movie for my birthday when I was in Pre-K (so 4-turning-5).
By kindergarten it was all or mostly drop-off parties. We were at a private school where everyone knew everyone, though, so there was definitely a comfort level there.

Lol NO to a drop off party at a public place like a bowling alley with a bunch of 5yo's. If it's only 5 or less kids total, maybe I could see that, but more than that. Not even. I would be okay with a drop off party at a house if I knew the parents/family well enough. Don't be hard on yourself, vino. I think I would have done and feel the same if I had been in that situation. Also, yes, they could have mentioned that in the invite.
