Hi, I have an apple tree that was very neglected for a long time. Since we moved here, we have been trying to get it back in good health. I just noticed it has some weird growth of some kind and was hoping someone would know what it was and if there is any way to get rid of it. Thank in advance for your help

It looks like mushrooms or some sort of fungus

It’s definitely a fungus, looks like what I would call a turkey tail mushroom. I don’t have experience with apple trees, but a fungicide might work. I’d do some research or ask someone at a local nursery for help to determine the right treatment plan. Good luck!

I would bring a picture to the county extension office or your local independent garden center and they should be able to tell you how to treat it.

Thanks for the advice ladies! I hadn't even thought of taking a pic to the local nursery. Unfortunately on further inspection, it really doesn't look good and I think the tree will have to come down
