flamingo I think your approach is mostly common around here..I rarely see signs of pets at all. I'm not sure about this house, it was an odd situation. There were 6 kids beds and the parents bed seemed to be an inflatable bed. I assume they are banking on the current seller's market here and good schools.

H and I spent the day garage sale-ing and then going to a million stores to look at couches without time constraints. We wore ourselves out and ended up axing going out for dinner in favor of getting take out and binging the Handmaid's Tale. #olds
Today his buddy comes to help him drywall the basement ceiling and I'm going to attempt to take the kids to soccer on my own this afternoon😬
In other news, I got the perfect statue as a memorial for our dog the other day. I had looked online and didn't love anything, and I remembered a statuary I used to visit as a kid that is thankfully still around. When I got there they were closed, but the 90 year old owner let me and the kids in. He told us with stories of the family business and how they have been there for 40 years, and they cast their own molds, and how his son runs it now. I found a little statue on a dusty shelf that had one ear up and one ear down, just like our dog! The man handwrote me a receipt with beautiful illustrations on it, and I was struck by how these businesses truly are disappearing. It was such lovely, personal experience and I don't want artisan shops to go the way of bookstores. I have not recovered from that yet 😢

tallb We had some horror stories too. My house was in rough shape, but it was a situation with a single mom with two boys who just could not keep up with it. We saw so many homes, for more money, where I wondered how people could live in them. The pets and smokers were the worst. Sometimes a house smelled so bad I would have to leave. I am really hoping the pocket listing turns out to be a gem or the right house is around the corner for you guys. Don't get discouraged! I'm okay with some work, I'd rather that than a flipped house with everything quickly updated. The things people list and some of the prices🤯. At our price point we are actually sometimes competing with builders that will pay a ton for the land so they can tear down the house and put new build and sell for triple.. I'm glad you guys got a good one!

Morning!! I assume tee-ball is cancelled again because it's been raining all morning. Poor Colin is never going to have his first game!
He does have his last skating lesson of this session and we need to grocery shop, but that's about it.

I think the stairs would be a dealbreaker for me too, tallb. I hope something else works out for you.

@dapostraphe funny you mention the bookstore thing. SD is struggling with future careers and college. Last week she mentioned that she wants to open a bookstore and MH said that was akin to going into the wagon business after the automobile was invented. She is struggling between her art passion (drawing portraits) and a paying career.

Hi!
The past few days have been busy, so we are just enjoying a relaxing morning around here. Our sitter is coming at 2:30 so DH and I can go see "A Quiet Place", and then I think we're going to grill burgers for dinner. Not a bad Sunday.

I'm picky enough that half the time I look at re-do's and there's stuff I'd want to change--do not want to pay for newly updated features that I want to rip out and replace!

cagoldi I hope X is much better today. dapostrophe aw. It sounds like you found the perfect way to honor the memory of your sweet pup. trtlcrzy she looks so cute! And I'm impressed with the princesses in your area--particularly Anna and Moana. We have a Mulan here who looks like she could be Mulan's grandma. Cass is totally into the boyfriend thing. She always tells me in a singsong voice that "Trevor is my boyfriend." "I want to dress fancy for Trevor." "I'm going to marry Trevor." That girl. Sunny41 tell her not to stress about it now. She's still young. Although personally, when she gets older I'd encourage her to go the practical route and have the portraits be a side gig. I'm the worst at the pursuing your dreams thing. I'm all about a job that guarantees $$$ and then put your passion and love into your hobbies.

Cass about 3 inches from my face, "why do you still sleep in the mornings?" Well I don't anymore kid!
Soccer went really well yesterday. Same coach for both girls and he's a semi-pro soccer player. Cass got a bloody nose but she still got back out there. They both were the top 2 when playing Fish vs. Pirahnas. Maddie went balls to the wall as I expected. She really loves it. It's cute watching my husband too because he goes crazy cheering for them.
Today Farmers market and rollerskating.

Dh took C to ninja class so I’m enjoying coffee in peace. I may got for a pedi soon or I may just stay in my jams on the couch. They will be home by noon so I feel like I should enjoy the quiet. It’s cold and rainy today so I see an indoor playground in our future.

klong11 wahoo for finding a dollhouse! I have a fanceh one I've had since I was a girl. It's a 3-story Victorian from a kit. It needs a lot of repairing from damage from moves over the years but mostly in great shape. It's been in the back of Cass' closet for years under a blanket and the girls have never even asked what's under there. Scott told them about it so I showed it to them yesterday. Maddie thought it was going to be "creepy" but was very impressed but said she didn't think they were responsible enough for it now and maybe when they're teenagers. Cadence is going to love it. Way to go uncle.

inthekitty Cass sounds like a tough cookie getting back out on the field after a bloody nose! My son is younger, I think, but that might be the end of the season for us 😉 Sunny41 Your SD sounds like a girl after my own heart. Luckily, there are plenty of paying jobs in the arts!

Cass about 3 inches from my face, "why do you still sleep in the mornings?" Well I don't anymore kid! Yes, B requests that I be awake in the morning when he wakes up--like, he wants us already up and at 'em, as opposed to having to come get us out of bed. Sorry, kid, I am staying in bed for every last second that I can.

Thanks guys. Sounds like H had lots of fun at the dance. Today it’s supposed to get to 71, but there are 20+ mph winds. I have to work again this afternoon. I don’t know what S’s deal is but she’s been very crabby this morning.

Last night at 8.02pm B:I’m so tired I’m going to sleep for a long, long time. Me: ok perfect, it’s Sunday so a stay at home day This morning at 5:52am, creepily standing at my bedside B: ok, I’m done sleeping
I need to work on the definition of ‘long, long time’ with him.
Eta: I see I’m not the only one dealing with a kid questioning sleep time

Good morning, I’m celebrating my 38th birthday by taking care of a sick kid.😞. S coughed so much she vomited again early this morning. Only problem was that I still had the “temporary “ sheets on with no mattress pad from her motn puking night before last. So I have scrubbed the mattress (it didn’t leak through too bad) and bathed the kid and re-made the bed with fresh bedding to include the mattress protector! She also had a 102.5 fever and had numerous seizures this morning (at least 8 that I saw each lasting 1-2 minutes). But her fever is now down and she’s not had a seizure in about 2 hours. She perked up with some Gatorade and Motrin. But is now napping on the couch.
And although we had our 15 year wedding anniversary the other day, today we also celebrate 22 years together from when we officially started dating. So tonight we are grilling some filet mignon for dinner and relaxing at home....with a sick kid. Fun times.
