My first was a winter baby so I'm having a bit of a brain freeze about this. Will my newborn June baby still wear long sleeves and long pants? Or should I have some short sleeve items too? I just went through the newborn size clothes I have and it's basically about 6 footie pjs in cotton, 4 long sleeve onesies, 2 or 3 kimono style tops, and 3 or 4 pairs of long pants. I have 1 short sleeve onesie as well. I live in NC, so it can get pretty hot in June, but of course we'll probably be running the AC in the house. I do have more short sleeve stuff in 3 month size, and if this baby is like her big brother, she'll probably move to that size in July. Do you think I need to buy any cooler clothing?
Also, if anyone has cute going home outfits that they want to post pics of, I'd be happy to ooh and aah over them!

tinydancer, I would say you are good for NB clothes. I found tiny babies to be always cold even when out outside (i live in SoCal). However, I have mainly short sleeves and rompers in 3 months size because by July, my DD1 (born in June) was temperature regulated and it was hot. I don’t really have a going home outfit, she will just wear pyjamas. I do have a matching big sister/little sister set combined with a cute hat for our newborn pics, and 2 other cute hats and matching plain swaddles for those. I am most probably buying those booties also to go with the hats.

I’m in TX, but I have some long sleeve items in both NB and 0-3 because the air will be on. It’ll be in the 90s when she’s little, but we won’t be spending a ton of time outside. DS was born in October, but it was still 70s-80s. He wore a lot of long sleeve onesies and I cuddled him in fluffy blankets. ETA: more short sleeve stuff in 0-3 months is consistent with our clothes too. We bought this for her going home outfit:

I think the rule of thumb with (most) newborns/infants is one more layer than what you are comfortable in at the time. So if YOU are comfortable is shorts & a tee shirt, the baby will be comfortable in pants and a long sleeve onesie or a tee shirt & swaddle.
My kids (so far) run hot (H is a werewolf) and were the opposite and needed one less layer of clothing than I had on.

DD was a mid May baby and we live near DC, so hot/humid. I had a couple of long sleeve nb outfits but she basically got no use out of them and I'm assuming this baby won't either. The couple times I put her in them she got super overheated. Personally, having been through NC summers, I'd get a few nb things in short sleeves.
With DD I loved baby legs if she was just wearing a onesie, super easy to slide on if we went into the AC. She did wear a fair amount of the footed sleepers if we were just hanging inside in the AC all day. I also loved rompers and would just bring a light blanket for indoor warmth. For sleep since we used swaddles I would have her wear a baby gown or side snap tshirt and a diaper under them.

DS was an October baby so we're in the same boat. I live in Louisiana and our summers are terrible. I think I have 4 pairs of NB pants, 6 long sleeves, and 2 footed pajamas which is all probably too much for a newborn size anyways. I figure he'll spend a good bit of time swaddled at first anyways.

This is exactly how my toddler is - he's sweating in a t shirt and I'm wearing a sweatshirt.

I have a mix of short and long sleeve for my april/may babies who have all been born in the mojave. Outside it's all shortsleeve onesie and a blanket to throw on top if they get a little cold.

DS1 was a May baby. We spent most of our time indoors with the air on so he had lots of one piece sleepers. I bought one or two new shorts/short sleeve outfits in 3M and have a few from DS1. I’m just praying these kids are similar sized!

My first was a January baby and this one will be June so basically opposite seasons. I went through DS’s stuff and picked out a few things I thought would be okay but most of it was fleece so I went ahead and got some short sleeve onesies and cotton sleepers so she wouldn’t overheat. Depending on what you have from the first time around it couldn’t hurt to get a few additional lighter outfits in case overheating is an issue.
