So if it comes out that Dr Ronny is not a swell guy, how long do you think it will take Trump to blame Obama

Just occurred to me - please tell me we aren’t serving well-done steak with ketchup and one scoop of vanilla ice cream for everyone but Trump at tonight’s dinner...

So Trump will claim he had no idea and Obama should have fired him.

So Trump will claim he had no idea and Obama should have fired him. That's exactly what will happen

I am really irritated by this article lauding Melania. So she’s putting on a nice state dinner? And look, OTHER First Ladies hires consultantes but SHE has planned it all herself. Well I guess she has had time since she does absolutely nothing else prior First Ladies have done in terms of involvement. 🙄 www.cnn.com/2018/04/24/politics/melania-trump-white-house/index.html

Guys, Senator Coons is a gentleman and a scholar.
Senator Isakson was attending the funeral of a close friend today and Republican leadership were going to drag him out to vote for Pompeo and avoid an embarrassing"unfavorable" referral to the full Senate. Chris Coons offered to change his vote from "no" to the neutral "present" to allow Mr Isakson to stay with his family and mourn. Pompeo is getting confirmed either way; Personally, I think this was a beautiful thing for Mr Coons to do. And I'll remember this story the next time Democrats are accused of obstruction.

I just saw the arrivals for dinner. Mother’s dress shows more skin than I’d have anticipated. I really don’t like Ivanka’s dress. It just does nothing for me. Polka dots don’t belong on a formal gown if you’re over age 5.

I finished Comey's book and I have a few thoughts based on his telling of things.
1) He clearly respected and liked President Obama.
2) I liked the background that took up the first half of the book, including that he was bullied as a child and his work taking on the Mafia as an Assistant US Attorney. Also, I had no idea he was Ashcroft's DAG and was in the hospital room when Gonzales tried to corner a sick man into green lighting torture.
3) I believe him when he says that he was up against the wall in October 2016. I still don't buy his "I hope it didn't affect the election" naivete. He knows it did. I also think it's eating at him, especially since the emails on Weiner's laptop were first mentioned at the beginning of October, but it wasn't until the end of the month that any serious attention was paid to them.
Basically, I like knowing more about him. I do feel sorry that he was fired the way he was because reading his history makes it seem like he's always tried to do the right thing, but I'm still mad at him and this book didn't change that.

Honestly if any of this is true, he should've been fired during the Obama administration.

I do remember seeing lots of Obama aides rush to defend him on Twitter after the weird annual physical briefing. Which is odd in light of these stories.
IDK.

Unrelated to US politics but figured I'd share. Today in Portugal is the 44th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, now known as, Freedom day, or the 25th of April. This day marks the end of the Novo Estado, or New State- our own little fascist regime. A lot of people think of fascism as having been defeated after WWII, but in Portugal, the New State remained in power until April 25, 1974. That day a military coup began that was subsequently supported by thousands of civilians pouring into the streets, participating in civil resistance. My mom was nine and remembers going into the streets with her grandmother once the celebratory parades happened. The revolution led to a peaceful transition to a democratic republic and free elections that same day one year later, and the independence of former colonies. The transition wasn't perfect, and it took time to get things settled, but overall, we have a stable and safe country with individual freedoms, despite the economic struggles of re-privatization of industry and competing in a global market.
