Who’s got it? This girl 👋🏽
Anyone else in the same boat or have experience? I’ve got a date with a dietician next wed, and I’ve already picked up all my monitoring stuff.

I’ve had it twice. Passed my test at 12 weeks this time and will retest in a few weeks when I’m closer to 28 weeks.
I was diagnosed at 28 weeks with my first and ended up losing weight the lost 10 weeks of pregnancy. That diet is no joke! My target was 120 one hour after starting a meal.
I was diagnosed at 12 weeks with my second. My target changed and it was much easier to manage and I allowed myself a few more cheats to keep my sanity (130 after one hour). My OB with my first used scare tactics and made the whole experience very stressful. I change OBs with my second and he was more laidback and that made a huge difference mentally.
No GD with my third.
I will say all the extra appointments and monitoring were annoying. I chose not to see a dietician the second time. Insurance didn’t cover it and I had my blood sugar numbers under control on my own.

Really hoping I don’t lose weight as my OB already hounds me at every single appt to gain weight. I’m still -11 lbs from prepregnancy weight 🤔

I think there may be GD threads on Jan/Feb and March/April that had good information. I won't have my test for another 5 weeks or so but I'm nervous about it. I have been eating a lot of sugar and I tend to have issues with my blood sugar crashing occasionally. So we'll see.

Just a friendly reminder to all that what you eat now has no bearing on your results (if that's what you're concerned about here). Either your body is producing insulin correctly or it's not.
But if you're concerned about the sugar crashes, just make sure you're getting enough protein to balance out the sugar. There's nothing to be nervous about! If you have it, it's good to know so you can manage it and reduce possible negative effects to you and your baby.

I’m still -11 lbs from prepregnancy weight 🤔 As long as monitoring shows the baby is getting what it needs and growing appropriately, I'm not sure what else you can do. I've never understood seemingly arbitrary weight gain goals during pregnancy. It's not the only indicator of a healthy pregnancy.

I’m just waiting for the confirmation call that I failed. I know 2 of the 4 draws were over the limits defined during my other pregnancies (ranges weren’t listed in the results this time), but maybe they changed what’s acceptable? I took the 3hr Tuesday morning and still haven’t heard from the office. They say they only call if there is a problem, so maybe I squeaked by. I had GD with my other 2 pregnancies and my test results weren’t even close. I was able to diet control both times but had a much easier time the second go around. It’s very much a individual learning process - I could eat bread and fruit and stay within range but rice and potatoes gave me high readings. Both of my children were born with no complications from it. Happy to answer any questions for those dealing with it for the first time. And just to second ohreally, your diet has no input into GD, it’s very different than type II diabetes. Age and genetics are the top contributors aside from pregnancy itself. Once the placenta gets to a certain size (usually end of 2nd trimester) it interferes with insulin production. Once the baby is born, and placenta delivered, everything should go back to normal.

They re-ran my results since they were so close and they are all the same. So I officially have GD for the third time, yippee!

I’m thinking about monitoring periodically to see how my levels are so if they’re trending the wrong way, I can control them sooner. I’m only 21 weeks so I have some time before my test.

I haven’t, but I’ve gotten pretty familiar with how it feels when I have too high or low sugar and have been feeling good this pregnancy regardless of what I eat. I just took my early 3hr test 5 weeks ago and passed all 4 draws, so now (27w), I’m guessing it is just starting to develop. Even if they gave me a pass, I was planning to adjust my diet - I just know it will get worse over the next couple of months. Oh, but I hate those finger pricks!

I had it with my first and am waiting on my 3 hour results to see if I’ll have it this time around! I’m sure I will. We will see!

I declined the “diabetes education” since this is my third time. The nurse on the phone was clueless, said I failed my 1 hr when both my 1hr and fasting were well within range (my 2hr was high and my 3hr was right on the line). Then she said she’d just email me my targets as a reminder. Instead I got a cut/pasted “what is gestational diabetes” crap with no carb limits or blood glucose targets. Oh, and that I should test 2hrs after eating instead of the 1hr I’ve always done?
So I tested 1hr after dinner last night and got a 91! What GD? Woke up this morning and had a 105 fasting. Damn. Tried again immediately and got a 95. Stupid variable meters. Same variations after breakfast except this time was a 23pt difference. And this is why finger pricking is such a mind-f*ck!
I hope the rest of you ladies get off to a better start than I have.

I swear it always tested lower than the rest. And damn fasting. Try more ice cream before bed
Some women have two hour goals so maybe they've changed their testing requirements? However, that nurse seemed clueless given the number of errors she made in the short phone call. My two youngest are 17 months apart and I went to the same diabetes center but had different goals with each.
