Called the doctor’s, since the weather changed so quickly over here some it is hard to adjust for for some kids. Since she’s alert and drinking well, no need to worry. Can someone explain why I’m always at an 11 when the kids have fevers this high? It just terrifies me.

Glad she's ok.

tgrimes Ugh, I'm sorry. One time my oldest has to get stitches by his eye and I had to hold him down in a similar way to what you described. I'm not sure who was more traumatized. Hope you guys get to take it easy the rest of the day.

Guise, I configured all 4 car seats in our van. It was a puzzle, but I think I've got it! Feeling accomplished 😁 Where did you put them all? I have a Flex (so 3rd row). I was going to pick my niece up today and was trying to decide how I'd do the seats! Right now I have L and A in the middle (with one side seat flipped down) and C in the back.

We’re headed to get ice cream and then to Kohl’s to look for princess dresses. The dentist said she’d probably fall asleep. LOfuckingL. Not this kid.

I made it home. MH is at work and my BIL is watching tv in the living room. He just wants to talk talk talk. And I just don’t enjoy conversation with him. He speaks in a monotone voice and tells stories that I just do t care about. I’m the worst. I promise I’m a much better host to everyone else that stays with us! Lol. But I put S down for a nap then said I was going to nap too. Instead I’m in my room watching tv in bed.

nam2013, i hope medicine can bring her temp down quickly. ETA: I see you spoke with the doctor already. N used to spike fevers when the weather changed really quickly,l and then would break out in a rash. Glad she’s drinking and acting normal

tgrimes, that’s horrible. I’m surprised the dentist would continue when she was like that. Normally they want to try and keep a good reputation with kids and not give them that impression. Hopefully she will be okay once she goes back for a cleaning and realizes again that they aren’t so bad. I’m sorry you both had to go through that.

Have a great trip snoopmommymom and tallb ! Jealous party of 1 over here! Good luck today wineallthetime ! wedding is it more than his attention and listening? I feel like Evie has off days where she won't listen or do anything I ask, which I'm starting to think is all her YouTube video watching. But also this age where they're totally testing their boundaries. slenle Don't worry about it, you gave them your card in the beginning, right? I'm sure they charged you for your drinks, they just didn't get a tip, which isn't the end of the world. If it makes you feel any better about being an 'idiot,' last night, when I turned on our tv, the dish kept saying the signal was blocked. I got pissed, because this is the 3rd (or 4th, I can't remember) receiver we've had this year. I called them, they were trouble shooting it, after being on the phone with them for 30 minutes, they asked me if the cord from the receiver was plugged into the wall...um, no, it wasn't. WHY didn't I check that? They did stay on the phone with me until all the programming was set up, but I felt so stupid. Just work for me today, we are going to a fund raiser for the preschool Evie will attend this fall tonight. They're doing a potato bar (hot dogs for kids). My mom and MIL are going as well. I hope Evie's teacher will be there so we can meet her (she lives in my neighborhood, so it would be cool to hang out with her this summer), as well as some of the other kids who will be going this fall. Girlfriend needs some friends. Anytime kids come to our house, she doesn't want to play with them until they've been there for quite a while, then she finally opens up. Yes. He's had extremely high energy since day 1 and is very very fidgety. Like falls out of booths at restaurants because he kicks his feet so much he slides down. I am 99% certain he will receive an ADHD diagnosis at some point but he's too young for meds and I wouldn't want to do that anyway until exhausting all behavioral interventions so we figured we should start now. Last week at ninja class he had to drop and give the teacher pushups 3 times for not listening or playing with obstacles when he shouldn't. But he just couldn't help himself. I could see him trying- clasping and unclasping his hands, shuffling his feet- but grabbing onto the nearby net was calling to him and he couldn't control the urge. Sigh.

Lol jewels but I said knock on wood!!! Last winter my kids were sick the ENTIRE time- like no exaggeration. I’m sure it’s some luck this year but extra hand washing man... it works. And I have been very extra and obnoxious about it. tgrimes I’m so sorry girl.... that is so hard!!! I’m glad it’s over with. At least you know next time what you need to do... but hopefully there is not a next time!! nam2013 Fevers that high ARE scary. I think it freaks most moms out. I’m a nurse and it freaks me out. You’re doing the right thing by notifying the doctor and keeping an eye on her. Hopefully this passes quickly!

My baby sitter wanted to pursue all other options before going to medication for her son. He's 9. She eliminated red dye and it was a night and day difference. Then she had blood work done when his sleeping went to shit and he was low on iron. One small iron pill a day and he sleeps great now. Just some things to think about trying. Her pedi told her if more parents push for these changes and knowledge from their doctors, so many kids could be off the ADHD and ADD medication.

No so this is his 2nd year in the group he is in and he is the 2nd oldest in his class. Next year he will be in the next group, which is pre-k. The weather has been atrocious lately so not a ton of outside time. I know that will help once the weather turns.

Her pedi told her if more parents push for these changes and knowledge from their doctors, so many kids could be off the ADHD and ADD medication. We definitely would cross all things off before going to medication. Apparently MH used to do a lot of work with kids with ADHD at Children's hospital. That information would have been useful a while ago by the way. But he was a treasure trove (?) of information last night with all sorts of behavioral interventions we should try. I was like, dude- you know I've worried about this since he was born, where the heck have you been?! He said he didn't think we were there yet since his parent-teacher conferences have been positive. But I think we should try these things before we get any negative feedback from school- KWIM.
ETA: my SIL was super against meds for her now 11yo. But nothing was working and after he started meds- I think he was 8- he became a much better human. They definitely have their place but I do agree they are jumped to a lot. There's a new documentary on Netflix I've been meaning to check out about the overuse of ADHD meds and how they've become performance enhancing drugs basically.

Note to self: never give M Valium ever again. She wouldn’t STFU. I wish these kids would learn to enjoy their drugs and give in to the relaxing effects.
Sorry it was so traumatic. I'm a big advocate of general anesthesia. I think because I used it so much at the vet clinic and know how safe it is with proper monitoring. But I would much rather avoid the trauma. There was no way for you to know that this would happen though and I would have made the same decision as you.
