Hey! I've been MIA here but active on my BMB. Ds2 has a confirmed (via food challenge) peanut allergy so we have held off on all solids except the ones in the top 8 that he did not react to on the skin test (eggs, cashews, almond, pecan, sesame seed). I've been introducing him to the nut butters one at a time. We have an epipen so I feel pretty comfortable doing that all at home.
We see the pediatrician tomorrow so I will follow up with her as well, but was wondering if anyone else had some experience with this. Should I make my own purees? Start introducing him to more fun foods after I see the allergist next (mid May)? He's 6 months old.

grumpycat, I don't know anything about allergies but I hope you'll get good information from your pediatrician tomorrow. And come back and hang out with us!

I’d wait for the allergist, see what foods they say to try first since we don’t always see the link between food allergies.
For purée, I’d find a trusted brand or do them yourself. I suggest beechnut if they are carried near you- they’re pretty specific on the label and don’t add stuff to their jars.
Is it a contact allergy or a trace allergy? If it’s trace, I’d do purée from a place that doesn’t even process nuts.

If it’s trace, I’d do purée from a place that doesn’t even process nuts. We have stores here that carry beechnut. Sprout is another option. I did some research after posting this! It seems like it is just a contact allergy. DS1 is a peanut butter lover (as am I), so DS2 has definitely gotten peanut dust on him. He broke out in hives where the peanut butter touched him at the food challenge and then his belly/back, then threw up on his 2nd bit. Eczema was our big indicator that there may be some food allergies. His allergist will be testing him for shellfish and fish in May, I can send a message to her to see if we can try other foods before then. He finally seems ready to try some other foods, I just feel bad Thanks, piratecat!

grumpycat until you see an allergist, avoid green bean and peas. They’re in the same family as peas
