Please share. I did one shelf of my pantry last night but I need to go back for more buckets. I would love to see how other people organize theirs. McBenny, I like those red stackable ones you have in yours. Those were a good idea for using space.

I went to dollar tree three times in the last week. I also sent the organizational quiz to my friends and family because it was groundbreaking. I've done my bathroom, my room, pantry and laundry area. I only have a pics of the pantry. The second pic is of my ikea island. I've never really used the shelving before which is stupid. So I took out most of my appliances and put them there so I'll use them more. My biggest breakthrough was making two small baskets one on my dresser and one on my nightstand. The dresser one holds all the items I need to get ready in the morning (meds, deodorant, moisturizer etc,) and the nightstand is the same but for bed. I have been way more together and organized in the morning and I'm no longer rushing trying to find my shit to get ready in the morning. McBenny you need to start a blog or some shit. I also started a bullet journal at work and I've been way ahead of the game since.

Has anyone had any success finding wicker baskets at a dollar store? I see some in one of the pictures above. I’ve decided I want to buy two more white shelves and put them in my dining room/kitchen area. I want to use it for some decorations and also use wicker baskets to hold puzzles and table toys that the boys use but I think with where it’s located in my house I like the look of wicker better

In the hall closet I have the little trial size bottles I pick up of things.
Anyway, I would not get it unless I knew exactly what would go there.

I have a small bin for everything I need when I wash and dry my hair. I have a bin now for that time of the month with everything right there. I move it forward during that time.

sunnysideup, I have not. I got wicker ones from target years and years ago. They do have fabric ones at my dollar tree but they aren't that deep.

I also used the dollar tree dish bin I think it's called to house water bottles and insulated travel cups in my cabinets.
I purged but we have a lot and they do get used seasonally so I didn't want to throw them away. Now none of them fall out etc.

The bins help me give places a home. Sure I have been hearing that shit for years but I didn't do it. Now things actually have a place and it's clearly labeled and other people are following it too.

Yeah, I kept trying to organize my life so it looked pretty, but it wasn't practical and the system would fall apart in days. I had a CTJ with myself and realized that if I haven't put my shoes on the shoe rack that's sat in the closet for years, then I'm not magically going to start and I need to try something else. Do you organize YH's stuff as well or just let his things be? Not communal stuff but like his dresser, office, workshop etc?

I do upkeep in the closet. The what is your organizing style quiz did make me see that for him and the kids they could keep up with easy organization. I did go through his nighstand.
The office is mine.
I do upkeep the dresser cause it drives me crazy. There is not a dresser in the whole house that doesn't have neat drawers.

I use those stackable bins (or some very similar from DT) for tea bags. I love tea and have tons, but I hated the boxes stacked up in my pantry.

Pantry organizing question: how do you all organize canned goods? I have quite a few different types that I’d like to be able to see at different times but would like a more affordable solutions than adding more shelving if possible and really don’t want to pay $20+ just for organizing the cans. Hopefully this picture will work- it’s not my pantry but somewhat similar in that ours is a good sized closet built over a stairwell so it has a small, maybe 1’ space before a step up that’s ~2’ tall and then the bulk of it is maybe waist high on me. So far I’ve just been neatly stacking stuff in there but I am having trouble keeping it maintained if I’m not the only one putting stuff in or getting it out. goo.gl/images/YGkVZU

They had faux wicker. So baskets that were tan, brown, cream with hole patterns made to look like wicker. You can try to look for those.

Or is just open space? There are two wire shelves, one on each side of the closet. They aren’t very large though, and I need a step stool to see the top of them (and I’m 5’6”) so putting the cans up on top isn’t viable. Right now I use the tops of the shelves for things we don’t use all the time or I want further out of my easy reach- cookies, chips, etc Mostly stuff gets set on the “shelf” that’s about waist high. At some point down the road we will likely take out the current shelves and put something new in that is more workable for us but that’s not happening super soon. Adddd: I’d estimate we have about 2.5-3’ of Open space to work with.

Would this work? www.dollartree.com/Rectangular-Slotted-Baskets-with-Single-End-Handles/p329127/index.proThe handles would help you grab them. I got a few for my fridge and they are a good size. Not huge but can fit 5 15oz cans standing. ETA: I would do them in categories or foods you use the most.

sheilathetank, thanks, I like that idea! 5 cans is plenty. We do stock up on stuff when on sale but if I have more than 5 they can go in the basement or something.

I got them for dd's room only. I put pencils-pens, markers, crayons in their own. that is the only thing so far

This thread also got me motivated and I have started in my bathrooms.
I've also decided to use our spare room as less of a storage space (moving things to our garage room) and making that dd's toy/reading area. I will put her desk and barbie house and tv in there. It will open up her room so much more

I went to Dollar Tree yesterday, and then tackled the master bath, kids closets, hall linen closet, and extra closet in the master bedroom (shelves and size of a linen closet, but we use it as a catch-all).
No pics, but the results were so satisfying! I've also checked out some of the Youtubers McBenny has recommended. I agree with comments in the other thread that the Do it on a Dime lady is super annoying, but her organization tips best match my style (ladybug), as does Clutterbug.
Do it on a Dime recommended using canvas hampers for blanket/towel storage, and it was a total light bulb moment for me, because that's the biggest struggle in the linen closet. Mind blown. Now all of the towels are neatly rolled in a hamper-style bin on the floor of the closet, and I have twice as much space on the shelves. Same thing with throw blankets in the extra master closet.

I hate to say it but even my annoying youtubers (for me sometimes it is the voice) inspire me and I get good ideas.

It's taken me several weeks because I have 7 week old that only believes in 20 min naps not on me, but it looks so much better. Here's hoping it sticks. I LOVE those small stacking bins! They really help me use the vertical space wisely. Everything is Dollar Tree except what's sitting on the floor. Those nice big white stacking bins were $30 for a set of 4 on Amazon. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00GLQX4RI?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title Iove them. They are big enough and sturdy. They did fit facing out but we don't use what's on the bottom of either very often, so I turned them so I didn't waste any space. I'm thinking about getting another set. They would be perfect for shoes for example or one in the bathroom to hold bath toys that needed to drain. The clear containers at the bottom came from the Container Store years ago. I buy things when they go on sale, so they hold extra snack kinds of things.

I found some nice glass jars with lids at dollar tree that I use to put in cereals and snack and candy. They are see thru and my kid can find what he wants easily. I hate the look of boxes in my pantry and also the bags in cereal boxes so I dump all boxes pastas and cereals out into a clear container. I also have the short glass jars with the metal flip lid thing that holds sugar and coffee and almond flour etc. I love dollar tree. I could easily spend $50 there if I am not careful. Also eta but there are awesome shelf racks that help with giving you extra space in your cabinets. I use it to put smaller plates on and to add an extra shelf in the cabinets for cans or nut butters etc. at a dollar each I have made little extra shelves everywhere. Lol
