So the House cancelled votes for Thursday (so they can leave town?) and Pittsburgh police are preparing for protests. Looks more and more likely that Trump is going to fire Mueller. Marcie Cipriani @mcipriani_WTAE SOURCE: This is the email sent to Pgh detectives this morning. I am working to get a response from the city as well as additional details on the potential protests. #WTAE snip spoiler
I've already signed up for rapid response protests in case he does fire Mueller. Moveon.org has a sign up you just need to put your zip in and they will send you an email. We're excited about your participation in the rapid-response events to hold Donald Trump accountable. Here are the details for the event you signed up for— Boise Capitol Building 700 W Jefferson St Boise 83720-0001 TIMING NOTE: The exact time and date are unknown—they will only happen if and when Trump fires Robert Mueller as special counsel or acts in other ways to seriously jeopardize the Trump-Russia investigation. To access details about the event you signed up for, and to invite friends to join you, find your event here: act.moveon.org/event/mueller-firing-rapid-response-events/13511/attend/?akid=a252158700.35870403.pPeb8M&aktmid=tm6211848.TpF6-J&t=1&source=confWe appreciate your commitment to engage in non-violent, peaceful action, to act lawfully, and to strive to de-escalate any potential confrontations with those who may disagree with our values. Thanks for all you do. –The Nobody Is Above the Law team

elle never mind I just re read it - it’s a prep measure Right. They may just be acting out of an abundance of caution, however when coupled with the House being dismissed*, I'm feeling nervous. And yes, she's a Pittsburgh reporter, which is how she learned of this police directive. *eta: link eta again: thanks for the info jkjacq

Mitch refusing to bring it to a vote and now the House dismissing early has me nervous. . Yep, I’m fully anticipating a Friday night firing. I feel helpless in that nothing is going to happen while we dive right into a huge constitutional crisis.

The finale of The Looming Tower is out. I'm going to have to watch this one in installments. I'm watching it now. Woof.

I'm pretty sure it's not appropriate. But nothing Trump does is, so.. par for the course. Yeah, it's one of those things that I didn't know if it was a big deal. I didn't want to go to an 11 over something that could happen in another admin. I just never heard of a CIA Director doing something quite like this before. It is striking me as very odd. I saw speculation on Twitter that the WH orchestrated that leak to make him look more statesman-like because he's facing a stiff confirmation vote in the Senate.

The finale of The Looming Tower is out. I'm going to have to watch this one in installments. I'm watching it now. Woof. I actually finished it. But I feel that they handled it delicately. I like that they clearly conveyed empathy for the abject horror of living through that day without stooping to gratuitous violent imagery. O'Neill made the perfect metaphor for the sense of loss I think all Americans felt in the wake of 9/11. I think this was a sound adaptation of the book. I don't want to be spoilery but it's important that 2/3 of the final episode is devoted to laying out the differences between Islam and Al Quaeda.

I heard one reporter on NPR say it's totally abnormal and another on the same network say it's par for the course in recent years (CIA Directors acting as Shadow Secretaries). Both seem correct so I don't know what to think.

Yeah, I don't think the whole thing was orchestrated for that reason but that maybe they let it get out now because they thought it could possibly help with the vote.

It's fairly irritating that he was able to wait until the legislative calendar is effectively dead before declaring this bc that removes any leverage Democrats have

Hi Guys. Busy week. I wanted to come in and spout some anger at freaking Hannity. He says he never retained him or paid him for any of his services but he also says any questions he asked him would he assumed go under attorney client privileges. I'm sorry but if you haven't paid the man or retained him them at that point its fair game. You have not officially hired him as your lawyer. Your as good with law as you are with being a reporter....... oh wait.

Did anyone see Rump's tweets yesterday about sanctuary cities?
The racist dog whistles in that fucking tweet. I realllllllllllllyyyyyyy want to throat punch him. SO hard.
There is a Revolution going on in California. Soooo many Sanctuary areas want OUT of this ridiculous, crime infested & breeding concept. Jerry Brown is trying to back out of the National Guard at the Border, but the people of the State are not happy. Want Security & Safety NOW! — Donald J. Trump (@realdonaldtrump) April 18, 2018

Has anyone been following what’s going on in Missouri? Our governor was indicted for invasion of privacy ( also alleged blackmail and sexual assault cuz you know, he’s a real class act) and now has another possible felony charge against for his campaign practices while he was running for governor. So quite a few officials are calling on him to resign or talking a possible impeachment. So yesterday he filed a restraining order against the Missouri AG, Josh Hawley, and is basically saying there’s no way in hell he will resign. It is frankly embarrassing, but I’m hoping some good will come of it in damaging Hawley reputation because he is running against Claire McCaskill for senate.

It's staaarting! I got an email call to action from one of the primary candidates attempting to challenge Barbara Comstock. There's a chance I'll be living in VA-10 on election day and I'm so excited to kick. her. out.

So much peak private sector CEO behavior: * Only taking 3 calls per day from foreign ministers upon taking over the state department * Refusing to take calls in the midst of a crisis, because you're taking a long weekend * Being an insufferable, arrogant asshole to pretty much everyone, b/c you believe your position, rather than your experience and training and actual knowledge, make you the smartest, most capable person in the room always * Believing that cutting costs is always a good thing, even when it leaves your organization hobbled in performing mission critical work (because in the private sector, if your shareholders are happy, nothing else matters, and they benefit from wanton cost-cutting) Honestly LOLing that anyone thought private sector executive experience would lend itself well to leading the entire state department. This is what happens when you think the skills necessary to become rich in one tiny corner of the private sector are more important than a lifetime of dedication, hard work, and experience in public service. See also: Donald Trump If this administration has been an object lesson in nothing else, it's that being rich doesn't qualify you to run a fucking country. Actually, good private sector CEOs do not believe in any of these things, IMO. Witness so many leading CEO's leaving the Presidents Councils a year or so ago. That said, I do think running any governmental entity (from condo board on up) has a different skill set than running a business, whether that business is for profit or a not for profit.

I don't know when this was but I can't understand how his base can still support him when he is so slanderous to the Pope. Donald Trump rips Pope Francis: I'm a ChristianUnless it's because he said the magic words (Dog Whistles): Terrorists, ISIS, Donald Trump I am no longer a Catholic and I pity them now.

His base isn't Catholic. For the most part anyways. Evangelicals are Protestants and many of them don't care for the Pope because of his views.
