Anything store brand at the club stores is always cheapest. Tell them to stick to Kirkland. All I know is they have really good cheap batteries.

Frozen Spring Rolls. 50 for $10. They are pretty good and we make them when we don’t have a lot of time.

Eggs and milk are cheaper here st Costco than at other stores. Also yogurt and cereal. They can get 5 dozen eggs for $5 at Hickmans egg farm local. Milk is often 99 cents a gallon or 1.99 at Kroger. Can Costco beat that?

Strawberries! Every time I have great tasting ones & ask where they were purchased, the answer is always Costco. How are their strawberries always amazing? IDK about produce prices there, but I've wasted so much money on nearly inedible off-season produce at the regular grocery store.

The cereal at Costco is a great price. I miss that. You can also get a big jar of fresh pesto for cheap and it lasts a long time and is a great quick meal. Also the Aidell’s chicken sausages and Alexa sweet potato fries.

Toilet paper and paper towels. I’m pretty sure they take a loss on their rotisserie chickens. Their cheese and salads/fresh spinach are usually pretty cheap too. I’ve found that Aldi is cheaper for most things though - and we waste way less food.

If you/they are not buying in bulk, you're likely to do better at a place like Aldi

Eggs, milk, and bulk are where I personally felt the difference in Costco pricing. Aldi is a great suggestion though! Taco shells, beans, pasta, sauce, dairy, and frozen meats are all really good prices there. I also buy wine & cheese there, but I'm guessing that won't be as important to your son & his friends.

Here (OH), Milk is usually about $1.79/gal at Costco. Their Kirkland salsa is good, also their tortilla chips. Frozen meatballs Frozen burgers
+1 to socks, underwear, basic tees, gym shorts

Do they have an Aldi or Savers or Ruler foods nearby? THey might find better deals there than at costco that risks buying big bulk stuff. Otherwise I recommend drinks (juice, soda, alcohol, milk), house staples and clothing staples, also chips or breads if they eat a lot of those. If close enough they should check out the rotisseries for quick meals

If they are willing to store it, rice.
And it's a great way to add filling to meals.
Eggs, rotisari chicken, paper products, bread.
Kirkland frozen pizzas. I get cheese and add my own toppings if needed. At 2.50 a pizza this is cheaper than most sales.
I also find the rotisari chickens at Costco are bigger than most grocery stores.

When I was in college we used to buy:
Frozen chicken Frozen pizzas Frozen pieorogies (we lived in PA Dutch country, it was a thing) Frozen egg rolls/wontons/etc Cheese (we’d buy a party tray and use it for anything) Toilet paper and paper towels

This is the exact opposite of our experience with Costco strawberries. I'm jealous.

This is probably regional because I don’t think my area has seen milk prices like that since the 80’s, but Trader Joe’s has the best prices in our area.
Even if they don’t for you, Amy, they have great frozen stuff for easy dinners. I can get a bag of the orange chicken and the stir fry cauliflower rice for around $6 and that is an easy family dinner for us when we don’t feel like cooking. Just something they might want to have on hand so they can avoid spending $$$ on takeout.

Costco has a good frozen orange chicken as well, and you get more compared to TJ's (cost/unit). We're actually having it tonight.

+1 to Kirkland coffee - specifically the box of coffee packets! $16 for a box of 40, each packet makes a pot of coffee. Baller.

Sour cream, paper products, laundry detergent, frozen Kirkland lasagna - they are pretty big and much cheaper then at the grocery store. Cheese, hashbrowns that are in the carton. You get 8 for 5 or 6 bucks and they won't take up freezer space just add hot water. Batteries
