Sorry for being MIA we had house guests and our babysitter quit so things are crazy. And MH got a full-time job so now we actually need some full-time coverage while we are both working this summer and part of the fall. Of course daycare is impossible to get into here and we have been trying to find a nanny.
Holyshit I thought a nanny would be cheaper, no and they are some demanding with what they expect. I am over it! Plus only one so far fits the time coverage we need and I am not her biggest fan. We can hire a college student for the summer and can get a spot in a daycare in the fall. I am leaning toward that option any advice?

Have you looked into an in-home daycare? That's what we've used. At least in our area, it's easier to get into and cheaper than a nanny. But I know not everyone is comfortable with in-homes.
I'm sorry you're in such a tough spot.

Oh boo.
Have you tried care.com? We've found a couple good options from there.

Ugh. Yes. Nannies are $$$$. We had a budget for childcare and bc of our extended hours work schedules we had to forgo a dc center and do a nanny and our budget went out the window. It sucks. But our nanny is awesome. You just have to find the right one. We found ours through a nanny and parents Facebook group. I know it sounds so sketchy but it’s so much more common than I thought and we were able to meet a lot of good candidates that way. We also used care.com and our 2nd and 3rd choices for a nanny (if this one had said no) were from there but care.com had a LOT of weirdos. We also used neighborhood parent groups on Facebook and posted ads and then I got some in home dc referrals and some SAHM who want to watch a kid for some extra $. Do you have that? Like in Facebook my neighborhood groups are “<name of neighborhood> Parents Group” or <name of neighborhood> Area parents. Etc. or relative to the bigger city like “Chicago nanny jobs” or whatever. There might be a “Via The Village: Nanny Share and Care” for your city? (Just add city name to it) or Nanny Network in <city>. Or, if you live near a bunch of colleges find their local marketplace website and post for a nanny there, you may get a good one, i nannied in college and that’s how I found a few jobs. Childcare is the worst. It’s so stressful and time consuming. I’m sorry you’re dealing with that

I am hoping to get in daycare center near my college. The full time nannies think my kids should be spoiled and I just want them taken care of and socializef ugh! I am in a mom's group but no SAHM wants two more kids to watch.

yellowcat ugh. Fx for fall openings at the dc. If it’s close to your work it’ll be even nicer and cheaper than a nanny. Yeah I’m hopeful bc my nanny is like he needs to socialize. We will find him friends! So I’m like oh thank god! Lol. Bc I’m terrible at making friends the older I get.
