Morning all! N is 3 months old today! It’s barely what one would call spring, but after over 5 months of snow, yesterday felt gorgeous and DS took his bike out and only had to push through a couple small snow piles 😂 But don’t worry friends, it’s snowing a bunch again today. Proud little hockey fans 💚💛 Today I got the invitation to DS’s preschool grad when I dropped him off...it just made it so official and real! I can’t believe I have a kindergartner next year!

sunfrogger my IL’s sound very similar. They moved to FL to run away from problems here that they created and now they want to know why I won’t put DS1 who is 5 on a plane by himself to go see them since they do t want to drive back to visit. And we’ve already been told our family vacation next summer should be for their family reunion.

Even as an unaccompanied minor that is a recipe for disaster.

sunfrogger your ILs sort of sound like mine. They moved to FL a few years ago. They are sad that they don’t get to see my kids much. They get to see my SILs kids a ton because they lived with them up until 4 1/2 years ago. My SIL also sends them to live with my ILs all summer long so that my sil doesn’t have to pay for childcare. They expect me to do the same. That will not happen. 1) I will do stuff with my kids in the summer 2) We don’t need childcare since I only work part time 3) They smoke in their house so I don’t want the kids there. We visit and hang out in the backyard as much as we can.

sarahh I like the bigger ones, but I'm biased. We pretty much needed the 24" sign because DS' long middle name. I think the other designers look just as good. Really, who's going to know the difference?

I went to Toys R US to check out their closing sale - what a joke! Up to 30% off but majority was either 5 to 10 percent off. Diapers, wipes and formula was excluded.

stephne, I love the designer but she's only open every few weeks and only for a few minutes. If you do order from her I would put her next opening on the calendar. Then, make sure you know exactly what you want so you can get your order in quickly. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

yellow711 I agree the TRU/BRU sales are a joke. There are signs that say "No Exclusions" except there are...lots of them actually. Everything I saw was 10% off which isn't enough for me to buy stuff (especially at their prices). I bought DS a bigger sleepsack and they only had one left in his size.

DD is now 9lbs 9oz at 18 weeks (8 adjusted). The prevacid seems to be helping since she is back to eating 4oz bottles every 3-4hrs. Her sleep has been kind of crummy for the last few days, but I'm chalking it up to the lack of food and sleep for the last couple weeks just getting sorted out. If she is still having trouble sleeping in another week or so, we will have to reassess the meds. DD loves to play in her new sit me up seat. They didn't exist with DS, so it is a new toy for our house.

sunfrogger, that sucks! When the kids are older a summer road trip to visit grandparents will be a lot easier, but they have to realize that moving that far away has consequences and one of those is not seeing kids and grandkids as often as they would like. Heck, DH's parents "only" live 2 hours away and they have only seen Faith twice, when she was born and when she was one month old. And it will be more fun, too. They live on the river. They own kayaks and a boat. We crab off their dock (we visited while I was pg bc E was like 22mo) plus all the necessary stops w littles? We'll go next summer.

I survived the dentist!I know you were all worried about me 😂
It wasn’t a cleaning. It was a “get to know you” apt. So they did X-RAYS and pictures and an exam. I’m happy to say that I only have 3 cavities!!! That’s not bad considering I haven’t been in for a cleaning in years. And I have terrible enamel in my teeth so I’m so prone to cavities. I go in for my cleaning in a couple weeks. They had an apt tomorrow but I was like NEWP too much too soon. It was a huge step for me to even go today. I need my anxiety to come down some before I go back again haha.
Now I’m sitting at MILs to pick up the baby but I think she’s upstairs with both girls doing nap time. So I’m sitting on the couch sipping my iced coffee while she does the parenting 🙌🏻

Thanks guise. My niece is 7 and they also lived with my ILs for some time a couple times. So she's much older. E will be 3 in November. While it's fortunate we have things like Facetime now, I cringe at an entire relationship built on it.
Also noting that Hs extended family - aunts and uncles - all live in the greater Boston area. And My FIL insists on hosting a big "cousins reunion" at their house in NC. YES. Everyone should travel. While it's nice that it's on the river.. Nothing beats being around family. It's not THAT nice 🙄

It's not THAT nice 🙄 We Facetime with my Mom almost daily, every week or so with the ILs (mainly because they never have their phones close so I have quit trying). It really does help make their voices and faces more familiar so when they do visit they aren't strangers. Fortunately both sets of parents live about 2 hours away (in opposite directions) so it is fairly easy for them to get to see us and Faith whenever they want. We are doing our first road trip to the ILs next weekend. I'm a little nervous to have Faith away from home that long, new smells, new places, 2 hours in the car, etc. Also a big concern is where Faith will sleep and how well she will sleep. I think I mentioned before that their house is small and even though it is a 3 bedroom ranch, only one room is set up as an actual bedroom. We sleep in a "bedroom" that functions as a living room, sofa bed and all. There is so much furniture in there that we will have to remove some stuff to set up the RnP and I don't think a PnP will fit when she is older. The smallest "bedroom" is a craft room that is stuffed to the gills and I would be scared to have her sleep in there in case there would be an avalanche of stuff fall on her at night. MIL has been working on cleaning and organizing stuff so maybe one day it will work...

DS is giving me a run for money today. DH won’t be home until close up 7:00, so I knew today would be a long day. But OMG, it’s not even 2:00 and I’m done. I took him to an indoor play space, which I probably shouldn’t have done since he had started up before we left, refusing to clean up his toys etc. But we went because I’m just so sick of being stuck in the house and I was going to nuts if we stayed home all day.
He was fine there, actually it was pretty nice, he occupied himself and the baby slept most of the time. But when it came time to leave he didn’t want to hold my hand and tried to run, and then cried the whole way home because I wouldn’t take him to lunch. He told me he hated me a bunch of times and has hit me a few times since being home. He does this thing lately of screaming at the top of his lungs when he doesn’t get his way. I just can’t today. I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night and the baby is still super uncomfortable and gassy at night.
I put him in his room with some food and the little potty. He has a child proof lock on the door so he can’t get out. He screamed for a while but is quiet now. I think he put himself in his bed, I don’t see him anywhere else on the monitor. I feel like a horrible mother but I was getting too angry and didn’t want to say or do things I regret, so I had to do the safest thing for him.

I LOVE all those name signs! I have personalized wooden growth charts in each of the kids rooms so I feel like it would be excessive haha, otherwise would totally look for some.

tiffbabey all my sympathies go out to you. That was me on Monday. I had the worst day with DD1 and I just couldn’t. I yelled far more than I like to. It was so so bad. We ended the day with both of us in tears. And I was alone with them both essentially all day. So I feel for you. It sounds like locking him in his room was the best and safest option. Maybe he needed that to just force him to chill the eff out. Hugs mama.
