We continue the regression saga. I’m trying hard not to give in to extra MOTN nursing sessions, so there’s been some tears. I know it’ll be better in the long run to do it this way, but man it’s hard. Anyone’s baby still needing naps every 2 hours or so? From what I’ve read, they should only need 2 or 3 naps but A seems to need one every couple hours. He does not nap long though and I’m having a hard time keeping to any schedule because our day to day lives are very sporadic and on the go. It depends on the day but generally speaking D. can go 2 to 2,5 hours in between naps? Sometimes she refuses to nap though and stays up for near 4 hours - she somehow manages to do so without falling apart? Usually her naps are like 50 minutes max (sadly) but on occasion she links 2 naps and sleeps for almost 2h which is bliss! I hope she'll start doing that more often. I think tis totally fine for babies this age to still need 3-4 naps?? I mean, sure, it'd be nicer if they took 2 longer ones but well.. all in due time (or that's what I keep telling myself anyway!)

Between last nap and night he can stay up 3 hours. I had some people shame me when I said he was taking 4 naps at 6 months but they were like 30 to 40 minutes. He now mostly takes 3 but they are an hour or longer . When he takes short naps he might still nap 4 times a day and people can suck it if they think that's too many. I always wonder how much is true when people say "oh my baby already did such n so by this age" blabla. Don't let anyone make you feel bad! Every baby is unique and follows their own thing.

Anybody doing more finger foods instead of purées? Just looking for more options Yup, we do BLW/Rapley! She's gotten some porridge (usually thin enough that she drinks it out of a bottle with a "big hole nipple" or whats it called) and apple sauce spoon fed but other then that she gets her food in chunks big enough for her to hold easy. So far we've given her cucumber (thick slices with the middle part removed, very easy to hold in those teeny baby hands), tomato, apple, pear, green beans, flat beans and broccolli. Oh and some bread crusts. I steam or briefly cook the vegetables so they are not so hard. She LOVES cucumber and pear, enjoys the rest, but does NOT get what's the deal with broccoli lol. I was looking for some English recipes for BWL and ran into this: onehandedcooks.com.au/100-baby-led-weaning-finger-food-recipes/ Maybe there's some inspiration for you! I bookmarked the site to check back later myself

Anyone else dealing with constipation issues since starting more solids? We've been pushing prunes, pears, veggies, etc but she's still straining a lot. Poor girl. I definitely noticed a change and see/hear her straining a lot.. Went back to BM only for a few days then reintroduced solids which helped - at least temporary..

Yeah I’m not having much luck with water here but it’s mostly because she can’t get the hang of a cup. I don’t really want to put it in a bottle though. Since I still mostly BF we haven't tried anything besides her bottle yet (plus I'm not yet too keen on giving her other drinks besides bm.. not sure what age is appropriate for other drinks like water and such??), but am curious about these sippy cups that you can turn 360 and apperently they don't leak?! Any of you tried those?

I feel like I haven’t slept in a week. (Really it’s just been 45 minutes-1 hr at random times) DD must be getting teeth or something and her sleep schedule is all messed up. DS is having allergy & eczema issues so he keeps waking up a bunch at night too. DH is going out of town for work and if this keeps up I don’t know what I’m going to do. 😴😭 We've had similar nights here lately and I sometimes really feel like a warmed up corpse walking around ugh. She'll go down pretty easy, wakes up anywhere 30-60m later, I rock her back to sleep, and she'll wake back up in an hour or 2, rinse and repeat. I nurse every other wake up (unless they're really close together, or if she just won't go back to sleep) as I don't want her to think every night is a fulltime open bar lol.. but sometimes am just at a loss what's going on or what to do! These past 2 nights have been slightly better again and DH let me sleep in this am so I got 2,5h solid sleep which really made a big difference. I hope DD and DS will soon sleep a bit better again, esp with DH going out of town! FX!

Any of you tried those? Yes, I had one with DD1, it was great but she was definitely older when we used it. I didn't know about it early on with her but maybe I'll try it with M soon. Right now the spouted sippy cups are just making a mess and getting everywhere. I have the Zoli straw cup but I need to help her figure out a straw. I'm trying to introduce a little water now. I did the same with DD1 and honestly she has always been an excellent water drinker as she has gotten older. I think its important for hydration when they get to be fussy little toddlers, haha

It does not leak unless he is chewing on it, holding the water is his mouth , then dribbles it from his mouth . I love it. He had no trouble getting the hang if it.

We had a 360 cup, but T couldn’t figure it out until she was like 3. We will probably start R on a cup that has some sort of spout for her to suck on. But, I’m not doing it yet.

muscari i use that sippy cup. Water with solids to help pooping. When are you supposed to introduce juice ? I haven’t done that. We are exploring lots of foods now though. Shes not very fond of pureess but we are not quite doing BLW we are in the middle doing whatever we want I guess. I don't think they are supposed to drink juice until after a year unless they are constipated. We haven't given it to j in several months since he's been pooping fine. But he did love it when he got it.

Honestly hold off on juice as long as possible. (Not saying for use with constipation) There really is no nutritional value in it and mostly sugar. I think current recommendations for even older toddlers is like no more than 4-6 ounces a day.

T didn’t have juice until she was like 2.5 and then she didn’t like. We only gave her milk and water. When she went to preschool, she started drinking a little due to all the other kids - but, she doesn’t drink a lot.
We are hoping to keep R away from juice, but I’m sure it’ll be harder with seeing her sister drink a juice box.

R is in the sixth leap. Her naps have been pretty shitty and she’s been awake more, but I put her to bed about 7pm. She’s sleeping ok at night.

I want to try and keep M away from it too like DD1 but agree it will be hard seeing her sister with it.

+ whatever to no juice unless it’s for constipation help.
We tried that munchkin sippy cup but N was lost. So I got him a Nuk one with a tip. He’s somewhat learned how to get water from it so he is getting water. Learning process!

I’ve been trying to teach her the straw concept by dipping in water, holding the end, and releasing so it goes in her mouth. It’s kind of working haha

Question. What time does your baby go to bed and what time do they wake up? I try for 7:30 and she wakes up at 7 am. Some days she can’t make it and goes to sleep at 6:30 and is up at 6am All the sleep training things say consistent bed time is important so we need to get better Yeah we have a sliding bedtime too. He goes between 7 and 8. I would like a set time but depending on naps bedtime stretches from 7 to 8

D. wakes up for the day pretty consistantly at 7.15am regardless of how many times she was up at night (which has been a TON these past weeks ugh). I'm trying to make her bedtime earlier and have been getting her ready for bed at 8pm (working my way towards a little earlier still) and she'll fall asleep just fine but will wake up every 45 minutes till around 11 or 12pm?? Then she'll sleep a longer stretch and wakes up around 3, and 5.. I try to go to bed soon after she does but keep having to get up so still aren't getting my sleep lol

Question. What time does your baby go to bed and what time do they wake up? We start the bedtime routine at 6:30 and get him into bed before 7pm. His wake up for the day varies a lot. Some days it’s 6, others it’s 7:30. Once in a while I’m completely burnt out and get him into bed at 6:30.

Bed between 9-10 usually by 9:30. We wake him up at 7am everyday so he has a consistent eat play nap repeat schedule each day. Helps him sleep better at night. He’s doing one wake up, time varies. Sometimes 12:30, sometimes 3:30, 4:30... 🤷🏻♀️ I’ve given up.

We ended up doing ferber method again just for tgat first wake up and its been better the last few weeks with the exception of once or twicw.

A couple weeks ago, A had thrown up a few times over the course of a couple hours. No fever, was not lethargic, or dehydrated and ended up nursing just fine later. He had cereal with breast milk, and I had given him a bit of peanut butter. It was probably the 3rd time? Anyways, I chalked it up to maybe the breast milk had gone bad.
Today was the first time I tried PB again, this time with a little banana. He didn’t even eat a whole spoonful, because he wasn’t interested in eating at lunch today. 4 hours later he projectile vomited twice. Technically it could be either the PB or banana because there’s a chance I gave banana that other time too, but I can’t remember.
We have his 9 month check up in a couple weeks, could I just wait then to bring it up, or should I make a separate trip sooner? I don’t plan on giving him either of those things again until I know more.

J had a text book nap day yesterday. 2 one and a half hour naps and then a 45 minute nap. He just slept a 6.5 hour stretch at night. He hasn't slept that long in months! I don't expect it to happen again but it was a nice day all around lol.

Otherwise, you are probably ok to wait but I wouldn't give him PB again before then.
