I look and feel old today. My face is like the sand when the waves go out and it leaves those wavy long lines. My hip is out of place and my back hurts.
and for those playing along at home ITS STILL WINTER HERE

Getting ready to take R to his first pedi appointment. I'm sore and tired today. It feels like a lot of effort to get myself ready enough to be presentable in public. What ever happened to doctors doing house calls? That would be awesome at this point in time.

mattsgirl2004 house calls would be amazing but then I'd have to clean the house. I'm throwing a surprise dinner party for my H tonight. It's the one year anniversary of him starting his business. Dinner's pretty much ready, I just need to heat everything up. And the house is mostly clean. I just need to figure out how to get him out of the house around 5 to get his family in and finish setting up. I wish we were drinking...I could use alcohol to get through this.

Actually my sister gets the house calls for baby's first checkups. She lives in a small town in rural Saskatchewan and the health nurse comes to her house. It's great except we would have had to take DS in anyway for bilirubin labs. He was a week old before I felt like I could unpack my overnight bag from the hospital without risk of going back right away.
I think it's snowed every day of April so far. But it gets to 40°F/5°C most days so I did part of a 7 min workout in the sun beside the house this morn. Couldn't finish because DS won't sleep for more than 5 min 😖

It is still winter here, but it looks like it is going to warm up some this week.
We need a new roof so we have had estimators stopping by today. I am sitting in the living room while DH listens to all the sales pitches.
DS1 is back at daycare after almost two weeks off...the house feels so calm.

I was feeling like Wonder Woman this morning. I fed L, pumped, did a short workout, AND showered while he slept. Now I am dead on my feet and there is not a nap in sight. H was supposed to have a meeting after work, but it got cancelled and I’m so glad he won’t be home late now. It snowed here too. Not a ton, just enough to remind me that it’s not spring. Good luck at the pedi mattsgirl2004! leatherpants my skin has been a mess too. Between hormones and a huge inconsistency in my regular skincare routine bc baby, I just can’t get it under control. Dry, oily, breaking out, all of the above. cornpop hope the dinner goes well!

v was only up at 130 then 5 so i’m feeling pretty good. i took the girls to target and then made banana bread. just waiting for nap time and keeping my fingers crossed for another double nap.
i need to find the time to at least get my hair cut...im having a really hard time finding any motivation to do any kind of self care right now. i know it would really help my general mood/mental health, but any spare time i have had has been used keeping up on housework because that stuff seriously affects me as well. i wish i could just let some of the stuff go

I did get a home care nurse visit the day after discharge for baby weight and jaundice checks as well as check out my uterus/funds and laceration repair. We still had to brave a pediatrician visit, but was able to push it out a few days.

polson your post made me remember I cancelled my hair appointment the week before I had N. I think I need to find a new stylist so I'm kind of procrastinating. I like my hairdresser as a person but I feel like she stopped caring about doing a good job. I swear hairdressers cut your hair really well 2-4 times and then just start phoning it in. I have everything done for the party that I can do ahead of time. Of course I can't find two of our placemats and obviously can't ask my H. So I think we're using a Christmas tablecloth. Oh well.

I would have also liked a home visit for that first pedi appt. One day after we got discharged and I was still super swollen and could barely walk 😪😪 That seems like a whole lifetime ago.

The ILs left yesterday!!! Last night I felt relaxed for the first time in a week. I feel terrible that I feel like that because my ILs are really nice but I just constantly feel like I have to put on a happy face the whole time they are here. Also my MIL is full of awesome judgey comments that make me feel inadequate all the time. So I’m happy it’s just us again.
Not sure of our plans today. I think we are going to try to go for a walk around the neighborhood. I almost hate to say it because everyone else is stuck in winter hell but it’s supposed to be really nice here today (and by nice I mean hot). Don’t hate me.

Saturday night must have been a fluke because the baby was up every two hours last night. And by the time I would feed her, burp her, and change her it felt like I never slept by the time she would wake up again.
We haven't really had any spit up issues since Friday night but she is uncomfortable laying down so I'm basically wearing her all day just so I can get things done. If it keeps up this week I think I'll call her pediatrician.

We are going to try a family outing to Costco. Please hold me in your prayers.
I’m also going to wear B since that seems to be helping with his reflux. Although honestly, something helps one minute and then doesn’t the next so who knows

Hope you get lots of samples leatherpants! One of my favorite parts of Costco... along with the gigantic bags of boom chicka pop.

I told DH that I wanted to go with him to bring DD to speech today. Mostly it was because I wanted to show off J. We don't really have a whole lot going on today. Mostly just trying to get some cleaning done since my parents and sister are going to be here Friday.

I'm watching One Tree Hill & eating ice cream. I've had some issues with swelling last night/this morning, so I have my feet up. As a heads up, Ben & Jerry's Oat of this World is really good and supposedly helps increase milk supply.

Pedi appointment went good. He's not back up to his birth weight, so we have to go back next week on Monday. It was pretty nice going in. Apparently the staff were waiting for us to come this morning so they could "ooh" and "aah" over our new baby. I'm sure they react the same way towards all new babies, but made me feel special and glad for the more personalized care they provide.
Now we're home and just going to relax the rest of the day.

Ahh technology. I can control the TV and lights from my phone. But how do I summon my phone from across the room while stuck under a sleeping baby?
Hint: It’s not possible. I now have my phone... and an awake baby.

leatherpants I took DS to cooking class today and wore DD, things went well. Fx for you! Also my hips hurt for weeks after I had DS, do you think your pain is related or do you have a prior to pregnancy issue? I hope your hip settles soon.

My doctor (I assume) submitted the order for an induction last Friday but no one has called to let me know when. I called and left a message today around 2:30. When can I call again without being a total loon?

My mom leaves tomorrow. It’s been absolutely amazing to have her here. Laundry, meals, toddler and baby backup... I’m really sad to see her go, but we’ve been so lucky to have her here for almost three weeks.
My MIL flies in on Thursday to stay for just a few days, so we’ll have help for a little longer, but I’m a little more hesitant to ask her to do chores. At least I’m sure she won’t be opposed to holding a baby while I shower or nap!
