Which is why my mom hasn't lost any weight in the last couple years despite hours at the gym Ha. This reminds me of when my ex-SIL was working out to lose weight. My nephew was maybe 4 at the time. He asked where she was always going and why and she told him. He looked and her and said "It's not working". That would be my SO for you. He asked me why I was taking advice from her when I am doing good on my own.

Why do so many things just disappear from my life? I am looking for burp cloths to send my sister and I only found like 4 out of a bazillion and I don't know where they went. I don't know how I manage to misplace so many things - and my house is tiny, why can't I find things? Buy some more and throw out the receipt. Then you will find them.

Yeah, I never lose weight by exercising. I get thick, like Mack. Exercise makes me feel better, and I think it helps to make my overall shape look better. It’s supposedly good to slow aging and there are a myriad of health benefits. There’s also some correlation between exercising and sustaining weight loss, but exercise isn’t a great weight loss tool.
I still encourage people to do it.

I hate spending money on something to wipe up spit up in the first place - most of ours were a gift and I made the rest out of old receiving blankets.

I do like exercising now because I am finding myself in a groove and I feel better and I like the way my arms are looking lately, but I also bloat up like a balloon after from all the water etc. i will get the balance soon.

I do think it's possible to exercise enough to make up for a glass, maybe two, of wine each day. But you won't lose any weight unless you're eating in a calorie deficit that day/week/month.

Not going to lie, one of my reasons for exercise (on certain days) is to be able to still have my "junk" here and there. It's not my main reason, but it's a sub-reason so I can still DQ. That is to say I try to ensure I still have a deficit on those days, not try to "negate" the calories, if that makes sense. I'm tired and perhaps nonsensical.

Good morning. I’m feeling blah I had a headache all day yesterday and through the night and well into morning. It’s starting to go away. My aunts lab got into his sisters pain medication and ate the entire bottle of pills. Now that blockhead is at the animal hospital for 72 hours. He will be fine but oh my god was that stressful. I need coffee and to drive back to the hospital to drop off some meds. Then I need to go to his sisters vet and refill her prescription.

Eating/drinking back calories is an awful approach to weight loss. Also alcohol has effects into the next day that need to be accounted for, so if you never take a break, you constantly have that working against you.

I wouldn't mind a motivational Monday thread or something since I know so many of us are working on weight loss goals.

I just think it's flawed (bc calorie burn is just an estimate) and not sustainable.

I drank a beer (well, Redd's, so hard cider I guess) for the first time in a long time Friday night, and I could definitely tell I hadn't done it in a while. Bloat city from just one.

I just think it's flawed (bc calorie burn is just an estimate) and not sustainable. But people seem to think they can consume the number of calories (or roughly) that they burn. Especially for alcohol it's closer to like 25%. So for 5 oz of red wine you need to burn around 500 calories working out to cover it.

I do my best to stay in a 500-700 deficit, but that's getting less and less lately. I'm burned out. I've done a few re-feeds but still feel tired of the whole process. I'm still pretty militant with tracking and I do my workouts, though.

This is true because the carbohydrate content really translates into 4x what is says on the nutrition information.

I know you work out a ton already, but maybe you could switch to eating for muscle gain and work on training to gain a little weight through that. Just to give yourself a break but still focusing on your overall well being.

And like GM said, alcohol has other issues other than the calories. Your liver is the workhorse of your metabolic system, and when it’s busy burning up the toxins from the alcohol, it can’t effectively do its other work.
Please know that I say this as a wino. I’m not saying to give up alcohol, just to know what you’re getting into when you drink it.

I've thought about this because I would like a little muscle size, not body building level, but I also know I can't really "gain" muscle without having something to work with; if I continue to lose, that can't happen. It's just being able to switch my mentality. Still a lot of body image issues even after all this loss, unfortunately.

I gave up alcohol about 10 days ago with a goal to not drink until Memorial Day weekend, and TIL that'll probably lead to more weight loss than exercise.
