We're apparently striking civilian targets in the capital? Without Congressional authorization and without international support. I mean...how is that better? It’s better for Trump because now we’re talking about that and not Comey, Cohen, or Russia. People are dying because this asshole is bought and paid for by Putin. I’m so ashamed of this country.

Yeah, he's definitely trying to deflect attention. But isn't Russia pro-Assad? So the military strikes mean issues with Russia.

This morning Russia was saying they believe the chemical attacks were orchestrated by the UK. So this is seriously...not good.

So France and the UK. That's good, right? I have no idea. It's bad, but does that make it slightly less bad?
Or is it worse with the Russia angle?
I'm just... I don't know.

Last time he gave Russia a heads up. Basically enough time to move anyone they might want to. This is per Tommy Vietor's Twitter.
If it comes out he did it this time, I can't imagine the UK or France would be on board with that.
That would be catastrophic, right?

Amash and 80 or so other Representatives sent a letter to Trump today urging no action with Syria without Congressional approval. So we'll see what happens Monday.

This morning I almost posted that I expected DT to do some sort of missile strike on Syria to distract from everything, and then I was like gosh that is so awful, I can’t even make a joke about it.
Fuck

I have questions on how this whole “bombing until they stop using chemical weapons” thing works. Does that mean “until they get rid of the weapons they say they have” (Obama did that already) or “until they stop using them for a minute” (Trump did that already).
There’s no good way to define what “success” looks like since Assad just waits awhile before he does it again.
Which - like @heartbot said - leaves you with war.

”In 2016, near the end of Barack Obama's presidency, the U.S. resettled 15,479 Syrian refugees, according to State Department figures. In 2017, the country let in 3,024. So far this year, that number is just 11. By comparison, over the same 3 1/2-month period in 2016, the U.S. accepted 790.”

Yeah this. These strikes aren’t going to do shit, as much as I do think these needed to happen, but it’s not going to save innocent families from dying. He’s basically saying “oh you poor people this is awful, but you’re not allowed here, and I’m still going to bomb the shit out of your homeland.”
