I had similar pain, and was really freaked out by Dr. Google, and then couldn't find the strings, so went in to get an ultrasound. The IUD was in the right location, and, as my doctor put it after looking at my ovaries, my body "returning to fertility" (it was within the first year of having the IUD, and while I was still nursing DD). Ahh okay interesting, this would also make sense for me. DD2 is 5 months and I am BFing. Basically ovulating hurt because it hadn't happened in more than a year? But I was convinced I was dying/was not going to be able to have more kids, etc. The good news is that Mirena has an ultrasound "flag" on it, so it lights up in the ultrasound and is really easy to find.

When I asked my friend who is a former Mirena rep about this, she asked if it would be ovulation pain. I had never really had O pain before, so I didn't think so, but this makes a lot of sense. Especially because LO is sleeping longer stretches at night! No pain today, thank goodness.

I would be worried it could be your appendix and the pain over the last few weeks was as it became inflamed. But I know nothing about how appendixes go from happy to pissed off. So if it gets bad I would go to the ER so they can rule that out. I am concerned about that. It isn't terrible pain and I haven't had a decrease in appetite or nausea at all, which makes me think probably not. But I am sure it can be less severe in some people. I haven’t read this whole thread but appendicitis doesn’t have to be excruciatingly painful. I had slight pain walking downstairs and referred pain when you pushed on my lower right and released. I was sent to the ER by my PCM twice because she was convinced it was my appendix but all the ER docs didn’t think it was because I was super chatty and just fine hanging out except for the slight pain. Anyway, the surgical attending said “no way am I messing with this, it’s coming out” and sure enough it was on the verge of rupture. So....please go to your PCM right away or the ER if it is excruciating.

Last time I had pain that sounds like that it was ovarian cysts (and I had a mirena in). We took the mirena out but t didn’t affect the cysts- they were unrelated. I had lower abdominal pain varying in intensifying for a couple months until one cyst rupture. Then the pain mostly went away. This was going to be my guess. I had mine removed due to cysts as well, haven't had an ultrasound lately to determine if I am still getting them, but I don't have the pain anymore.

I am feeling it a tiny bit today, but not enough that I am concerned. Since I have some early days at work next week, I may see if I can get an afternoon appt just for a quick check.

But of course, if it gets bad, I will go to the ER.
