Up after feeding L. Pumping now instead of later this morning bc my left is so engorged and lumpy feeling. Not sure if those are clogs or what. Hopefully this helps. He was so sleepy and didn’t eat a ton. Mine get hard and lumpy when they are engirged and o don’t think I’ve ever had a clot. Fingers crossed pumping helps!

So B needs to be swaddled. He doesn’t sleep without it. But damn if he can move his arms a fraction of an inch, he will be up fighting it all night.
Heaven help me, he might be the most determined child.

Baby can't decide if he wants to eat or sleep. I unlatch and he wants it back, only to lazy suck. Bah.

L was barely eating when he woke up MOTN and all I could think about in my head was calendula no grazing speech to her baby. I laughed silently but my body was shaking and it woke L up a little more to keep eating. So thanks calendula! You saved the day again.

Seriously it is so annoying, the nibble nibble thing. My doc suggested a cool washcloth on her forehead to keep her awake enough to eat, I might try that this week. Anything to get her to take more at a feeding.

Heaven help me, he might be the most determined child. I think this is M, too. I do a really tight swaddle with those a&a blankets, but he always manages to bust out of them and he grunts and fusses like crazy while he’s sleeping till he does. Last night I tried one of those SwaddleMes for the first time (which my older DS hated) and M slept so soundly and went 4 then 3 hours between feedings, which hasn’t ever happened. Sooo, we’ll be crossing everything and using that again tonight.

katietopaz, +1 to the Swaddle Me fan club. It worked out well for our older kid.

My kid wants a swaddle, but don’t you dare put her arms in it. Arms need to be free. Or. Else.

We are using the SwaddleMe as well. DS1 hated to be swaddled but it seems to be working. No 3-4 hour stretches here though . More grazing occured in the middle of the night nlbut then there was a slightly longer stretch after 4:30 am (2 hours!). I am hoping being 3 weeks early doesn't mean he won't start having longer stretches until 9-11 weeks.

DD fought the swaddleme. She does well with her arms tucked in but didn't need a ton of pressure. I think she will respond well to the Merlin suit once she is big enough honestly.
The other thing I didn't like about the swaddle me was that it made her very round like a burrito and she could roll on a flat bassinet mattress. Made me nervous. We are using a halo sack that is working ok for now.

The muslin blankets are too stretchy so he can move his arms and he gets pissed. The swaddle mes are getting too short and he gets pissed. I can’t do any swaddle sack just by itself because he can move his arms and he gets pissed
What has worked - for now - is using a receiving blanket, folding it over his arms and under his back so he’s trapped and then putting him in a Halo swaddle because there is more room for his legs to kick but his arms are cemented in.
High. Maintenance.

E has been super fussy tonight. She woke up around midnight to nurse and had a huge blowout so I guess that's why. I had to change her jammies and she was awake for 2 houts after that.

We do sleep sacks here. I don’t remember what kind but this kid is ultra picky. We tried the regular swaddle me ones and nope. The one he likes is fancier and keeps him wrapped up super tight. If he can move his arms at all, he’s up. I don’t know what we will do when he lengths out of this one.

This one is still happy to be swaddled with a blanket style swaddle which is odd as he is quite capable of busting out. Sometimes I use the swaddle up suits but lately he prefers to be wrapped ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I have so many different sleep sacks from DS1. The love to dream were good in summer (0.2 tog and soft and breathy). But we are going into winter so I need to dig out my warm ones for this guy.

L has a cold it needs to leave town so we can sleep again. We were starting to get some longer sleep stretches a week ago.

We’re really loving our woombie over here! The Velcro on the swaddleme pissed me off so much. Can’t they figure out a way to make it quieter (and not snag my nice swaddle blankets?!)

The halo sleep sack swaddles have been working well for us. But the zipper and velcro are really loud and the velcro does snag the muslin sheets a little. The pedi said we need to start transitioning out of the swaddle though... so starting with one arm out maybe. We also have the Merlin sleep suit thing so we might try that.

That seems way, way early? I wondered if it was early too. He’s 10 weeks and she recommended this at his 8 week appt. She said he needs to be out by the time he’s rolling and we should start now so it can be a gradual transition instead of stopping cold turkey the day he rolls. He doesn’t seem super close to rolling, so I’m not sure when it will happen for him. I’m scared though. *whispers* he’s been sleeping well with the swaddle and I really don’t want to mess with a good thing.
