Rant ahead: I just about got into an argument with my coworker. She took yesterday off for no reason. (Reminder she has no pto and is always short on money) so she had to take the day unpaid. She told me Friday she wasn’t going to be in yesterday, but didn’t tell anyone else.
Well, her husbands uncle passed away over the weekend and the funeral is today so she is leaving 2 hours early. She asked her manager if she could use bereavement pay for her day off yesterday. Two things about this are wrong. 1- bereavement policy is for immediate family or parents-in law. Spouses extended family is not covered. This is in our handbook. 2-she’s asking to be paid for a day she planned to take off and that had nothing to do with the funeral today.
She tried telling me her manager was wrong for not allowing it. Sorry, no! Our boss is on week 3 of 4 being out of the office and she has been late or not worked several days while he’s been gone. She would never try and pull this if he was in the office. I’m getting so sick of it!

slenle I thought you were going to say they gave her the bereavement pay! Is this the one who is broke but still going to the Kesha concert?? Lol. Anyways... she sounds super irritating. Does your boss know she's slacking off so much??

That's irritating AF slenle, I'm glad her manager said no. She needs to be quiet.

Would participate in a card exchange. I did not do my card last year because I was in the midst of so much family drama I was like F it. Then I regretted it because we always get so many cute photos of friends and family that way. I love doing them...and receiving them!

We should do a card exchange this year. Maybe that would make me actually do a card...Doubt it

So in December, when I was job hunting, I was working with two different recruiters (different companies). Both of them called me today, about the same job opening. Same line of work, but closer to home. I don't think the pay is quite what I currently make. I told the one recruiter who does a much better job of following up to submit my resume, they already sent me a survey to fill out and want to do a phone interview.

Does your boss know she's slacking off so much?? Yep same one. Taking 3 days off in may to fly to Denver. She’s 48 years old and acts like a 21 year with her first job. And in true small town fashion... Her daughter interviewed with mh yesterday to work for him. He said she was the best candidate he’s seen. But with knowing my coworker’s (and the rest of her family from the stories she’s told) work ethic, I’m hesitant to encourage dh hiring her daughter. I just hope she’s the outlier of the family and will be a great employee for him. ETA: and no, my boss has no idea. He never sees her time sheets and she only does this when he’s not here.

I could've stayed home but I would feel bad all day and I would hope someone on my team would do the same thing. Dude. It’s like you don’t even know the people on your team. 😉

Update: baby was a doll and am so glad I visited. They were lonely and need snacks. Funny how seeing just one baby looks SO easy.

How did the move go yesterday guster? Good! Slow because of the snow, but they got to the new house right before four and were out by 715. Big big hustle on their part. The kitchen and the bedrooms are about 90% finished, so tomorrow I'd like to focus on the other main level rooms. It's a really great space. I can't wait to see it all put together! Thanks for thing of me!

I just got done exercising. After I was done I was so hot that I opened one of the living room windows and sat under it. Periodically I could feel snow blow in. It felt great.

Speaking of booze at showers, my sister's baby shower (from BIL side of the family) is at an Irish pub. I said I was excited cause now I can drink at it since A came early. My sister then informed me they aren't providing alcohol. Oh. I don't mind buying my own drink, but I wonder if anyone will be drinking...
Her shower for our side is this weekend and there will most certainly be booze, whew.

Storming again. My kids are determined to make each other scream. I can send them out in the rain as long as there's no lightning, right? 1 hour and 35 minutes until A gets home..

Hi! I’m having a pity party for myself. Coughing hurts like a bitch right now and I’d kill for a cheeseburger and Pepsi! 1 more week of chicken broth and cream of wheat...I can do this...I think I can, I think I can.

Flu test was negative. Lungs and ears are clear. No idea what’s going on but as long as meds bring his fever down and there’s no other changes, we wait it out. If he’s not better in a couple of days we’ll do blood work.
From what I described, she doesn’t think it was a seizure. She said the body’s natural reaction when your temp spikes quickly is to kind of shiver. She said a seizure would be a bit more jerky.

I’m sorry lfig. How long is the recovery? I go back for my follow up next Monday which will be a week and a half out from surgery. Liquid diet and no lifting more than 15lbs till then. At that point I will probably be able to add in soft foods for a week or so.
