sunshinedaisies leatherpants When my son acted like that, I was too afraid to reach out to my doctor for help because I was scared I would get the "babies cry, he is gaining weight, suck it up". It was 14 months before the storm cleared to reveal my happy perfect boy. Longest 14 months of my life. I regret that so much now. He was clearly not just a crabby baby, now that I look back on it. He was suffering and I refuse to find that acceptable for a child. Never mind the fact that it compromises mental health for mom and dad and safety for baby (how many times do we fall asleep holding a baby who won't sleep anywhere else?). Like ArielMermaid said, grab the doctor by the shirt and demand help. Don't be afraid to advocate for yourself and your baby. You both deserve it. And HUGE hugs. It is so, so hard, what you are going through.

Maybe I should start a thread. B has reflux. Quite bad I think. Hes miserable after every feed, he spits up and vomits a lot and most nights he can’t sleep without crying every 10-20 mins. I try to let him sleep through that because he doesn’t seem to be awake - but I am. I elevate his bed, I hold him up for 30 mins after a feed, I give him gripe water, I feed him as upright as I can. And I cry right along with him. Tell me what I am missing please. Tell me there is a magic cure I haven’t done yet. The pediatrician said they likely won’t do much unless it’s affecting his feeding but I will ask again when we go on the 16th. Question: nursing or formula? If formula which one? Is he in pain as he eats? Can you hear his tummy react as he eats? Also: for everyone - silent reflux is real too - some babies never spit up! And still have reflux! Nursing only. I think eliminating dairy is my next step to see if it helps And while he’s eating he’s mostly ok - although he does spit up sometimes on the boob. I can hear his tummy while he eats - and sometimes he’s wheezy on the boob too.

Some newborn reflux is normal. I think. When they’re tiny and just getting their digestive systems going, gulping and spitting and that gasping-gulping thing and discomfort. And the face they make like they ate a lemon.
But I think it’s real deal reflux that should be discussed when it’s making them severely uncomfortable for weeks at a time.
T definitely was like this, but it’s also improving. She’s getting better at nursing and doesn’t seem to have as much noise coming from her belly as she does it.
Hugs. Reflux is TOUGH. GET THE MEDS.

I think I overdid it the past day or two. My bleeding picked up overnight and I’m having some mild cramping this morning. It’s hard to believe it’s already been a week since DS2 was born. The time really does go faster with the second. Except the nights, oy.
I’m so sorry for all the reflux babies. I don’t have any advice to share other than what PPs have mentioned about pushing back against your pedi if they aren’t hearing you and your gut tells you something is going on.

leatherpants - it doesn’t sound like you need to cut the dairy out. Babies with a true intolerance or milk protein allergy are in pain as they eat, and have mucus poops. This def sounds like a bad case of reflux. In fact I would call to be seen tomorrow.

Thank you all for the encouragement. L just spit up pretty much everything he ate and started screaming so I made an appointment for this afternoon with our pediatrician. We go in an hour. I’m hoping we can get him some relief.

My dad is currently having his bypass surgery. They think he is going to need 5 bypasses. They think he will be out of surgery around 12:30. We just got to my parents’ house. We are helping with the dog the next couple days. I hope everything went okay with your dad and that his recovery goes well!

I'm trying to play catch up here. I feel like I've missed a lot. I'm so sleep deprived right now. Everything this week feels like it's just running together. I miss my family. My girls cried when they left from visiting me and baby at the hospital. 😭 MH said neither of them slept good last night and DD2 kept walking around the house in the MOTN saying "Mommy, I need you." Cue major tears from me. I'm so, so ready to be home. It's supposed to snow here tomorrow and my home is 60 miles from the hospital which means DH and my kids may not be able to travel to come pick me up because of snow packed roads. So, I might have to stay an extra day. Effing snow.

I have to leave the house at 1:00 and the baby is asleep in my arms. I have already tried to sit her down once and she didn't like it. Help. Leaf 🌱 where are you? You were supposed to come hold my baby today!! LOLOLOL I wish I was there instead of at work -____- or ya know, holding my own outside baby. Have you tried to trick her by putting her down on one of your sweatshirts or blankets? I slept with a blanket before DD was born and it always seemed to help her stay asleep if I put her down on it - especially if I kind of smooshed her into the boppy as well. This is a good idea and I am going to try it.

I realized most of the new nipples I bought are not for newborns. No wonder it seemed like she was drowning in formula.
My H is at a baseball game with my dad. I hope he comes home early because I don't feel like dealing with the dogs if I want to go to bed.
I'm having a hard time not eating like I'm pregnant anymore. I just want dessert constantly.

Postpartum hormones and emotions can GTFO. I keep crying about a week from now, when my mom will be gone and DH will be back at work. I feel like the only reason I’m holding onto my sanity is because they’re both here.
It also probably doesn’t help that DS2 has his circ today as an office visit, and he was inconsolable for a little while after. My OB is the one that did the procedure and I trust her implicitly, but I’m still a wreck after that. DS1 slept through his, so I wasn’t expecting this.
Did I mention I hate the PP hormone crash?

Hugs katietopaz the hormone crash is the worst. I feel like I coped better this time, but wow I felt like a good cry today after our large group of visitors finally left (MIL was here for 7.5 hours 😑). I literally get how the baby feels- over stimulated and exhausted. Then my toddler was just awesome and snuggly while we did bedtime and cue more emotions.

My Australian version of the dock a tot is in high demand here. DS1 is obsessed with laying in it, the cat just tried then the dog told the cat off and he had a go too.

im here and commiserating with you ladies that are having feeding issues. the problem seems to be getting worse. motn feeds aren’t usually an issue, but daytime ones end up with crying and fussing for about 30 min to an hour after she’s done eating. add a demanding 2 yr old to the mix and it is awful. i feel like i am totally failing right now. i’m hoping the dr can help me out today.

I got a whole 3 hours of broken sleep last night. Baby was quite fussy. I'm pretty sore today too. Hopefully we'll get discharged later today, weather permitting. I'm ready to be home.
I'm sorry for all the feeding and sleep struggles everyone is facing. Sending hugs and lots of caffeine to those that need it. ❤

When I roll over in bed MOTN I imagine it’s what a beached whale looks/feels like. I’m actually not hating these last few weeks of pregnancy as much as I did with my first but I will be SO HAPPY to be able to roll over with ease and sleep on my belly!

A friend of J's dad gifted DD lambskin and she slept on it for 4 hours straight last night. I'm putting so much faith into this thing being a baby sleep miracle worker.

LOL yianna that sounds like a great deal! FWIW I 100% think this LO flipped to escape the HR monitor bring on its head right while we were being monitored before our version. 11th hour FTW! Hopefully it’s already head down and you can avoid all that nonsense. Hugs katietopaz. Please make sure you’re practicing a little self care. Also, a good shower cry and a glass of wine can cure a lot IME. I can’t believe anyone would spend hours at a house with a newborn nevertoomanyshoes.... unless they are cleaning, cooking, or holding the baby while you shower/sleep/Walk around target with Starbucks for 30 minutes. I’m super nervous about our ILs camping out at our house. DNWDNWDNW

Vent ahead: I think I may be the most pregnant now and it’s making me RAGEY. Prodromal labor blows and everyone asking when I’m due is making it worse. I’m exhausted and terrified that I’m going to be overdue with a monster sized baby and be too tired to push its fat body out. If one more person/nurse says “well it doesn’t look like a 9lb babynis in there” I may punch them in the face. I measured slightly behind with DD too and my belly size literally has almost zero to do with how big this kids head may be. The more they head-pat and the more tired I get the more likely I am to feel/act completely irrationally. Can some one just drug me until my water breaks?

I do not want to give birth again. That shit sucked. But I do want this baby out. Pregnancy is weird.
