My dad is currently having his bypass surgery. They think he is going to need 5 bypasses. They think he will be out of surgery around 12:30. We just got to my parents’ house. We are helping with the dog the next couple days.

Maybe I should start a thread. B has reflux. Quite bad I think. Hes miserable after every feed, he spits up and vomits a lot and most nights he can’t sleep without crying every 10-20 mins. I try to let him sleep through that because he doesn’t seem to be awake - but I am.
I elevate his bed, I hold him up for 30 mins after a feed, I give him gripe water, I feed him as upright as I can. And I cry right along with him.
Tell me what I am missing please. Tell me there is a magic cure I haven’t done yet. The pediatrician said they likely won’t do much unless it’s affecting his feeding but I will ask again when we go on the 16th.

My DD had this and they wouldn’t do anything because she was gaining weight just fine even though my life was hell. Grab the doctor by the shirt and DEMAND help.

Seriously ArielMermaid, that’s exactly what I needed to hear. This is insane. He’s in pain and it’s miserable for everyone else too.

leatherpants I agree with ArielMermaid, I’d be demanding a prescription or I’d be finding a new pediatrician. I’m worried about this as my H had awful reflux issues as a baby (and still does) but luckily my DD escaped these issues. I can’t possibly get so lucky again, can I?😒

I’m straight triggered by it 😂 I didn’t mean to come off super aggressive but I’ve lived that life and she didn’t sleep at night until she stopped spitting up completely. (18 months.) save yourself if you can.

He will be asleep in our arms then we put him down and within 30 minutes he is grunting and then starts crying. Sometimes there is spit up. I need him to sleep somewhere other than our arms.

DD slept in the rock in play like an angel because of the incline. After that nighttime was hell. I tried a crib wedge but she just rolled off of it into the side of the crib and woke up every time. I never came up with anything that worked.

This is such foreign territory for me -DS1 never ever spit up. Like not once. This one is insane. I think I could have written your post word for word. We were up from 12:30-4:30 last night. Screaming. Nursing. Arching his back. Spitting up. It’s bad enough during the day but I just don’t know how to handle these things during the night when I’m so exhausted. It’s overwhelming.

I mean I guess I’m just irrationally scared the doctor will be like “yeah that’s newborns they cry” and tell me I’m overreacting and being stupid.

I have to leave the house at 1:00 and the baby is asleep in my arms. I have already tried to sit her down once and she didn't like it. Help. Leaf 🌱 where are you? You were supposed to come hold my baby today!!

I think we might be dealing with a bit of reflux too? I don't know. She won't lay flat on her back without grunting and spitting up. She's super gassy and uncomfortable after nursing. Part of me also thinks itmay be related to my diet though so i've been avoiding caffeine (misersble) and dairy.

You were supposed to come hold my baby today!! LOLOLOL I wish I was there instead of at work -____- or ya know, holding my own outside baby. Have you tried to trick her by putting her down on one of your sweatshirts or blankets? I slept with a blanket before DD was born and it always seemed to help her stay asleep if I put her down on it - especially if I kind of smooshed her into the boppy as well.

The incredible amount of spit up and unhappiness as far as I know. Like I said, I lived in hell and never got any help because it was dismissed as “babies spit up. She is gaining weight, she’s fine.” My DD was not fine. She didn’t sleep, she hated the car, she hated the bouncer, she hated baths, it was a nightmare. When she was done spitting up at 18 months it was like someone swapped her for a happy kid.

Is he in pain as he eats? Can you hear his tummy react as he eats? Also: for everyone - silent reflux is real too - some babies never spit up! And still have reflux!
