Any plans on how to stay awake through the middle of the night nursing/feeding sessions? STM+s: How did you do it last time? Binging on a tv series? Online shopping?

Last time I really loved the MOTN threads on my BMB. They were always good to keep me up. And I rewatched every episode of Friends during DD's nb phase.

Anything I could do on my phone. Reading long threads like GD's UO or FFFC. MoTN threads. TV shows with headphones. Games.

After about 5 weeks, DD would wake up from the light on my phone and was harder to settle after a feed so I had to stop looking at my phone. So I basically sat with her wrapped in a warm blanket and just day dreamed.
I’m a bit nervous this time because I’m so tired as a starting point that I hope I can stay awake. Personally I’m not a fan of co-sleeping so I don’t intend to have baby sleeping in the bed with me even for feeding.
I also hope I’ve learned a few things so this baby might be a better sleeper. DD was waking 6 times a night for the first 9 months of her life.

I play a couple of phone games...Words with Friends and Yahtzee with Buddies (anyone want to play with me? Lol). Also reading on my kindle and the MOTN threads.
ETA: I also use my headphones to stream shows on my tablet on nights where I'm extra sleepy and need something a little more engaging to stay awake.

Since I'm going to be in the living room for the first little while anyways, it'll likely be mostly TV and Netflix. I moved my desk the other day so that my computer screen is right across from the couch so I can put Netflix on since I don't have a streaming device on my TV.

Is it bad that I think I blocked this out and don't really remember what I did last time? I'm pretty sure I read MOTN threads too though. I was up all.the.time with DD because she was so tiny so I must have done something.

I plan on doing podcasts or audiobooks this time. My biggest concern is if DS wakes up too. I don't know if I can handle both. H was helpful for the most part last time so hopefully it won't be so bad. 😬

I would browse on my phone but only on the very beginning. After that I just managed to stay awake. DS was a easy nurser at night and easy to put back down so it usually didn’t last too long. Fx it’s the same w this one

For the earlier months, I'd keep up with my BMBs MOTN threads. I also desperately tried not to wake H since he was working. This time he can suck it up since I don't want to wake O by being near his room. Later (when we were still up 2-4 times a night for 9 months) I found I couldn't go back to sleep if I looked at my phone so I usually just dozed in the glider with him while he nursed.
H really wants to get her to use a bottle asap at night this time so I can get some solid chunks of sleeping. FX for a baby that sleeps.

Both my older two were unicorns from the beginning. They'd have their final feeding sometime between 8 & 10pm, put them to bed, then they'd wake up sometime between midnight & 2, then H would take the 5-7AM feed and let me sleep. I'm kind of hoping this one follows suit.

In the beginning when I really needed to stay awake and the feedings took a while, I would either watch Netflix/DVRed shows, read on my kindle, or participate in MOTN threads/read TCF (at the time). Eventually when he got bigger and I felt more comfortable (and he was nursing less often), we would just nurse in bed in the dark. I was also back at work at that time, so it was important that I was able to get back to sleep ASAP.

In the beginning: MOTN threads, games on my phone, and I think I read a lot of Jack Reacher books. For the first month I took a mid afternoon nap every day cause it helped me not be ragey MOTN but with a toddler I don’t see that happening this go around.

At first I binged watched netflix. Then I played a lot of candy crush and 2048. My first was the "Nurse for 40 minutes then sleep for 30 minutes then nurse again" type.
Fortunately my second was a quick nurser. 5-10 minutes, then down for an hour or two.

I watched Frasier episodes and played on MOTN threads. It's also when I started lurking Parenting. DS had some reflux so I would keep him upright for a full episode after he ate before I put him back down. Frasier is a very chill but engaging MOTN show, btw.

I read a lot of Threads on Parenting and kept up with my BMB’s MOTN threads last time. I also played a lot of 2048 (of whatever it’s called) on my phone.

I was terrible at staying awake last time 😬
I am hoping to do things differently with this kid, starting by not nursing in bed....

With ds I would just play games on my phone, read my bmb threads, and just read stuff online - it worked out pretty well so I’ll probably just do the same this go around

Last time? Lots of crying I'm sure. MOTN threads. We did co-sleep so I didn't stay up for too long. Not really planning that this time around.
It does help that I work nights and DH is on days, but he'll be busy with DS a lot. Plans now I guess will be streaming anything (I made a list of shows to catch up on/watch for the first time), planning vacations, playing on pinterest, applying for a new job.

Last time -lol to me remembering that long ago! I do remember DH being a huge help the first week she was home but after he went back to work, I let him sleep as much as I could (he’s a teacher and those middle schoolers would’ve eaten him alive if he wasn’t somewhat rested). I’ll probably find something I can read or watch on my phone this time to entertain myself and keep me awake.

I nursed sitting up in bed and mostly just played on my phone until we switched to cosleeping. Once we did that, I did the sideeying position and probably dosed some until she would finish. I mostly daydreamed in that position I guess. Sometimes I’d get on my phone.

MOTN threads were my jam. I feel like since DS was born early we were in that shitty sleep stage for a long while. It was every 2-3 hrs for what felt like 4 months. I was sofa king tired all the time.
