Faith is 9 weeks today and starting to coo and sing! I'm going to try to link this video, not sure it will work or not. Love it. N’s been doing this cough/squeak thing when you can tell she’s trying to laugh. Can’t wait for the real thing! They are becoming such little humans already, I was just thinking about how life feels so different with all 3 now than even just a few weeks ago.

My kid is taking an epic nap. I have done so much tidying and cleaning that now I am just waiting for her to wake up so we can go outside! I forgot how productive I can be when my kid takes long naps not on top of me :-P

So I need some advice/opinions. I've written before about our nanny issue. We are using an agency to assign a part time nanny from 1-5/6 each day. The one originally assigned is MIA so we've been having another girl fill in for the last month. She isn't a permanent solution though because she lives an hour away and she also recently graduated from college so is looking for a job in her field.
Anyway, they can't find anyone to place permanently but are continuing to look. I'm worried that the lady filling in will find a job and then we will have a revolving door of nannies while they try to find someone permanent. So I think my options are 1) find someone myself or 2) take them out of the church preschool and put them in full time daycare. We really like the preschool that they go to but in actuality we are paying more doing what we are doing now compared to what full time daycare would be. I may have answered my own question. Full time daycare if we can find one with spots may be our best option. 2 other things. We paid the nanny agency $225 as the annual fee for them collecting our payments and tracking hours and placing a nanny. Also, we are getting the month of May free at the preschool because we changed preschools and they gave us a credit for the deposit we made at the old one. I guess I can ask for the $225 back from the agency because of all the hassle but probably won't get the preschool credit.

Gahhhhh and no one has spots. At least at the places that I had toured before. I may ask around at the preschool and see if any of the teachers watch kids after hours. We can technically leave the girls there in after care until 3 so it would just be a few hours until I get off work. This is so annoying.

I have a cake in the oven and it smells so good! Once it comes out of the oven, J and I are going to sit outside since it is beautiful out.

sarahh oh man! I hope you can get something figured out ASAP. Maybe I am remembering incorrectly, but didn't the MIA nanny have your carseat(s)?

I finally sent a text today to see if she’d meet me but no response yet and she’s still not responding to the agency. I’m going to tour a daycare tomorrow that I’m not really in love with but may have space. They girls’ school doesn’t get out until the end of May and I don’t mind pulling the baby out because she doesn’t really know anything but I know DD1 will be upset because she loves her class and teachers but all this back and forth without consistent care also can’t be good for her either.

sarahh the agency needs to refund your fee if they can’t find you someone permanent. They must have some policy like we will find you someone new or refund if the Nanny doesn’t stay for X amount of time. Your situation is even worse because the first one took your car seat and vanished. Someone that lives and hour away that’s looking for a job in her degree field is not an acceptling term option.

I think we’re going through a growth spurt over here. M is sleeping way more than usual during the day and not eating as much. He’s super happy and chatty when he wakes so I know he’s not sick but I hate when they don’t eat as much as normal 🤷🏼♀️ has anyone else experienced this during a growth spurt? Here he is bundled up in his usual morning spot while I get D changed for play school (on the same bed so I can make sure M can still breathe 😉) Also my big guy graduating swimming class moving up a level

maddisonrose DS1 does that before/during a growth spurt. He sleeps more and eats less, then one day he looks bigger and suddenly he’s eating like maniac for a few days

sarahh is it possible another mom could take your girls in the afternoon? I've thought about doing something like that so maybe other moms would? Like DD goes to school from 9-12, at 12 I could pick her and another kid(s) up and the parent could pick up the kid from my house. Would something like that work? Maybe you could ask around if there is a sahm parent or someone with an opposite schedule to you?

We went to the zoo today. It was my first outing with the two of them that was just for fun and we had to drive (ie not the local playground). I survived ok. We met two friends and their LOs, so I had backup but I pretty much managed it all. I'm encouraged that I could do it again.
DD was a WRECK this afternoon though. I don't know what is going on with her. She was off the walls testing boundaries. I put her to bed at 5:30 (usual bedtime is 7:30) and she fell right to sleep and has been asleep since. I might regret this in the morning but I really felt like she couldn't handle being awake one more minute.
Tomorrow afternoon we embark on our first road trip as a family of four! We are going to my family's in Massachusetts. It will take somewhere between 5 and 7 hours depending on stops and traffic. H is coming with us but he is going to take the train home on Monday. I am going to stay with the kids and drive home by myself next weekend. That drive solo is terrifying.
