21% say they believe potus.
A group of supporters watched the interview (women) are saying she’s doing this for money. They don’t have hard proof she had sex with him. Also he’s changed as a person to become president and she needs to change too.
Omfg.
I’m done.

I think his political aspirations didn’t end with being Speaker (or VP when he ran with Romney). I don’t think he would run in 2020 either, but a few years later. I'd love him to primary Trump, lol I’m all for it as long as he loses in the general election. Although I’d take a President Ryan over a President Trump.

From what our mortgage originator was telling us this weekend, small hometown banks and credit unions aren’t subjected to all the oversight placed on big banks. There’s some, like PMI required for loans with 10% or less down and not going past the magic 43% debt to income ratio, but not all of the newer regulations apply to them. I wonder if the rollbacks are to encourage the banks to give out more mortgages to counteract less buyers due to the higher interest rates. Let’s face it, they’ve jumped a full percent since 6 months ago, and there’s rumors that’ll be 5.5-6% on mortgages by the end of the year. If it’s not specifically for that, it could be to get them to make more risky credit loans on other items to help keep the economy going because, frankly, if we didn’t need to buy a house (can’t find anything to rent in our size and price range), the climbing interest is enough to deter us (I’m not exactly fiscally conservative..) I haven't heard anything about it being to help home buyers. Everything I've read has been about helping smaller financial institutions compete with larger financial institutions. Regardless, I don't think enabling people to take on riskier mortgages--or for financial institutions to be able to take on those riskier assets w/o proper leverage--is a good idea. It’s an awful idea. It’s the only potential reasoning I could think of, though. Deregulating these big banks isn’t going to do anything but put us back to 2008-2009 crash territory

How the fuck is Trump's approval rating up? Multiple women claiming he cheated on his wife, changing cabinet members like underwear...how the hell do more people approve of him NOW? 2 words. Stock market. That is what every Trump voter is running on. They like that he is "making them money, jobs, and investment". Thats it. Other than the BS that he isn't a politician and he is "shaking it up".

I find it absolutely deplorable that Republicans (alt Right + hard core gun owners) are attacking the victims of Parkland. It is disgusting. They truly are the deplorables. The Right Has Launched a Vile New Smear Campaign Against Parkland Survivor Emma GonzalezOh and incase everyone here isn't insulted enough the the right and Republicans. Let this sink in. (Added a a spoiler so its not triggering accidentally) {SPOILER: Post made by User: McGuineaRI 2 days ago.} Clearly we are still in 1952. Fuck these people. Holy smokes that spoiler is awash in racism and misogyny. Dog. Whistle. Just to be clear -- I'm not saying Jukebox is racist or misogynist.

The Economy is doing well for businesses. Not them.

The entire board is like this. Rife with things like "snowflake" "crapicchino" "libtard" and others I will not copy on here. They clearly don't understand what "common sense gun laws" are. They just see it as the government is going to take our guns and then enslave us. No to mention adding that picture of the student throwing his hand up and then morphing it into Hitler.

That Spoiler shows the fear of a privileged white man who keeps his wife under thumb and fears for his loss of power. As a white guy I am laughing at this ridiculous insecurity and his ability to make correct and rational decision.

I don't think the "base" cares whether the market is actually up. If he tweets that the economy is great they think it is.
I'm probably showing costal elite snobbery about his base though.
The rich people who support him are already like "wtf do I do with all my money now that my taxes are so much lower?"
But it's all okay. Ugh.

I really want to write, like, an article-length post one day about how coastal elite snobbery is real and a problem...but also not entirely wrong. And Joe the Plumber or the forgotten man or whatever we're calling lower income conservative voters these days are right about elite snobbery...but also pretty wrong. I’d read it.

Regarding the citizenship question on the upcoming census....beyond various states suing (or planning to sue) over it, has anyone seen any planned responses to it? I don’t want to boycott the census entirely but I’m tempted to leave that question blank.

Retired Justice John Paul Stevens calls for repealing the second amendment. (Op Ed in the NYT)
I thought this was interesting that he decided to speak out. I don’t think it helps those advocating for gun control though. I see it adding to the fuel on the right and not what those advocating for control are trying to achieve.

Do they throw it out if incomplete though?

2 words. Stock market. That is what every Trump voter is running on. They like that he is "making them money, jobs, and investment". Thats it. Other than the BS that he isn't a politician and he is "shaking it up". But...the stock market has been shaky lately and taken 2 big dips in the last couple of months? Trade war looming? I mean...wut??? They don't care. They all reveling in the fact that we are at "1.9%" growth or "2.3%" growth, depending on what real of fake economist your talking too. If you look at the latest CNN poll, he is polling at 42% because republicans turned their vote for him around to add more positive stats on Economy. He is up 4% with Republicans on the Economy. He is down by 5% with republicans in trade, foreign relations, and domestic issues & guns. So this all proves my point. He has been saying that he wants the economy to grow to 3% and it is Kelly Ann Conway's to push that fake goal. Since he has lower class people on his finger because that promise was supposed to turn around and drive more money to them they have been raving about how well his policy is doing well for the economy. And since they don't understand what Economy is, the look at the DOW. When it reaches over another 1000, they throw their hands up and praise him and that is their key argument as to why they love him. Simply saying, "Well look at the stock market. Hilary wouldn't have done that. She would have taken all our money." They don't care about anything else and they are drinking the snake oil by the gallons.

I honestly think his base is 30ish% of the population and nothing will change their minds. I don't even think there is a reason to try to reason with them.
Edit: Sorry this was in response to the 21% of people not believing Daniels.

Boycotting the census would be...not a good idea. Nope, no intention of doing so. Do they throw it out if incomplete though? I'm not sure why they would throw out an incomplete census since the point of it is to collect population data. Common sense on their end would be to collect as much data as they can get. But I'm definitely a renegade, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I've had to partake in 3 country censuses in the past 8 years (it's been intereresting to see what kind of data different countries are concerned about collecting), and in at least 2 but possibly all 3 cases, I have refused to answer or written in a response where I felt the question was not justifiable from a combined scientific and ethical standpoint. This turned into a long aside: (I would caution against doing this willy-nilly, since data can be used in good and bad ways. What the point of some data is is not always clear. As a social scientist [and maybe reinforced by my heritage], it's my job to ensure from an ethical standpoint that individuals are not coerced but choose to participate in any given project and clearly understand that they have the opportunity to withdraw their data from the project retroactively up until the point of submission for publication. This just to explain what informs my behaviour. Anyway...) However, my vague memory of the last US census is that some sensitive questions had both a "none of the above" and a "refuse to respond" (or at least one of the above) in a few cases. I would hope those will be options again in the 2020 census.

mb3 and @heartbot whenever you don't answer a "mandatory" question on your census form they will send a census taker to your home to try to get the missing information. The citizenship question has been deemed mandatory. I don't know what happens if you refuse to answer the question repeatedly, but am fairly confident they don't throw out all your results. Trying to confirm with my dad who worked PR/Community relations for the 2000 census.

I had seen that they’ll send a worker to your home up to 6x and that there is a fine both for not answering as well as a higher one for providing a false answer. I’m probably not making much sense, I’m just infuriated over this question being in there at all.
