Possible triggers? Parent loss, job loss, pregnancies?
Hey ladies (any gents?), this girl has hit rock bottom by way of highest weight, so I'm looking for a support group. I hang in the TV/Blinds threads and lurk GD.
Long story long: I was at my peak fitness after losing 40 pounds and really hitting my stride with distance running when I got married and immediately pregnant. I was able to run until 7.5 months with DD (3.5 years) and started running again as soon as I could. I did a 25K and half within 9-10 months. With all my running I still ended up steadily gaining until I was right back to my full term weight (40 pounds over my starting/lowest ever).
*Insert losing father by way of lumber accident, getting pregnant with DS (now 1 year), losing job and needing an urgent C-section in the following year.
I started running again after clearance last spring, but developed a raging case of plantar fasciitis within a few months, which I am still dealing with. I haven't really ran or walked even since August/Sept. I do hot yoga 1-2 times a week which I love, but this girl needs intense cardio to see results.
My vices/barriers: my PF, love of craft beers, terrible habit of snacking my face off after the bedtime battle and overall lack of cardio and balance. Oh, and flavored coffee creamer. And 40.
My opportunities: I recently started working from home with a flexible employer and kids are in DC. I have a treadmill in the basement, but would prefer to exercise outside which is more realistic now that the tundra of my region is thawing. I am on MFP and it was a great tool for my first round of loss.
My *hopefully* realistic goal is to be about 10-15 above my lowest, but frankly I just want to feel comfortable with myself again.
So, that's morw than you ever wanted to know about me! I will check out which threads make sense for me, and hope you will have me!
TL;DR intro and you'll see me around

It was a sad day when I actually measured my coffee creamer. 2 tbsp is not what I was pouring into my coffee cup twice a day, it was closer to 5 😔

Also hello and welcome
There are a lot of great threads here. The Noom one at this point is most of us posting daily eating/exercise plans and talking recipes and others. it is where I find myself the most because I am still trying to work exercise into my day

Hi welcome! I was at my highest weight in January coming off marathon training- so I definitely don’t see running as the key to weight loss but I love it. I also had a horrible bout of PF - I ended up getting active tension release “massages” - the quotes are because it hurt like hell but worked. I’ve added in BBM along with running and have had really good results. I hope you join us in our next 90 day/BBM challenge accountability group

I've spent approximately the last week falling into what feels like a cult of my own creation. I am really enjoying watching years of videos and reading blog posts from Mike Vacanti: www.ontheregimen.com/ and www.youtube.com/channel/UCEtrSsxLOSLvcCd5syaFgegHe's very pro-counting your macros. He has an app you can use to calculate your macros and tracking food, but I still use MFP for tracking. He has taught me a ton about eating for fat loss, and I really dig his approach to all things diet and fitness. All this to say: I lost my mom five years ago and then had a baby a month later. All of that put me into a lazy spiral where I felt maxed out on all fronts and I couldn't find the energy to evaluate and make changes. Because I need changes. I've been working out, trying new fitness studios via ClassPass, and I've been putting effort into my diet. It's been invigorating.

I was nursing, too, and really feel like I may have put too much pressure on my body. I was literally pumping before and immediately after races, then stressing about calories because I didn't want to take too many in, but didn't want to lose my supply. Did you get the massages through physical therapist or massage therapist? I've bought a ton of contraptions to try and help, but I'm not being consistent with anything.

I have been trying to figure out a good macro ratio for me, so I will check that out! MFP does show macros, too, it's just hard for me to retrain my brain, because low-fat/low-calorie was the school of thought for a good chunk of my life. I'm glad you are finding it invigorating, you deserve it after that roller coaster. I'm hoping to get back to where I'm not focused on what the scale says or by how much I can squeeze, but by having non-scale goals and victories again.

iruntodrink I went to a massage therapist at a sports therapy clinic. He was recommended by my local fleet feet. Please remember I warned you that it hurts. But it’s very temporary and I had immediate relief (and I’d tried everything before ) I meant to mention earlier that I lost my dad too. I used to run with him and basically stopped when he was no longer there at the finish line. I started running again after my brother was killed 5 years ago. It’s definitely my therapy

@privacy, I would definitely tolerate some temporary pain to get immediate relief and resolution. It was so bad in August/Sept that I had to walk on my tiptoe. It's better and I am pain-free from time to time, but I want it G.O.N.E. I'm sorry you had to go through shit, too. That's intense. I would often cry-run, especially when certain songs would come on. Nothing could have prepared me for the feelings I had. It altered my soul, but I'm almost as healed as I think I can be. (Until I'm not )

I just saw your post! I relate to this so much. Right down to hitting my stride and running a half 10 months after ds1. I was training for a full when I broke my leg and ankle. I’ve never been the same again, can’t run further than 5km, and am having hard time finding something I care to bother to do.
This year I’m focusing on finding something joyful for me. I’m going to take some tennis lessons, do some kayak days, try a barre class. I mostly hang out in the noom thread too, just trying to find something that will stick.
