Should we start a chat thread on a monthly or bi-monthly basis depending on activity level? Just a place to check in, say hi, and discuss whatever's up? Btw, I think it's awesome that we're the oldest board here

kleigh926, any updates about your DS? I was thinking about you the other day. I realized the other day that I really love my job As in, I'm on vacation this week (because the DDs have the week off preschool) but I'd really like to be working. I just enjoy it a lot, and I feel very lucky that's the case.

Hi! 😊 DS is doing well. He hasn't had a seizure in 3 1/2 months which is a recoed for him. He's on a new med and we're slowly weaning off the old one. I'm really hopeful that the new one continues to be effective for him! Behavior-wise, he is still quite a challenge a lot of the time. He can be very tantrum-prone about almost anything, and it takes him a looooong time to calm down, plus he is set off a lot more easily again after he's already had a bad tantrum. DH basically can't do anything fun with him because the tantrums DS throws when the activities are over aren't worth it 😑
Other than that, we are in the middle of puppy hell. It's been much harder to have a puppy with two small children than we imagined it would be. We didn't anticipate a lot of the issues we're having. Still hoping we can make it work, but we'll see.

I am glad your son is doing well kleigh926, and dogs are a surprising amount of work aren't they! I am so glad you love your job crimsonandclover! I am doing good loving on my sweet newborn. We are remodeling a house, and while we are having other people do the work, it still is a surprising amount on our end. I feel in over my head with all 5 kids home, trying to keep my house cleaning, packing a little here and there DH working a lot, and the new house. I just want to sit and cuddle my baby and do literally nothing else. He is my last, and I feel bad that so much is on my plate. I think I might buy a wrap or something. I try to hold him all the time, and one hand as much as I can, but you can only do so much one handed. Baby wearing and me have never worked out, but maybe I can figure out this time how to make it comfortable for both of us. I always feel like the baby is all squished up, and my back hurts!! sagen, I wasn't a baby wearer either but with my second she literally wanted to be held ALL THE TIME (she is 19 months, not too much has changed except her weight lol). I had to buy a carrier if I wanted to get anything done. crimsonandclover, amazing to love you job, seriously kleigh926, so glad to hear about your little one! Nothing too new here. Kids are getting big and that makes me sad lol Our new house is great, my son has made a new best friend with the girl next door which is so nice for him. Otherwise just ready to start the summer!

We're getting semi settled in our new town. H is finishing his last week of work and then joining us down south next week! My work is great, this is my first office job so it's a bit of an adjustment for me but I think I'll love it.
I need to go register Mac for school soon, but I'm having such a hard time with it. How is my tiny baby boy ready for full time school??? I just don't want to admit he's this grown up so I'm putting it off. I got the baby enrolled in a full time daycare centre for September though and I'm pretty excited about it!

sagen Have you tried an Ergo? If you have it adjusted correctly it shouldn't really be hurting your back unless you have a relatively heavy kid in it. The Ergo was a life saver for me getting things done when my babies were little.

I love the idea of a bi-monthly check-in. We tend to get quiet otherwise. And I love to hear how everyone is doing! crimsonandclover , I'm glad your job is going so well! kleigh926 , I'm glad your DS is doing better. I think about you guys often. I know he's controversial, but Cesar Millan has a book called How to Raise the Perfect Dog that I like. And my mom used The Art of Raising a Puppy by the Monks of New Skete when we had our lab puppy long ago. I hope you all can work things out! We are still dealing with our senior dog's incontinence and I'm a little concerned over dealing with that, two little kids, and a newborn. sagen , We've just done small projects on our home and they are so inconvenient. I can't imagine a full reno. Hang in there! I haven't had success with comfortable baby-wearing either, but I've always tried the cheaper carriers and with this kid I think I'm going to spring for an Ergo or a Bjorn. We are doing okay over here. DH has been in Shanghai for a week but flies home tonight. I wish I didn't get so frustrated with my DS but he literally never stops talking. Even during his quiet time, I hear him chatting away to himself all alone. We are still stalled on potty training, and I'm getting really nervous with preschool just a few months away. But I'm trying not to push it, as I don't want to turn him completely off to it. I think I've heard him saying the f-word twice this week, but I can't really catch it and he won't cop to it. I'm guessing he picked it up from some kid at tot drop since he went on Tuesday and I first heard him say it Wednesday. Ugh. DD continues to be either a complete ray of sunshine or screaming inconsolable banshee. Never anything in between with that one. She tends towards being happy more often than not, though, and is coming around to the idea of having a new baby in the house. She's in the "do it by myself!" phase so everything takes forever. I'm doing well with the pregnancy. We got confirmation on baby being DD2 yesterday, even though it was still really tough to tell. I'm happy but also a teensy bit disappointed. All my friends are having boys right now, and I loved having a baby boy so much. Also, there is a good chance that means we are done and I haven't really come to terms with that. We'll see. Although with my doctors constantly referencing my "advancing age" (I'm 32), I might hit menopause before I get the chance, haha. I'm going in for that interview I posted about a while back on Monday. I still am unsure what I am going to do, but a bunch of things have come up or have been brought to my attention lately that makes me think if it's the right situation, it wouldn't be a bad thing even if it would be hard. I know I am needing more balance to my life, because 100% SAHM has been really, really tough for me, and it's been hard on my marriage too. So even if this doesn't work out, I'm going to keep looking for something part-time after DD2 is around six months old. By that time, we should be coming up on cheer coach hiring season again, so it won't be too long. Otherwise, we have a couple of trips planned for June and July, but it's business as usual around here.

We are finally getting summer here and I couldn't be happier. I usually SAH most of the time, but I am going to be working two week days at a farm this summer. I've worked there seasonally since 2008, but always an opposite schedule as DH, so it'll be a little more juggling this year. I also committed to watching another 4 year old boy this summer. DS1 is super excited about having a "boy my age" to play with. I hope it works out well. I had a rough last experience with a kiddo, so I was a little gun shy on committing.
DS1 is doing swimming lessons starting in a few weeks and he's super excited. We are hoping to plan a few camping trips this summer and explore as a family. I am loving the ages that my kiddos are now. I feel like I can do fun things with them, by myself. We also signed DS1 up for preschool 3 mornings a week starting in the fall. He is so excited. He has been asking to go back for the last 3 weeks since the open house.

So glad you love your new house colinsfebmommyGlad you like your job and new place too wineandcakeaydee I haven't tried the ergo. I bought a lilebaby, but I need to figure it out. The time I tried it the baby just screamed! My kids seem to like those carriers later, and we use them for hikes, but all my newborns shun them, I think it is my ineptitude haha! Congrats in the baby girl summer, and I hope everything works out well in the job department. That super weird that your doc talks about advancing age! I delivered at 34, but no one breathed a word of AMA. My best friend just had a baby at 35, and she said she was driven nuts with all the AMA talk, so I was glad I snuck in under the wire Good luck with babysitting photomama2013, I bet your son will love it.
