I have, and while it looks amazing, I'm questioning JD as well. However, I'm loving Jude Law as young Dumbledore.

I still feel icky about the whole American wizarding world thing, so I've been avoiding all things FB related. I just watched it. And I have some feelings. Newt Scamander is not a person known for dealing with Grindalwald in the books. Like he's a magizoologist. But whatever.
Dumbledore is a readhead. Jude Law's hair did not look red in that trailer.

This was me when I saw JD at the end of the first movie I'm probably going to watch it. However if I see in-depth stuff about Ilvermorny that's the last one I'll see. I'm not here for unapologetic appropriation of native cultures, especially from someone who pretends to be so aware of the world. It's one thing to talk about the school in a superficial manner, like saying that's where the characters went, and another to give credence to the bs backstory JKR gave on pottermore. I'd be alright if the writers came up with a different, better backstory that totally contradicted what she put out.

This is where I am re: Newt. I liked him in Fantastic Beasts, I found him endearing but I feel like they're stretching for a story line here. Dumbledore was credited with the downfall of Grindelwald in the books.....so where is this story arc coming from? Idk. I feel so protective over the original HP series and I don't want something to come in and tarnish it. Also not loving Jude Law for Dumbledore but maybe he'll do well and my mind will be changed. Also also, I'm typing this as my 2.5 year old watches Sorcerer's Stone. Start 'em young!

Am I the only one that was really disappointed with how the first movie ended? It felt so out of place and forced.

I feel like Johnny Depp is super random for that role. I'm not here for it. I do like Jude Law, though, as Dumbledore.
I really liked the first one. I thought it fit in pretty well in the HP universe. I love love love Eddie Redmayne as Newt. Not sure where they're going with his involvement with Grindelwald. We'll see.
