Why? You don't like the way it looks or you don't like that the parent did it? I don’t like the way it looks 🤷🏼♀️. That's fair. At what age then do you think it looks okay?

I don't like it unless and until the kid can ask it to be done.

I’ve been wearing the same basic necklace my FIL made (goldsmith) and Dh gave me 12 years ago plus my wedding ring, that’s all. So for earrings I guess 14-15? I think earrings can look gorgeous on grownups and I’ve had moments I wish I had my ears pierced. ETA just to clarify my FIL is a goldsmith, he’s had a store for 34 years now and is highly frustrated that something simple he made for his son’s girlfriend of 4 months is still on my neck 12 years on .

That being said, I'll probably let L get her ears pierced when she's like 1st/2nd grade if she consistently asks.

DD has asked 3 times to have her ears pierced. I took her all 3 times and she backed out all 3 times. I'm kinda glad because with her gymnastics schedule. We will be taking them out more than she has them in.
I definitely drank in high school but I have no idea where we got the alcohol from. I'm pretty sure no ones parents bought it but I don't know who did. A lot of local bars also were 18 for girls, 21 for guys (this would never fly now) so I went out with my girlfriends a lot. While the bartenders didn't serve us directly, they turned a blind eye to other people buying drinks.
I'm not worried about my oldest, he has a guilty conscience and tells on himself for everything. T's going to be my challenge.

I've been pumping like 16oz a day and A needs 2oz/day. I feel so accomplished gaving so much extra even though I know he'll start going through it quickly in the near future.

kim22, would she have to take them out if they are just studs? I figured they only had to if they were hoops or dangley ones.

I got my ear pierced when I was 6. Yes, my ear. Not ears. They didn't do them at the same time and I refused to let them do the 2nd one.

My boss sent out an email to 3 of us with a project to complete by Friday. IMO, it is pointless and time consuming but I cranked out my part today so i could get it off my plate. Then I finished another online course that has little to do with my job.
So i feel accomplished but also like I wasted all day on nothing. Oh well.

I may have made a very poor choice. I decided to come to the car wash, like every other person in town. I think I might end up being late to conferences. There’s no way to get out of line so there’s nothing I can do now.
ETA: just checked and my time slot is 4:15, plenty of time!

tgrimes and peachsmama your moms were obviously newbs to the parenting thing still and didn't realize you could be dressed from head to toe in pink with lace and ruffles and some old person would still call you a boy.

At my first studio, we weren't allowed to wear earrings for performances. All the rest of them I attended we were required to wear them. Lol.

Today the anti-vaxx nutters are speculating that those safe drop boxes for babies at hospitals are run by the Clinton Foundation and Hilary herself is taking the infants and they are immediately placed in a sex trafficking ring. Stay crazy, people. I've never been more entertained in my life. I mean, I am by no means a Clinton fan but this is nuts.

Why? You don't like the way it looks or you don't like that the parent did it? I don’t like the way it looks 🤷🏼♀️. Same here. Also, to me it's one of those things where once you do it there's no going back. Now you have holes in your ears, you have to wear earrings. And tbh, I feel like sometimes we as a society are in such a rush for our kids to grow up, and personally this strikes me as one of those things that pushes that process along. eta: I realize there are certain cultures that traditionally do ear piercing on babies/toddlers, and of course there are plenty of people who just think it's cute, etc. No judgement here, KOKO, it's just not for us. I also agree with cagoldi that I think the child needs to be old enough to understand/consent. Seems like 2nd/3rd grade was a pretty popular age to do it when I was in school. I'll probably follow the Hillary Clinton rule. None for B, sorry.

A family at preschool hired Elsa to come today for their daughter's birthday. T asked to go sit in another room because he was afraid Elsa would freeze him.

Maybe FFTC but I would let Dude get his pierced. I can't imagine myself telling him "it's just for girls" or something along those lines. But no way that Would happen anytime before 12, maybe more like 13/14.

I’ll be the lone wolf here who is very OK w piercing babies’ ears. I had mine done at 6weeks (and I’m glad). B had hers done at 3mo.

FFTC I do not like young children with pierced ears. Flame away. No one would flame you. Its pretty unpopular in this country.

Conferences went well. H has improved on a lot of things which is great. Her teacher did inform me that she kissed on of the boys in her class while they were in line for gym one day. So apparently I need to work on teaching her who is ok to kiss and who isn’t.

In other "what the heck is happening in my life news," I just sent my letter into the school district officially resigning because I, technically, have been on maternity leave since October 2013, and they needed a letter by March 15 stating if I would be returning or not. Ugh!!
