Does US govt agree with GCHQ that a deadly nerve agent used to kill two Britons originated in Russia and will there be repercussions for Russia from the US?
SHS reads a canned, pathetic response that doesn't even mention Russia.

How come POTUS criticised his predecessors for not showing leadership on the guns issue but now is saying that he can only do what Congress will go along with?

John Gizzi: sources are saying that Trump called Soccone weak in the PA-18th. So why campaign for him? Did he say that?
SHS: I have read the Hatch Act. I am aware of the Hatch Act. But POTUS made public comments on Saturday so you should just accept those as his thinking.

Mara: Trump tweeted that there's not much political support for raising the age limit but polling shows that at minumum 70 percent of Americans support it.
Well but the people polled can't make laws, Congress can.
Ummmm it's Congress' job to represent their constituents you assholic blobs of filth.

I agree with this being dangerous for children of color. I was also thinking about stories my mom has told me about teaching. (She teaches high school). Being spit on, cursed out, threatened, etc. It is already difficult for teachers to hold their cool in those situations. Arming them sounds like an absolutely terrible idea. I would worry some would snap. I teach elementary and we have had some students with major behavioral issues in the past who have hurt staff members. In addition to children of color or children with behavioral issues being shot by an escalated adult, I fear an escalated student grabbing a weapon off a staff member's person. More instruments of death =/= less violence. Just like two wrongs don't make a right. Jesus. ETA: missing words

I agree with the points you've all made about the insanity and danger of arming teachers. But another thing I can't get over is the main reason it's allegedly been trotted out is as a deterrent, which makes no sense when you consider how many of the mass shootings in just the last few years were in places with armed personnel. I mean, there was an active shooter on a damned military base - the shooter clearly wasn't deterred, 13 people died and dozens more were injured. Despite all those good guys with guns... These shooters aren't scared off by the them, it's a fact. This is clearly a cash grab by the NRA and gun manufacturers, at the expense of our educational system and our kids' safety. RAGE.

I also have a serious issue with this. If you found out the school you send your kids to was going to start arming teachers, would you change schools? In a goddamned heartbeat. I will home school, if it comes to that. I know not everyone is able to not work and home school, though.
