It’s not the most thrilling but here ya go.
Since my first two were breech and needed a c/s we had just scheduled a RCS for 3/15 (@ 39w). I had been having a ton of BH, but at my most recent appointment I was only 1cm. I had this feeling I wasn’t going to make it to my RCS, but no real reason to think I wouldn’t.
I had been sleeping on our leather reclining sofa because I’ve been so uncomfortable. At 3:15am on Tuesday (3/6) early morning I woke up to what I initially thought was me peeing all over myself only to realize pretty quick I was not peeing. My water had broken and just kept coming and coming. DH called my MIL to come watch the girls and we both got quick showers. During this time I lost my plug and had a couple contractions. Once MIL arrives we headed on down.
I was only having contractions every 10m and was only 2cm. Since I was a RCS with reptured membranes and 37w5d they admitted me and started getting prepped for a C/S. It was a slow morning in L&D so they said it would be soon, it was about 6am at this point. I asked about getting a stork nurse. The stork nurses need to be present if I want to do skin to skin and breastfeeding in the OR. They told me she wasn’t on until 7am, but since I wasn’t progressing quickly and it wasn’t an emergency they asked if I wanted to wait until her shift stared. I told them I did.
Shortly after 7am I was taken into the OR to get prepped. I got a spinal and an epidural, not sure why. DH was brought back and John was born at 7:43am. Afterwards they asked if we still wanted my tubes removed. We confirmed and the second part of surgery started. We were told it would only add 10mins, but they lied. It was almost 40 more mins. I was super shaky and halfway through my tubal I started to feel everything and it hurt like hell. DH said he thought I was going to break his hands from squeezing so hard. I told the stork nurse to grab John. I did get more meds in my spinal but the rest of surgery was really uncomfortable and couldn’t wait for it to be over.
John’s glucose was low for a couple days and his temps were up, but nothing crazy and we were all released on 3/9.
