Is anyone else still struggling? We don't even have a list anymore and this baby will probably be referred to as such for a good while.

If I were naming this baby myself, with no input from my stubborn partner, they'd be Maeve or Silas. SO doesn't like either. DS says we should name it Bunny Kitten Freya.
Freya is our cat. I'd use it if it wasn't.

Nameberry has a name generator that helped us add Arlo and Luc to our list the other night, which made me feel a lot better.
We have a boy list and a girl list but they're... short. And not in a, "we love these few names" way.
BLAH!

I love Luc. We had Lucien on our list last time. J suggested it again but... we have a Bo.

We don't have a name either. We have a few we like but aren't sure of. There is definitely no middle name. We decided on DS's name about 48 hours before he was born so maybe we will figure it out around then this time too.

We don’t have a first name and haven’t even talked about a middle name. I just can’t find anything with any spark to it. I feel like I’ve exhausted Nameberry’s name hunter.

Thankfully DH is not that picky and likes most of the few names that I love, so we're set, but I'll throw out some names from our long list in case they give anyone inspiration. Will include mns since they're family names so a different style.
Boys: Sebastian Paul Alastair Jonathan Nicodemus? Octavian Sterling Carlisle Alaric Pierce Damien
Girls: Celestine Catalina Octavia Bianca Georgianna Sabrina Brielle Hadassah

I have a short list of names but not a top pick. I hope we can figure out what we like shortly after the baby gets here today.

I love Alaric alwayscheese! And thank you for mentioning Celestine and Sabrina because they remind me of Celeste and Sabine, which I love. I'm going to have to run them by SO.

We have two boy options and a girl name picked out. Ironically they are really my picks but DH is ALL IN and now I’m not so sure. I feel like I always worry that there is something better that I’m just not considering. Hopefully the names fit the baby when it’s here. I really really need to see the baby to make a final decision.
More FFMCs: the ILs are probably expecting a “third” and I’m anxiously awaiting their response if it’s a boy and not DH III. I hate DH’s MN. And I’m firmly in the “you get the last name so I get more say over the first/middle names” camp.

Nameless here too. DH and I discussed names exactly one time and let’s just say it was not productive. DH has pretty much named both of our children, but this time his suggestion was a strike out (girl’s name with a major 80s feel: DNW).
DS2 has named the baby Carrot, so there’s always that if we can’t come up with anything else!

Leaf 🌱 all the mns that I have picked to use for our children come from my family, but I'm not feeling much guilt because DH doesn't seem to have any he wants to use plus they get his last name. Unless this baby is born on the 19th which is DH's grandpa's birthday. Then we might tack his name(Eli) on as another middle name. Grandpa died before DH was born so DH has Eli in the middle and neither of us met him and the nephew born in December has Eli in the middle so we're not planning on using it otherwise.

We finally just decided on a middle name this past week. I got DH to come around to my side🙌🏻 He claims I got to pick the first name too, but when I suggested it he said he liked that one the best and had nothing else to offer so🤷🏼♀️
DS will be Ow/en Calla.han LongPolishLastName😊

L had no name until he was over 24 hours old. Our parents and friends were badgering us hardcore all day and we were stuck between 2 names. We only finally decided bc the lady came to do the newborn hearing screening and said she could put his name on the certificate. So she was the first to know! I love love love Luc (and Luca) snowmoon. Would have been on our list if we didn’t have a close family member with a similar name. Leaf 🌱 that’s such a hard situation. I wish there weren’t so much pressure to continue a family name. If (general) you love it and it fits, then use it by all means, but it’s completely unfair feeling like you have to use a certain name and not have any input in the naming of your child, which is such an important and personal thing. I hope your ILs will understand. mrsmonogrammed I love call.ahan! That’s the first time I’ve heard it. It sounds really good with the first name.

I'm glad you guys like Luc! We have generally frenchy first names for 1 and 2. MH was worried silly americans would want to pronounce it "Luck." Thoughts?
Also, #2 is named maternalgreatgrandmother-paternalgrandmother #1 is named paternalgreatgrandfather-maternalgrandfather
It worked out because we loved the names.
So MH wants to do the same for #3, but I am not sold on the remaining names. Ugh.

ovenrack my coworker went with Luke for that reason. Her whole family lives in France but they decided that it was cause too many issues since their primary residence is in the US. I’m very “make your kid’s life easier” in regards to names unless you feel very very strongly or it’s a family name. clementine IDGAF what my ILs think but I am VERY curious to see their reaction if it’s a boy. If DH was really attached to the idea it would be a serious conversation but he’s not. He honestly hasn’t ever really suggested a name but will just veto things I throw out there. I think he likes not having the pressure of coming up with them LOL

If Luc seems too weird, I'll go with something else. I'm also very into making my kids names easier, but I think my standards are different - whoops, you know what I mean - my husband has a French name which is VERY french, so something like Luc seems way more manageable. Like "Etienne" or "Pierre" are definite nos, because I find them way more un-easy than, say, Henri.

And they're French names because we both have french parents/grandparents. I don't really care that we aren't ourselves French.
I mean, I was all for naming my kids Rosemary, River, and Lavender, but MH vetoed that, so how weird can French names really be?!

We're set on a first name (Micah) but haven't talked about the middle name in months. DH thinks that since it hasn't come up in awhile, we're set on Lawrence as the MN but I'm waffling. Mostly because I'm weird and kind of prefer NOT to have each part of the name be two syllables.
I'm looking at three syllable names and none are jumping out at me except Oliver. I'm probably going to ask DH to consider that one since it would have been a FN front runner if it weren't so popular.

I don't think Luc would be confused with Luck, but it might get spelled as Luke a lot. Yup this is mostly what I was thinking about. It goes for any name where you don’t pick the most common spelling though - our girl name has multiple spellings too. I’m trying to figure out what is most common since IDC which way we go.

We're down to 3 FN options (Leo, Theo, Miles) with the MN Patrick. We intended to go into the birth with a short list and choose after meeting him, which we also did with DS1.
I am going to go back through the revision history of our Google doc and see if any of the rejects speak to us with fresh eyes. Just in case. (That's actually how DS1 got his name!)
