What items have you used that did not live up to the hype? What items have you used that are underrated? What things will have to be pried from your cold, dead hands before you give them up?

Overated: Roombas. We've had several robot vacuum cleaners and they always die just after the warranty runs out. Not worth the $$$. I think my long hair kills them.

sammichcat I’ve never invested in one but always felt like it was goals. I feel less left out/better for not having bought one now so thanks.

Oh. I beg to differ. I love my Roomba. Or house is one level with mostly wood floors or low pile carpet. I love that I can start it, walk away, and know it does a better job than I ever would.
I got a Braava, the mop version, for Christmas. I like it but it takes forever to finish. We're talking 2 hours for my maybe 200sq foot kitchen.

Two kitchen items I never knew I needed and won't give up: mortar&pestle and my new Pampered Chef garlic press. Grinding dried herbs makes them so much more flavorful. And that garlic press, you don't even have to peel the garlic! It's more effective than any other one I've ever used and I don't have to have garlic hands.

Essential: egg cooker. Overrated: wipe warmer.

I love my robotic vacuum. It’s not a roomba but a different brand. We have dark wood floors and my dog sheds so bad so I love that I no longer have dog hair on my floors.

I am forever a decade or two behind when it comes to home goods, so there might be something even better, but I do love my Ninja blender and food processor. We just "made snow" using it out of ice.

Also love our roomba. It helps with the day to day stuff, but I still use our Shark twice a week. Because dog

I use my ninja every day.
I can take or leave the robot vacuum but DH loves it and actually picks stuff up so we can run it so that's a win. I do like the robot mop though.

I'm really enjoying my Instant Pot. I've used it way more in 6 months than I've used my Crock Pot in 8.5 years

I just got a WiFi crockpot and it has been great! I’m gone for so long during the day, and I can operate it from work so stuff doesn’t get mushy. I haven’t tried the instant pot yet.

MH got me a rice cooker a few years back. One of those ones with a mini computer in it. It's so awesome. We use it ALL the time. Obviously we make perfectly fluffy rice, but it also perfectly cooks dried beans, I love making pulled pork in it, and I've even used it to "bake" a few times. The one I have is fairly basic as far as smart rice cookers go, and I actually really really want one of the more advanced ones :-)

I know I'm in the minority for quite a few items: I also love our wipe warmer and am not a big fan of the Instapot just because it's so much harder to clean than my crock pot with liners.
I do love my ninja, though I don't use it that often; it's awesome!
Must haves: Crock pot liners, bread machine, cordless vacuum cleaner and Swiffer wet jet (DS#1 loves vacuuming and mopping so having something light and easy to use is essential to capitalize on my luck)

Overrated: keurig. We’re on our third in 6 years. Essential: reusable grocery bags that clip into the buggy (not the brand I have, but like this) I don’t think the instant pot is magic but like jessila I love that it allowed me to make supper without interacting with cooking meat, nor did I have to set it up in the morning like I would’ve my crock pot.

I liked my original Keurig, but then we upgraded to the 2.0 for the carafe. I'm the only one that drinks coffee at home 99% of the time, so the single cup thing was super convenient. I wasn't remotely a fan at all. We got a Ninja coffee bar in August and I really like it.

DH splits equally between coffee, spiced apple cider, and iced tea; the variety of his drinks is what has kept us with keurig, even though they die every couple years.
