And not feeding issues but to add to that: SO is working so much because we are still carrying the two mortgages so he’s never here, the Reno is still not done and going over budget, I have no patience for the 4yo who is stuck inside watching too much TV and playing by himself so much because I have no patience, energy and the weather is fucking awful still. So I feel guilty all the time.
One day I’m going to look back and laugh at how utterly insane these few months are but omg today is not that day.

leatherpants, sending supportive thoughts to you. If he's got reflux, try the meds if you want to get from his pediatrician. And if that's not the cause, then you need a time machine to get pass this stage.

Huge hugs leatherpants. You can do this and like you said, this will be a relatively short period of time in the grand scheme of things. FX Monday comes quickly and the reflux meds are the answer!

leatherpants, it will absolutely not always be like this. Talk to the pedi about all those issues, and get reflux meds if they're appropriate. You're already taking a lot of steps to help, so I hope they are. You're a rockstar and you will get through it. And try not to feel guilty. You won't always have two mortgages (been there, friend), the weather will improve, your baby will eat and sleep, and your reno will be done. Your 4yo will happily survive too much TV. I totally understand the guilt, but this phase of life will change soon. I'm sorry it's such a hard time. That SUCKS. And is unfair.

Update: we had an excellent day and night of feeding (and therefore sleeping) so complaining is v effective.
Thanks for making me look crazy B.

Ok now I'm playing the game "what is this lump in my armpit?". How far back do I have to scroll to find where this was discussed? Or can someone tell me if there's something I should do? It's in the middle of armpit, not side of boob at all, pea size? but painful. That was me and I don't know that I ever figured out what it was. I am leaning towards clog because I had several appear for a few days then when my milk finally started to go away, so did they. I put hot wash clothes on them and massaged them in the bath and shower but honestly that didn't seem to help. Are you taking lecithin? I started taking that for a few days, it's supposed to prevent clogs

Oh leatherpants, that is a lot for one person to have on their plate. I’m sorry that it’s been so difficult in so many ways. I promise it’s going to get better, and one day you will look back and cry-laugh about these days. But it’s also okay to rage at it while it’s happening now. Keep taking it one day/hour/feed at a time, and like ovenrack said, don’t hesitate to push your pediatrician about reflux meds. Don’t feel guilty about the screen time - this is a phase, not to the permanent new normal. Lots of hugs. Hang in there and cut yourself a lot of slack. These early months are no joke.

so glad you had a better day/night leatherpants. i hope your appointment goes well tomorrow and that your pedi is there to listen to you. i am in the same boat with the screen time and feeling like i’m parenting alone a lot of the time. it’s like i’m just white-knuckling it right now. this is only a phase and won’t last forever. you’re doing a great job and you’ll get through it!

Ditto Rama. I just want to be able to get sweat and baby spit off me without a milky moisturizer.

Thankfully my pp sweats are starting to stop. For weeks I’ve been waking up soaking wet and I can’t tell what’s sweat and what’s milk.
So. Much. Laundry.

It's in the middle of armpit, not side of boob at all, pea size? but painful. So, I had responded to this with cornpop when it happened with her (I think it was her?) about it being a knick from a razor but I found out something the other day. Apparently sometimes there can be extra breasts tissue in your armpit (and other areas of your body) that contain milk ducts. So what happens is they fill up with milk but because they have no way out (via the nipple) they just become engorged and cause pain. Basically apply a cabbage leaf to the area for comfort until the duct dries itself out.

I was reading about this too! It seems like it would have happened before 5 weeks postpartum though?? And I wondering about it being from shaving also. But I haven't shaved since at least 24 hours before feeling that lump and now there's three more, two on each armpit. I read something when googling that if it lasted a week to talk to the Dr. So I'll pry call in a couple days and see what they say.

Even after having her tongue tie clipped, E has a shitty latch. It's so hard to get her to open her mouth wide enough and I have to hold my boob for her the entire time. They're not huge so it's frustrating to not have a free hand. And lefty has a super fast letdown so she ends up coughing and sputtering everytime.
And she just spit up like 2 hours after eating. Is that normal? It doesn't seem normal.

I feel like my supply on the side where I had the cracked nipple has tanked. I was using a nipple shield on it since Thursday night to feed and felt well enough to feed without it on Monday.
Boob does not seem to be getting full between feedings. 🤔

Boob does not seem to be getting full between feedings. 🤔 I thought the same thing was happening to me, but I'm pretty sure I just regulated and my boobs got used to the amount instead of being overwhelmed by it. I rarely get engorged the same way with rock hard boobs, but I'm still feeding her/pumping the same amount out.

I've gotten fairly low output the last couple of times I pumped. I should probably not be pumping right after he eats as I am only getting drops.
It's hard to find a good time to pump when he is now feeding every 1.75 - 2.5 hours.

snowmoon, we have a hard time getting him to open wide enough on one side as well. LC assessed the latch and the shallow latch isn't tongue tie related but that the left nipple is big for the size of his mouth right now. Boggles my mind since I am like a 34A/B during pregnancy.

That's what I figured. She just has a wittle mouth. Even the newborn pacifiers (that she refuses) take up half her face.

snowmoon, glad to hear that my guy isn't the only one who isn't taking to the pacifier. I haven't decided yet if that is a good or bad thing. Kid 1 did take to it, but I've forgotten about the beginning process.

We just got home from an appt at the lactation clinic. L nursed for 6.5 min and transferred 1.5 oz, then nursed for another 3 min and transferred another 1 oz. so apparently his 5-10 min feeds are enough! Which I’m so relieved to hear because I was getting really stressed trying to get him to nurse longer each time. She also said don’t worry about a routine/schedule and that Babywise has been associated with lactation failure? Which is a little alarming, but I’m not really sure how if you’re still responding to baby’s cues like the book recommends. Either way, I’ll chill on the routine business for now. I do want to try to work on some more independent sleep in a month or so.
She also said we should start with a bottle a day since I go back to work in a month. Any tips on starting bottle feedings? She said to bottle feed and pump for that missed nursing session. So then I should use the pumped milk for the bottle the next day?

clementine that would be the ideal set up, but i would probably want to start pumping maybe a few days before actually giving him a bottle so you have a little surplus beforehand.
