We have a narrow open concept space. Here are pics Walking in. The second pic is open space to the left of the door Previously I had the chair on the other side of the couch but just moved it today to open up the walkway. However now Dh feels like his chair is in the kitchen. The area rug will be replaced when Max dies. Given how much puke I clean it’s not worth replacing right now. We also took the leaf out of our dining table to make it a four seater since never use it. Here is the view from Dhs chair towards the front door. Lastly here is the view from the kitchen I will be having the “dining room” light changed to a pot light. The builder put it in an odd spot. So my questions- is there a better way to arrange the furniture? The tv stand needs to stay there since the cable is there. What would you put in all that open space from the front door to the living area? That chaise can go. It’s old but we put it there for filler. And I don’t want to totally fill the open space since we play hover ball frequently in the area. flamingo and everyone help!

I hate how my walls look yellow in pics. They are more of an off white with a tint of yellow.

Love the tv stand! I'm wondering about moving the bench to the opposite wall? Right now it feels kinda like a long line of furnature seating along that wall one wall? Or adding some height? Tall lamp, plant, ect. I think I'd also shift the tv and chair down a bit away from the kitchen I think?
We need flamingo!

Everything is very...square/rectangular? Have you noticed that?
I think that's what makes it all so hard to plan in this space!

Where the bench is I’d put a table or bookcase. That way you can display things and have a place for people to set their purse or whatever when they come over.
ETA: put the bench under the front window too.

I love the tv stand! I’d put the bench under the front window and a console/entry table where the bench is. I’d also put maybe a narrow ladder bookcase on the wall under the stairs. (Very narrow so you don’t loose walkway space).
Also, I freaking love your paneling. Have I mentioned how jealous I am over these older style houses??

What if you turned your dining room table horizontally (and maybe deeper into the kitchen?) so it made a bigger living space ?
And you could leave the chair where it is and even put a really low side table (or one of those fabric or leather storage Ottomans) next to it under the window or in front of the chair. I love love love TV cabinet! I would turn the bench and place it under the window and then do a longer cabinet under the painting. Im not sure what kind, but maybe one that has open shelves or a mixture of open shelves and rattan [no idea this is the right word] baskets under the painting.

I worry if you put that ottoman under the front window it will cut down on that walk space from the entry. But that may just be the angle of the pictures. But I would put a small sofa like table under that painting. I love that room, but I can see how furniture placement would be difficult.
Also, link to roman shades? I love those!

I picked the fabric and sent it to her and she made them. It was an flamingo recommendation. They make me very happy!

I think if you turn you kitchen table 90° and then maybe square up the side chair, you can have storage or a bookcase in the back corner. Also like the idea moving the bench towards the front window. Almost like a staging area to get out the door. Is there a hall closet at the foot of the stairs? If you bought a pretty substantial sideboard or buffet for under the picture, I don't think you would need much on the side with the stairs. A rug in this area would also help make it look more complete. Maybe a large circular rug?

Then maybe my table wouldn’t be storage. I’d like a rug in that space but again, once we are cat less. I don’t want to get mad at Max ruining a new rug. I’ll be on the lookout for a sideboard. That’s a good idea and maybe I will get my china out of the basement!

I’d make that front area like a mud room kind of. Get a coat tree to put in the corner, a low bench with cubbies underneath for guests’ shoes, a nice rug. Then down under the picture do a sideboard.

Do you guys regularly use the front door for coming and going or do you have a back/garage door?

wedding yay!! Glad you love it. I think it looks great. Since there isn't a coat closet, what about a coat rack in the corner with the bench? Does it open up? If so I'd store shoes/gloves/hats etc in it.

Lol we have two coat closets, one off the garage and on at the top of the stairs. My coat, purse and lunch bag are currently sitting on my kitchen table.

I don’t know if my ocd can handle coats uncovered at the front door. I know it’s crazy but st least they are slightly tucked away in the dining area.
We usually come in through the garage. I would put stuff there but then my shoes are cold.

We do have a closet across from the garage door but it’s filled with Cs toys. Maybe I can clear that out now that the basements finished and get coats/shoes in there

I was thinking the coat tree would be for guests coats, not yours.

I agree that adding some height to break up the "line" of furniture would help. Does Max destroy plants? Maybe a tree or spider plant in a cool pot by that window between the couch and bench? And/or in that corner behind the recliner?
Love the new table orientation...and your house is beautiful.

In the long hallway maybe a bench with coat rack which could help your no closet situation. Example (I can't find the exact one I wanted to show you):
