I thought I read that they can begin to transition to around 2 solid naps at this age but lol M has never followed the rules and didn’t nap from like 3-5 ish months. I’m happy with 2 but just wish the afternoon one wasn’t usually a catnap. Well I still can’t get A to nap without being on me, or being in the car. Lol I don’t even know how to begin setting any type of nap routine really. I guess I just thought it would organically fall into a rhythm? j fell asleep on us or in the car until 4.5 months and then I decided it couldn't go on anymore. He would fall asleep, we would gold him for 20 minutes then put him down. Sometimes he would sleep sometimes he would be up in like 10 minutes. It was driving us crazy. That's when we did cio to sleep in the crib at night which wasn't too bad and then for naps. Our nap routine is simple. ..we go into his room and turn on the small lamp. Then we do sleep sack, shut the shades, a song or a book ( or several if he ain't that tired), turn on white noise, kiss, crib, lights out. It takes 5 to 10 minutes tops. Like I said before sometimes he falls asleep instantly, sometimes he cries for 5 to 10 minutes. He then sleeps between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours. Most naps are between 40-50 minutes. It's not the best but having at least 30 minutes to shower or use the bathroom or make lunch feels glorious after almost 5 months of holding him for naps.

J is a complete mess tonight. He slept 3 hours then I fed him, then he was up after an hour and a half, then 30 minutes, then 30 minutes . After wailing for 25 minutes I'm giving in and feeding him again. Not sure what's going on but mama is tired.

Ugh! Sorry the night was so rough, king26. Ours sucked too. Baby h had his 6 month shots plus a flu shot yesterday and seemed fine. He slept from 8 to 1, but then woke with a 102.6 fever. That seems a little high to me for a reaction from the shots. I changed him into cooler clothes and gave him Tylenol bc he was so upset. He then woke up 4 or 5 times for the rest of the night. I know my Drs doesn't get truly concerned unless fever is over 104 but anyone else have a relatively high fever after 6 month shots?

Ugh sorry for the rough nights ladies! thinkchocolate05, we haven’t had 6 months shots yet. Her appt is late, not till March 5th. How’s his temp this morning? So they give a flu shot now? I know it’s after 6 months but figured it would just be this fall. Is it because the season is so bad?

jt2378 She recommended the flu shot bc there are two months of flu season left, he's in daycare, his providers don't get the shot, and the toddler is a germ factory! I was on the fence since this year's shot wasn't a great match, but I'm so scared of the flu that I went ahead and got it for him. He has to get a booster in a month.

I opted out of the flu shot this year, but he was fine after his 6 months shots since he’d had most of them before. I wouldn’t be surprised if the fever was from the flu shot, I get phantom symptoms for at least a day or two when I get the shot. Fever, achy, chills, ect. How does he seem today?

A only had 2 wake ups last night, both were the standard feeding times. When will I know it’s time to drop a feed? He’ll sleep through that time? He did decide to be up for the day at 6:45, but I’ll take that! The night before he was up every 2 hours.
When do babies start to bring themselves up to a seated position while laying down? He loves to he sitting up, but doesn’t seem to know how to do it himself.

I don’t know if it’s out of habit or really is hungry but I’m ok with it right now. I guess I will see if she drops it on her own or if we have to CIO. M kind of leans her body forward but can’t pull herself up yet. I forget when my first did it.

My body still likes to wake up randomly of course, but that’ll change soon.

Missed yesterday bc work was INSANE. Thank god im off today! Last two nights N has been pretty good. Sunday night he woke up a few times before 1am but DH shushed him back to sleep and then he slept til 6:15. No MOTN feedings! Last night he woke up at 1, I shushed him and then he slept til 6am! I BF and then DH snuggled him before work and he fell back asleep and slept til 8:15, and played alone in his crib til I got him at 8:45. That half hour of hearings him babble on the monitor but still able to just lay in bed and doze was amazing! Pretty sure it means tonight he’ll be a monster but 🤷🏻♀️ I’ll take whatever I can get. king26 growth spurt so he needs to eat more?? I’m not sure We tried green beans last night, he didn’t like the taste but he didn’t gag like w the avocado. We got prepare baby food bc I kept telling DH the avocado wasn’t puréed enough for him and we don’t have a baby food machine yet and was he going to come home and boil then mash the green beans or apples or carrots? I didn’t think so. We also don’t have a steamer pot so we can’t even steam his food. We need to order a baby food machine tonight!

I’ve just been using the bullet we have to make smoothies and it’s been just fine. So great he’s sleeping well too! Maybe the tides are turning for all of these A17 babies. 🙌🏼

I have a regular blender, not a bullet. I wonder if that would work. I guess I should also ask my nanny what she thinks bc if she’s up for cooking his food and we don’t have to buy something new to do it, that would be awesome, too.

Sorry I haven't been around much! The twins' nanny is still out so we've been piecing care together as best as we can. My class has started picking up too, so it's been hard to keep up.
Twins are doing pretty well, although they are definitely fussier. E is still slow to warm up to solids, D is still super clingy, and I'm all around exhausted.
I'm starting to wean off pumping and should be done by mid-March. Just waiting for their 6 month (technically 7 months) check up to make sure all looks good. Hopefully, they've both taken more to solids by then.
Will keep trying to check in!

M is not a fan of solids either happyfeet9. Hooray to weaning off pumping! I loathe it so you are a rockstar going this long! I missed what happened with your nanny but that must be rough

I missed what happened with your nanny but that must be rough She had eye surgery - she's doing fine but needed the days off. Yeah - I'm really just pumping at this point to give the twins the extra immune boost. They are 50/50 BM and formula. We could probably keep going like this for another month or two but it was never my intent to EP for a year and now that they are getting more alert and mobile, I'd rather spend my time being more engaged with them and not tied to a pump.

J had 3 short naps and 1 hour l9ng one today. I hope he sleeps better ton8ght. Last night was crazy. I do think it's growth spurt, and of leap 5, and teething . If he is miserable tonight I'm giving tylonal . He had been sleeping pretty well at night but last night we had to let him cry multiple times and it was exhausting. He's been rubbing his eyes and tired now so I'm feeding before he goes down.
Work is wearing me out. I work all day with kids who have behavior and learning problems then o come home and hang with J for a few hours, have an hour of quiet before bed then pass out until he wakes up. But work has been hectic, the weather change is making my kids a mess, and everyone needs Me for something. Plus I have a million meetings scheduled this month and have to wrote sub plans.

Is anyone else's baby starting to be leery of strangers? J cries around people a lot now and I hate it. Also, do you have to drive far to go to relatives houses? I drove 2.5 hours each way yesterday and he did great until the last 20 miles then it was me letdown central. Catching up, but Hudson is starting to side eye strangers. He is very hesitant and usually starts crying if a relative (not familiar with) holds him. Yes, all of our family still lives in NJ, so it’s at least a2 hour drive. It’s been a while since we went up, but the last time we did he had a meltdown the lastv30 minutes. I am planning on heading up for a Day next week and hope I don’t have to deal with a meltdown

Last night was awful!! I lost count of how many times baby h woke, and he was sad and seemed in pain. He usually goes right down even he wakes but he was up over an hour, fussing. I gave him Tylenol around 3 but it didn't seem to help much. I think it's a combination of six month shots and teething.

I use a food processor and just stem the stuff a bit longer than if I had a bullet. I made most of my daughter's food in the beginning because she was picky. J eats everything so I will stop soon because I can't keep up!

I’m enjoying some kid free time this morning, by lining up outside DS’ preschool for fall registration. Starting at 6:30am. It’s like preschool Black Friday! Slightly ridiculous, but I got to drink coffee and eat breakfast in the fresh air. And DH is dealing with the morning shenanigans.

I think he is teething and his eczema is really bothering him. I hope H feels better today.

The stuff his teacher brought up at our conference I thought was insane to expect from 2/3/4 year olds.

DS1 has been in a structured daycare program for 1.5 years now and I was still amazed by what I was told. We go by match system here - ranking schools is tough, so many factors come into play.
