Question: my bff just sent out an invite email for her boyfriend’s 40th birthday. It’s in 2 weeks, at a bar downtown (30 min away) starting at 8:30pm. Baby E is ebf and will be 7 weeks old then. We have not yet attempted pumping and bottles. 8:30 is peak witching hour for us - she only wants the boob, amidst much crying. Would you: a) decline; b) go and bring the baby; c) go and leave the baby with grandparents. Just curious what others would do. 🙂 C, C, a million times C! You deserve a night off and baby will be fine :-) witching hour is nonexistent for my kids when someone else watches them. They save that special together time just for my husband and I 😬

Definitely wouldn’t do B. So it’s between A and C depending on how the days are going right before the party.

I went to the grocery store and survived 🙌🙌 there was a minor incident of spilled raspberries in the produce section and it was lunchtime hangry meltdowns when we got home but everyone is alive and is now fast asleep and we have food in our house. With any luck I will be fast asleep soon myself!!

Why isnt my baby comprised of the best parts of DS1 and the best parts of DS2 just like I assumed? You know, great napper and efficient eater like DS2 and champion STTN-er like DS1. I thought this was how 3rd babies worked. Everyone told me my third would go with the flow. She is the most stubborn of all of them. 🤷🏼♀️ Any guesses on if number four will be strong willed too? I’m basically just here doing my strong willed children’s bidding. 🤦🏼♀️

I have tried this a number of times but I always get through adding things to my online cart and then something goes wrong like I need an item that isn't listed online, or I haven't hit the dollar threshold for cheap delivery, or the only time slots for pickup are like 2 days away. I also am anal and just like picking out things myself 😂 DD1 can walk alongside the cart no problem but I would have to wear one of the other girls and put one in the cart and I can't decide which option is easier 🤔 DD2 is almost 2 and I can easily throw her on my back which leaves my hands free and is nice but she is heavy haha. I can throw DD3 in a ring sling but then it is harder to sling around heavy groceries and the other children. Don't worry, I will probably overthink it all day until my husband comes home from work and then will chicken out and leave some or all of the children home with him 😂 I haven’t used it yet because DS2 is still too young to go out but I bought a cart hammock thingy for baby so DS1 can sit in the cart but I don’t have to baby wear. It’s called Binxy Baby. And the binxy baby can act as a hammock for the infant seat too! Hello bigger Target runs.

bassa I would not bring the baby. That won't be much fun for you. If you want to go I would go and if you don't feel like you would be comfortable or enjoy it don't go. DH and I have a date planned this weekend or week while his parents are here. I have done 2 practice bottles though I think we may do brunch to avoid the witching hour.

On the not winning side of things, I used the Haakaa, spilled half the milk, and put what was left into a bottle... that I apparently left on the counter for 2 hours. Facepalm. I guess baby is getting formula tomorrow!

bassa I guess I'm the party pooper! I would decline. I'd be up for taking the baby if it were to someone's house for a party, but not to a bar. And I'm not ready to leave my baby at 7w. My friends all know that is my style though, so I know it wouldn't offend my BFF or her BF. I might invite them over to our house for dinner or brunch or something though to do something special since it is a big milestone b-day. That might depend on how close I am personally to the BF though.

I have always heard 5-6 hours at room temp or 5-6 Days in the fridge so definitely still good. Eta: I left the bottle out on purpose for a few hours till DS woke up and was ready to drink if

Breastmilk can sit out many hours before it goes bad. Just smell it. But I’m sure it’s fine!

So I got the main floor vacuumed and mopped. I'm going to put some method restore stuff on it tonight and that'll be that done!
Snow has started here. I've had a couple contractions, but idk if that's bc I've been so busy today or if I'm being hopeful.

Anyone’s baby’s gas legit stink? I don’t remeber that from my boys. I’m realizing I’ve forgotten a lot of things.

I think the witching hour phase is starting. She’s not bad quite yet but I’ve noticed the past couple nights around 4/5ish she’s been WIDE awake and irritable and fussy for a couple hours. It’s nowhere NEAR as bad as it was with DD1... she is a much much more chill baby than DD1 ever was. So FX that this is as bad as it gets!

I opted for ring sling for DD3, DD2 (2 years old) in cart, and DD1 (3 years old) walked. It worked out pretty nicely although I am still going to check out that cart sling mentioned upthread! It almost came unraveled when a friendly produce clerk offered to go grab a kiddy sized cart for my 3 year old. Nooooooo 😱😱

marygracerich, helloerrbody thanks for providing info on how long your LO is up between feedings during the day J fights sleep SO bad during the day. I am at a loss. he will go sometimes over 2 hours between feedings without sleeping. then he gets overtired and makes it even more difficult to fall asleep. he is a fussy, overtired little guy

I guess baby is getting formula tomorrow! I know others have chimed in. I've always followed the 6-6-6 rule. 6 hours room temp, 6 days in fridge, 6 months in freezer (up to 12 months in deep freeze) I always take his next bottle as he finishes one so I constantly have milk out.

I haven't had enough coffee to tag everyone but thank you for the milk tips! I am rusty on the rules. Next time I will sniff and save!! The one reason I hate the Haakaa is that I manage to knock it over allll the time. I am clumsy AF.
Tonight I am having Mexican food and margaritas with my friend who did our birth and newborn photography! And I am glad I made it to the grocery store because we are apparently supposed to get a terrible ice storm tomorrow and Tuesday. Now we can hunker down and not leave the house!

So it looks like we got some 3" of snow, and it's already melting off my driveway. No snowstorm baby for me!
We're continuing our cleaning marathon this weekend. I am basically all set for Easter at this point (probably over prepared to be honest) other than candy. If I do need induction again which, at this point, looks likely, miss thing will not be born until Feb 28/Mar 1 ish 😩😩😩

DH just took the older three girls out to breakfast. In theory that’s great, his goal was to give me some ‘alone’ time. I won’t complain but it was a last minute decision on his part. I honestly would have preferred to go with them, and it magically would have timed out perfectly with feedings and naps. But it’s tough to be spontaneous with 4 kids and get myself ready. I would have had plenty of time to get ready this morning if I had any idea that he would want to go out. We are quite opposite in that I am a planner thru and thru, and he just isn’t. Wasn’t a problem when it was just us. Or we had just one kid. Now it drives me nuts.

I’m feeding little man. I need to start my cleaning but MH wants to shower first. I will just snuggle the boy until he is done. Then MH can entertain the kiddos while I clean.
