Just seeing this, she is beautiful, congratulations! DS was 19.75” and exactly 7 pounds too. I hope recovery is going smoothly for you and that you’re not being hard on yourself if things didn’t go as planned. You’ve done an amazing job. <3

I feel so bad I have been so MIA these last few days. You guys are all so awesome.
After my last post here I went seriously down hill, like that might have been my last coherent thought that day.
I did end up getting 2 units of blood for my hemoglobin levels... my magnesium levels were toxic and my BP dipped to 70/40. They had to stop the mag which then scared everyone because for preeclampsia I was supposed to be on it for 24 hours to protect me from seizing. Extremely close monitoring resulted in me being on total bedrest for two days hooked up to EVERYTHING; BP cuff, oxygen monitor (oh yea, I was also requiring oxygen), catheter, SCDs (the leg pumps for blood clots). I had multiple IV fluids running. DH was amazing. He took care of the baby and did everything for me. They kept going back and forth on starting the magnesium again but they never did, which I for one was thankful for because it wasn't fun. So much of what happened on Thursday is a blur to me, I keep having to ask DH to clarify what went on. Friday was a little bit better. It was rougher on me I think because mentally I was doing better but I was still being monitored and confined to bed.
By the end of the day on Friday I was ready to climb out of bed I was getting so antsy. I was however trying to be a good patient and I was waiting for the nurse to give me permission. I knew it was in the works and I started slowly taking off what I could. I sat myself up and had one foot hanging off the bed. I called the nurse (which I had not been using the call light hardly at all because I was trying to not be needy) and I basically told her I HAD to get out of bed. I told her I took the leg pumps off and asked if I could take some other stuff off (BP cuff, oxygen monitor). She let me and let me know they were working on clearing me of a bunch of stuff so I could get out of bed. They almost didn't take my catheter out that night because they were worried about my urine output but then they decided that hey would thankfully. I got moved to postpartum that night and I was allowed to get up just to go to the bathroom. I did get to sit up in a wheelchair to watch DH give Evelyn her first bath and then they let me sit in a chair for a little bit just because I needed to not be in the bed any more.
I was and have been in a lot of pain. Trying really hard to take it easy while still moving around. We have been home since late on Sunday. DH is back to work already unfortunately. My mom spent the first night with me and I was alone last night. I have a friend here with me tonight.
Evelyn has been great for us here at home. She is a relatively happy baby and nursing is going really well. Hopefully now that we have settled in I will be here much more often!!

Oh my gosh nuggetrn. I've been wondering how you have been doing. I'm sorry you have been having such a hard recovery. I'm glad they were able to treat you so things didn't get worse. I hope the rest of your recovery goes well and I'm glad you have people to help you with the baby while your H is at work. Try to rest as much as possible.

Holy moly, what an ordeal! I'm so sorry your post partum was so rough, but I'm glad they were monitoring things so closely.
It's great you have a friend staying with you. Please don't be a hero and call on all the help you'll need. Cash in the offers! This is not the time to be shy!
Hugs to you and E!

I struggle with this immensely... but I am trying hard not to do that to myself. I am still recovering from a very difficult week. Also my BP is still not great and I got sent home on meds for that as well. So there is that added fun as well.

Also my BP is still not great and I got sent home on meds for that as well. So there is that added fun as well. I do too. So many people say "let me know if I can help" and really mean it. Our automatic response is to decline, like it's impolite to accept. But people like to be useful. If they can't do what you ask when you ask, they'll tell you. I've missed so many chances to have a friend babysit or bring food because I never call in the favors. When your heath is rocky and you've got a NB at home is THE TIME to ask for and accept help!

nuggetrn I've been thinking of you and wondering how you and baby were doing! Oh my goodness, you've been dealing with so much postpartum-wise, I'm so sorry it's been a rough ride. I'm glad that you're home and recovering. To piggyback on shadesofgold's strong encouragement to ask for help - I always want to decline because I assume it's just a platitude, but when I'm on the other side, I genuinely want to help and it makes me happy to help! One way I've found to make it easier to ask for help is to give specific options. So, ask if someone could either pick up milk/Advil/whatever from the store or drop off dinner. If it's friends that you're close with, ask for help with one specific chore (dishes, vacuuming, etc). For a lot of people, it actually helps to eliminate the guesswork of what they can do to help. Just an idea! Don't be afraid to lean into your village, that's what they're there for!
