Age: 2 years 7 months
Milestones: Just completed her first month of preschool! She goes two mornings a week until the end of June, and loves it. In August she'll start going five mornings a week. We decided to break her in gently.
Challenges: She's so tired after preschool! Which confirms to us that starting slowly was the right decision, but she finds it hard to listen when she's tired, so behaviour is more challenging.
Funny/cute stories: Yesterday we were playing with her teaset. She pressed more "tea" on me and said, "Drink up, Mummy! This tea comes from my cuddly cat's bottom!"
Five minutes ago H got home and she said, "I'm building a high house. I'm too busy to think about you, Daddy."
How are you? Sad and weary. I have finally recovered physically from my most recent chemical pregnancy and the bronchitis I went down with on the same day, so I'm going back to my regular exercise class tomorrow for the first time since early December. I'm nervous but I think it'll do me good.
QOTW: Any plans for Valentine's? Are you doing anything for your little one? Valentine's Day is very much a celebration for couples here, and H and I don't do anything in particular. I've never heard of or seen young children exchanging Valentines until I joined a US based message board! L did make a card for us at preschool last week (all schools have been off this week). I shared some conversation hearts with her! If she cares about it in future years we'll get her a card.

enchanted - How short did Little Miss go with her hair?! I'm curious how much you cut off. purple - I'm sorry about your loss. The board ate my previous post. Grrr... Age: 1 as of Saturday! Milestones: He's a walker. It's official. It's all he wants to do. Challenges: None really. He's been sleeping better, walking like a champ, eating all the things. I wish he was saying more words, but I'm starting to realize that J (my 4.5 YO DD) was very advanced, so I really can't compare the two with regard to milestones. His 1-year appointment is Saturday, so I guess we'll see if I have anything to be worried about LOL Funny/cute stories: His party was Saturday and he was just precious. He was happy, smiley, social and so very sweet the whole day, despite being exhausted. And he really got into the cake LOL How are you? Exhausted. Work is kicking my butt. QOTW: No real plans. We hung out last night. I got C a little car and a card. He carried them both around the house all morning before going to DC. Kids love cards, man LOL

purple sorry for your loss. Age: almost 3 Milestones: day potty trained (we used Oh Crap and it took more than 3 days, but really worked for him, I’m thrilled) Challenges: still being aggressive with words, does well with peers when I’m not around. We just finished a 6 week soccer class and it was horrible. The coach was amazing, but DS could not focus on the “drills” they were doing. I just don’t think he’s mature enough at this point. We will refocus our efforts on swimming lessons, just having a tough time that works with my schedule. Funny/cute stories: not really, just love him for being such a great helper to me when I need it (getting my shoes for me, turning off a light, throwing garbage away for me) How are you? So tired and bloated and just feeling frumpy. Getting a hair cut and eyebrow wax tomorrow to try and spruce myself up. Anything else? QOTW: Any plans for Valentine's? Are you doing anything for your little one? No v day plans, had dinner out this past weekend. DS got Valentines at his class today 3 out of about 8 kids brought them to exchange and of course we were not one of them, I don’t know what I was thinking other than no one mentioned it the week before so I just didn’t. Oh well, now I know.

Age: 3 Milestones: Is backtalking a milestone? Challenges: He’s a mouthy little thing lately. It’s hard to stay patient (and not laugh) with him. Funny/cute stories: H has been off work for about a week. Yesterday DS2 got mad at H and while he was pouting, he pretended to answer a call on my phone and said, “oh no! They need you on flight line! Go to work, Dad!”
It’s been a fucking week. I had a lot of bleeding (so extra bruising and pain) post-surgery. H broke his toe two days later, DS1 has had a stomach bug THREE TIMES in two weeks, and yesterday our furnace broke (already fixed fortunately). I need spring to get here ASAP.
QOTW: He didn’t really get why yesterday was special, but he was so excited about DS1’s school valentines and getting a little present (felt playmat with cars).

mirabelle With my all of one year of soccer coaching expertise, I can say that at that age, the goal of soccer is purely to introduce love of the game! If they learn to do anything correctly, that’s just a bonus I’m jealous Oh Crap worked for you! DS2 is an Oh Crap dropout. At least he usually pees in the toilet though. That does save buying as many pull-ups! purple I’m so sorry for your loss.

Age: 3 years
Milestones: First tooth fairy visit...
Challenges: Not really a challenge anymore-Dylan broke a tooth 3 months ago. Yesterday morning, woke up with a very swollen lip and had the tooth extracted. That was pretty traumatic. I'm assuming the next challenge will be going back. Will see Tuesday for his recheck.
Funny/cute stories: When H got home last night, Dylan said,"I have a pumpkin smile now!"
How are you? OK-not been on track with gym and diet, so I feel pretty anxious there.
Anything else? Not really.
QOTW: Any plans for Valentine's? Are you doing anything for your little one? Just a quiet evening at home. H says we'll go out this weekend for dinner, just us two, but I doubt it.

enchanted I'm impressed you can cut hair! Good luck with little Miss' finger. purple so sorry for your loss. Good luck with restarting exercise class. oldbaylover1024 DS took his time becoming verbal as well. I didn't have anyone to compare with, but I kept a log of the words he used consistently and at his 1 year and 18 month appoint, his Dr reassured me he was doing fine. Then he took off verbally and i realized I was worrying for no reason. Dr had said since he was meeting/surpassing other milestones, not to worry, that some kids just develop in different ways. Good luck! mirabelle Three is such a fun age! lol hawkward Hope you are all on the mend!!

purple , I am sorry for your loss. (((hugs))) Age: 4 Milestones: She's getting on the swing without being scared. When she was little she loved it and then for a couple of years it scared her. She's loving it again. Challenges: See below in the how are you section. Funny/cute stories: She tells me I'm her best friend all the time. Can I just bottle that up for when she's 13? Maybe I should record it to remind her then. lol How are you? Short version is that DH and I are not getting along at all. He's stressed about school and that causes him to completely check out and I feel totally isolated. He has absolutely no idea what is going on in my world and couldn't care less. Plus he didn't get me flowers for Vday this year - first time in our marriage - because he read some stupid article about the origins of Valentines Day. Like anyone even cares? It's about flowers, cards, chocolate, love. We are from different cultures/countries/religions. Anything else? Not really. QOTW: Any plans for Valentine's? Are you doing anything for your little one? We planned on baking cookies for her school party. It was a work night so I decided to take a short cut and get the store bought dough. I figured 4 years olds don't care - sugar is sugar. It ended up being way too soft and any time I tried to pick up the cookie after it had been cut it just lost its shape. So we made little packages with little lollipops for her friends instead. She came home with more candy than she did on Halloween! But she had fun with her school party.
