AW: First day of my new work-from-home job, guys! I left my non-profit, which had serious funding and leadership issues, and I feel like a new woman. I'm now consulting for another cool org that works in local public health, <30 per week, no commute. DS will continue at school, so I have time in my week to clean house and do yoga and, more importantly, listen to NPR as loud as I want in stretchy pants. (For 6 weeks before this baby gets here...) So, this is me today:

This paragraph from Bloomberg is so infuriating. Wtf is wrong with people?! "Back when he was president, Barack Obama told me that only two people treated any interaction with him as a zero-sum game. One was Vladimir Putin, the other congressional Republicans. Both behaved as if there was no such thing as a win-win situation: Any gain for Obama was a loss for them, and any gain for them must also entail a loss for Obama. The moment that the Russian president or congressional Republicans saw he wanted something, they went to work trying to keep him from getting it -- even if it was something they might otherwise have approved of." www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2018-02-09/has-anyone-seen-the-president

Thanks, dc2london - I had no idea! I just figured it was the latest in a long line of Sessions being an asshole (which, to be fair, he does a lot). Insert “The More You Know” gif here

Nunes is going after Brennan next. Seriously, we have to get his opponent elected. This guy needs to become irrelevant.

This is fine. With war possibly on the horizon, the israelis are very concerned about the Trump administration: “We do not altogether understand what this administration wants to achieve,” t.co/SCXdGYSXGI

I can’t with the Middle East situation right now. Things could go very badly at any moment and we have Trump and his sycophants at the helm? Fuck.
I miss Obama’s steady hand so much right now. I didn’t always agree with his foreign policy, but it was clear that he was always thoughtful about it, trying to do what he thought was best for both the US and the world. God, I hate the current nationalist rhetoric. 😢

How do they get away with this feigned concern over the national debt? It's maddening.

How do they get away with this feigned concern over the national debt? It's maddening. Well Trump's own DNI just told SSCI that the national debt is the biggest threat we face.

Just popping in to share this little tidbit from the hearing.
WOW. Cotton asked Wray if the FBI's position is still that the Steele Dossier is "salacious and unverified" and Wray says that he can't answer that in an open setting. Which means they've definitely verified at least some of it.

Here WIC works like food stamps - you use it at the grocery store on a select category of things. I'm pretty sure the "WIC office" is where you go to sign up, see case managers and access other programming. I've noticed at Kroger/king soopers they have "WIC eligible" tags near the price on grocery items. I think they should do that everywhere. And on all items that are eligible. At least here I only see it on packaged snack items, vs fresh produce or canned fruits or frozen veggies. Maybe they’re assuming people just know those are covered, and I know people can choose what they like, but I dislike advertising only on “junk” food vs healthier food, especially when I think it’s important to make produce and dairy more affordable and accessible to everyone.

I’m at an event with a legislative aide to Sen. Alexander. Anyone want to send a message? Tell the aide Alexander needs to visit the wizard and get a fucking heart. ETA: Obviously kidding. I write and/or call Alexander every day, so he knows my thoughts.

Something else of note that came out of today's SSCI hearing is that Director Wray totally blew up the WH version of events regarding Rob Porter.

I just dont get it.
