I wanted to update you on the school situation. S officially moved into the the PreK classroom on Monday, after doing a few days trial last week. He is the youngest kid there, but there are only 10 kids in the class (there were like 19 in his old one). It is amazing. In just a few days, he has learned more than he did in months in the old class. He is writing his name, learning to spell things. It is mind blowing. I am so happy with the decision. And he is so excited to go to school every day! This is great news!

Every single day her teachers say something to me. They all recognize that she needs to move up, but there isn't room in the next class until closer to summer. I hate that she is so bored every single day.

I am shocked at how sore I am from throwing up the other day! Muscles I didn't even know I had are hurting. It was a quick bug, I can't imagine if it'd been a long one! Yikes.

Greetings - just a workday here. J's school has an international potluck tomorrow. J suggested we bring pizza and juice boxes.. Everyone has interesting ethnic foods, I feel so boring. But also not about to make swedish meatballs.. so LaCroix it is!

Quiet day here. Big kids had a delayed start for icy roads. C and I went food shopping and had the slowest check out girl ever. She couldn't identify a lot of produce, I had to tell her I was buying asparagus.
T has been my shadow. He told me he wants to follow me everywhere I go and he cried a few times at school recently that he wanted me to come get him or one of the teachers could drive him home. He's never been like that so I guess now he knows I'm not working.
The cake I baked yesterday is stuck in my cake cover thing. The plate was a perfect fit and is now stuck in the lid. It's the same plate and cover I always use so I don't know what went wrong. I have to figure out how to rescue it.

We are somewhere way back when German so I ordered a platter of hot pretzels from the Philly Pretzel Factory. My kid said they were a big hit.

DH has to go to Boston for a Bruins game on Sat night and accept some sort of award or donation or something for work. No tickets for C and I so he is going solo. He gets to sit in the luxury box too. Then Sunday morning he has a charity walk for work in Boston. I am the best wife ever so I booked him a night at a nice hotel there so he doesn't have to drive back and forth. Valentine's day is done!

That's great about S' transition, @73jewels! We always deal with that for a few months before Dude moves up, mskatiep. It's rough!

So today I learned we'll be paying $450 month for Dude's after school and TK wraparound program for the next two years.
Excuse me while I go hyperventilate.

I think ours would be around $550/mo for our child care/after school care associated with young 5's, but fortunately we will only need the child care piece 1-3 days a week. Plus, the program is only 3 hours a day, so it is a decent amount of child care.

Re the job: it’s only 8 hours a week, but in a very big organisation, so I’m hoping that once I have my foot between the door this will lead to more.
Normal notification time is a month / 2 months over here. But since I’m not leaving my current job, just going to work less hours, this is a little different. My boss boss is my aunt, so I might get a little more leeway.
Anyway, I’m so freaking exited!!!

flamingo yummeecookee - my calendar from day care says it dental hygiene month. I just thought it was just a thing at our school but maybe it's a thing everywhere. We have a pediatric dentist come visit and bring the kids toothbrushes and stuff (Along with business cards) Great marketing for that dentist's office! However, we are not going to the dental museum. I didn't even know such a thing existed. I'd be curious to see what it entails. A lot of old toothbrushes, dental tools, dental chairs, skulls, a play dentist office area and wait for it......... George Washington’s dentures!! LOL. This is hysterical. And weird.

I believe that's about what we will be paying too. But till whenever the kids are old enough to come home on their own. I looked into it a few weeks ago.

Since I WAH, he could just come home when he's done, but since TK/K are only half day that is A LOT of time to just sit around entertaining himself while I finish work. I'd be okay with it once he's in first grade and has a longer school day. He'd have about an hour to decompress and eat a snack before I finish work and that seems fine for a 7 year-old, I think.

Humph, yeah with a half day program, even full day, after care/PT nanny/au pair seems to be the norm to cover the hours between school ending and work ending. We anticipate $500 a month per kid once in ES for this, plus thousands for camps in the summer. I am going to keep pretending kids get cheaper after daycare, but I'm not holding my breath.

Bc this is a lot cheaper than DC. This is what I was thinking. Even in FL, which is low-medium COL wise, that is about what my working friends pay for after-school care.

nam2013 they’re super easy to make, the base is a red velvet cake mix plus a couple other ingredients. Happy to share the recipe if you’d like. They turn out like this: ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180208/826417c9ba06587cf06731a172dbfa5f.jpg)
