The first of the Numair books comes out tomorrow. I know there are Tamora Pierce fans here, who's excited? And who's willing to discuss it with me?

I am so behind. I didn't even know this was out. I'm going to have to track down an audiobook version.
I've met Tamora Pierce btw and she's super cool and easy to talk to.

I'm in the fan FB group and she's a member. She's awesome. I love interacting with her there. I wish I could meet her in person. Her book tour isn't coming anywhere close to me though. And it comes out tomorrow, so not so far behind

I will admit I've never read a Tamora Pierce novel, but I own a few. I keep meaning to, but the stack gets bigger every day that books exist, haha.
So, should I try to go to this tour, even if it's a little bit of a drive away for me (2.5-3hrs)?

It is sooooo good. What books do you have?

Or maybe one of the other Circle series books, I'm not exactly sure. My book stack is constantly growing. MrRama has given up all hope of ever getting me to read anything he suggests because I don't get around it to for minimum three years. Or, at least, I think I got to the Dark Tower series that quickly. Usually it's nearly or over a decade. I just like the premise of so many books and have so little time to actually read them. So I keep buying books, meaning to read them, and then I have more books to read when I actually sit down. I'm pretty sure I'm mid-book on four novels right now (plus a birthing book) and I have no idea what is happening in my life.

The crow guy Nawat was my favourite. The will of the empress is like number 9 in a series. I wouldn't start with it at all. I honestly don't remember what it's about but I wasn't a huge fan of the circle universe.

Actually, now that I'm looking at the list of books on her page, I might also have one of the Song of the Lioness books and I'm pretty sure I have Beka Cooper, too. I really should read her books, I hear nothing but praise for them.

But yeah, you have to read the first two Emelan quartets for it to make any sense.

She's had a pretty dry spell lately. The Spy's Guide came out in October, but it's not a novel and is mostly background on the world, which is awesome and you should get it and read it, but it's not important for T&S

If you can, get the SotL books first and read them. I prefer to read the books in publication order because even though they have different main characters, it's fun to watch the other characters grow and the world evolve in the peripheral.

Yes. Read them in order if possible. My favourite series was Kel's, but a lot of the characters in Sotl appear so it helps to know their background.

So...pub order or chronological order? I found a list of the chrono order, would that be unwise?

So...pub order or chronological order? I found a list of the chrono order, would that be unwise? Publication. The bekka Cooper books are first chronologically but they begin with a letter by one of the characters of SotL. So there is at least a small expectation that you know what happens there. It won't ruin anything but there are some things you may not appreciate in the books as much if you haven't read at least SotL first.

I'm so excited! I've been a fan since middle school, when I found Wild Magic at the school library.
I met Tamora Pierce at a signing when Squire came out, and she was so nice and friendly. She was only supposed to be personalizing messages in the copies of Squire, but my little sister had also grabbed Wolf Speaker from home to get autographed because that was her favorite. Tamora Pierce asked why we had the brand new copy of Squire and a super well-read paperback of Wolf Speaker, and when we told her she wrote a personal note to us in it. It's my favorite autograph because of that.
