Ok. Just got my second draw numbers.
First draw - 5542 5w2d Second draw - 9851 5w4d
They did not double and I did these exactly 48 hours apart. The nurse said my first number was high and sometimes when it's high like that they take longer to double. They are having a MW call me at my request which I'm sure I'll miss because of my flight.
Anyone else ever been in this situation or know a friend of a friend blah blah blah. I wish I never did these.
ETA I have a scribbled note from last week where it says they want the numbers to grow by 60%. I don't know what this means but 5542/9851 = 56. I don't even know if I'm doing this the right way. I don't want to miss her call!!

I am not an expert.
If they want the numbers to grow by 60%, it seems like they did? 5542 x 1.6 = 8867, and your second draw is higher than that!
I'm sorry you're waiting on a call, but I hope you get the call asap and they can ease your nerves. Hugs, lady!

Those numbers look great! We use doubling as a standard for easy math, but in reality anything over 60% increase is what they're looking for. You were so close to doubling so I'd say all looks great!

So many hugs rebeccabunch , I totally understand that feeling of uncertainty and wishing you didn't have them done. I had levels checked this pregnancy at 7 weeks. I was having occasional spotting, but as a precaution the first thing my OB had checked was betas. My first number was high and the nurse was so positive and excited when she called me.... the 48 hour number... she was very quiet and cautious. My number increased, but nowhere near doubled. I was at a 6-7 day doubling time. I was so anxious for the two days before I went in for an ultrasound where they found a beautiful heartbeat and a small SCH. I did some reading on my own and found many articles and sites say after 6 weeks an ultrasound is recommended over betas because the doubling time does increase as you get further along, especially if the first number is high. I know you are 5-6w, but every pregnancy is different and I hope you can stay positive! I attempted to link a couple sites. The first has a graph with levels by week and some other info that called me down a bit. The second is a calculator that gives you your doubling time. Anyway, sorry for the long post. I'll be thinking of you and keeping everything crossed! I am still here at almost 23 weeks, despite a similar scare. Hcg LevelsBeta Calculator

Guys! Thank you all for your genuine concern and helpful info. pippiann nice to see you pop in here for me! I looked at thecatsmeow 's links. This shows that I grew by 77.8% so more than 60% like CoachTsWife said. Maybe I'm having a total freak out over nothing. I'm just not sure how to interpret my scribble note about 60%. I really want my MW to call me. Thank you all so much. I'm just going to read and reread what you wrote over and over.

Just going to agree with everyone else that it's a good sign they are well above the 60% rise they wanted to see! I hope you get to talk to your MW soon. And totally +1 with betas being a mindfuck.

Add me to the club that knows zero about betas, but I'm glad to see others say that this looks promising! Sending you good thoughts, hopefully you get to talk to your MW soon.

Thinking of you! From what I know, I'll second what others have said about the doubling slowing down as you get further along and being at least 60%! FX for you!

Numbers look brilliant! Hope you got your call and I think thecatsmeow , explained it perfectly. Also numbers are very high. Is this your 2nd beta or 1st? NM. I just saw your post in today's randoms. We ( IVFers ) typically have multiple beta draws to have confirmation - at least 3-4.

That would not happen to me. I'm the opposite of the zen you need for multiples.

Your betas are great! As everyone said, as long as you are over 60% at 48 hours, you're good to go. As your pregnancy advances, the betas also tapper off in their rate of increase, which is why they will move from betas to ultrasounds by week 6/7.
For DS, I had very similar betas to yours (first draw in the 5600s and second draw in the 9900s), and DS is now a rambunctious little 2 yr old. 😀
