Does anyone have ideas for jogging with kids when they outgrow strollers? DS just turned 5, is pretty tall and over the weight limit for our BOB revolution dualie. We push him and DD (1.5years). The buckles are starting to get tight, and the weight distribution is becoming problematic.
DS is also ADHD and on the spectrum, so getting him to jog for longer than a quarter mile is a struggle. I’m not sure biking would work that well either.

I purposely try not to run with my kids, so I never did the stroller running.
But, my 6 year old has been "running" since he was 3. He loves to do races (kid races by himself, or 5ks with me). If we go run together, either recreationally or for a race, I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that we will be walking a lot. So I let him set the pace and just tag along.
For your son, I'd start with a quarter mile, then maybe walk a quarter mile, then see how he feels. Does he want to run again? Or is he tapped out? As with every runner, that distance will increase with time (either by interest or age)

I run with DD now and have since she was 5. I basically started her with c25k but longer. She’s adhd and it’s done wonders for her. But if that doesn’t work with your DS I think your options are more limited. There’s bike handles where you can push while he rides - but that’d mean you couldn’t also push the stroller. There are bike trailers that can change to running that may work as they have a higher weight limit I had a chariot I think. Or join a gym to use the treadmill. Or use a track so he’s contained

Or use a track so he’s contained Oooohhhh branching off this: I have friends who used to run around a track so their kids could play in the middle, and they could keep an eye on them. There's also a playground by my house with a sidewalk encircling it. Its about a quarter mile around. I have brought my kids to the playground and run the perimeter on occasion before when I only want to get a mile or two in.

Is there a track near you? That seems like the best for being contained and potentially going different paces.
Or, when I was 6 my dad used to take me to a trail where a I would ride my bike and he would run. My daughter is only 2 now, but I’d like to do something like that with her when she’s a little bigger.

We usually run as a family, so breaking the kids up would be doable. DH could push one kid and I could push the other. We do have a few local tracks, but our route is beautifully scenic and kind of therapy in addition to exercise. I can track run, I just don’t love it the same.
DS did successfully complete a few hikes this fall, and we’ve been letting him out at the end of our jogs. Thanksgiving kids fun run did not go well, but crowds, and noise and lots of variables. Maybe a push bike/working on his jogging more consistently would be a good place to start.

My 3.5 year old is outgrowing the BOB (we have a single, and the height limit is 44", she's currently 42" and growing), and we have #2 on the way this summer (no double stroller planned). We're hoping to get her riding a bike, and to go that way, since we typically go as a family, and all on sidewalks/bikepaths on our normal route. At her request, we've also let her run right at the beginning for maybe a quarter mile, and she does great, but is ready for a rest at that point.
