McCabe stepping down early may just be him being like "fuck it I am out" but this administration's dysfunction makes me take a step back and assume the worst, always. It's quite annoying. Same.

McCabe is stepping down but staying on until March, which sounds like it was his plan all along (retirement). The plan was to retire in march but not to step down a month before his retirement date. That's the strange part. I think he was forced out. It is extremely common for people to burn up their leave right before retirement. Nothing even remotely strange about it.

The comments in that tweet say that McCabe can now be a witness in the obstruction case. Do we buy that as plausible?

Yeah he was scheduled to retire. But this leave wasn't previously planned. Seems like he is using the leave tosleep his retirement date and benefits.

We're talking about the deputy director of the FBI who has been consistently attacked by both the president and congressional republicans. There's been a swirl of controversy surrounding him. If there wasn't something strange going on and they wanted to avoid controversy then he'd stay on and retire in a month.

But the headlines on CBS are not comforting me right now.

GhoatMonket - I admit that sometimes yes, I jump to conclusions, this administration's bullshit and constant lying does not help the situation.
However, I will respectfully disagree with you on this one - I think every one who has been following McCabe (and with everything that came out last week) has a legitimate reason to be concerned here and think that some shit here, stinks. Because on its face, it does.
Hopefully it is just him saying "fuck this craziness I am out" and there's a good chance it is, but there's also a good chance it is not, because well, shit it crazy right now. Lol.
We aren't living in "normal" times right now.

The simplest explanation could certainly be the correct one, but I don't like Trump and his minions in Congress thinking they can just wage a Twitter smear campaign against anyone they don't like and get rid of him.

An interesting thread on internalized racism in allies. Yes, I think it is so important to separate the idea of good person/bad person from racism. We are all racist. We live in and directly and indirectly support structural and endemic racism. We have to work to fight our own internalized racist ideas. When toulink that to good and bad it just shuts people down. So important to confront bias.

New bipartisan DACA proposal released by the house. Unless I'm missing something there's no way that's enough wall funding for Trump. I loled that they named themselves the problem solvers.

The lengths and mental gymnastics that the right is using to discredit anything/anyone remotely connected to the russia investigation is deeply unsettling.

McCabe had no plans to leave as of Friday, was told to leave this morning. Conservatives are having a field day. Apparently Wray saw the Nunes memo yesterday. Right. The main issue as I see it is that this "gives credence" to Nunes' claim that Trump/Carter Paige/et all were illegally wiretapped. It's not like getting a FISA warrant is easy in the first place, plus you also have to repeatedly prove that the surveillance is fruitful for it to continue. But they don't want the public to know that, they want people to think this w as governmental overreach. Oh and also ignore that the surveillance did result in the uncovering of crimes. Ugh I hate the GOP so much.

With McCabe gone, that's everyone who can corroborate Comey's testimony. Can he not still corroborate under oath as a private citizen? (Legit question. I mean, he’s not deputy director anymore but does that erase what he’s seen and done in that job role? Or is he legally not allowed to discuss if he’s not in the position?) Ps, hey everyone- sorry I haven’t been around much lately, been adjusting to life with an infant. With SOTU this week though, I figured it was a good time to jump back in

Surprise SHS is running late for the briefing.
It will be interesting to see how many times she can say "we just want a fair investigation into this witch hunt; theres nothing to see here; we told you the secret society within the DOJ was out to get us" when asked about McCabe

How is the little squish? I would think he could speak more freely now without fear of professional retribution, but I'm very much an uninformed armchair QB on these matters.

I hope the OP’s mom comes to understand why she was wrong because there’s a lot to unpack with that particular internal bias. My heart hurt for the OP, but I really appreciated that she was willing to share her experience.
