jewels At the end of the day what you can do is gather all the information you have, and make a decision. They are letting you have a trial run at it so i dont really get what the decision is. I'm all for team challenge and move up. Set the bar high and adjust from there, not the other way around. If that even makes sense. ETA: That sounds a bit snotty, sorry not my intention at all.

C's hives were gone this morning so I think it was an allergic reaction and not just bad eczema. Not sure what caused it though. I had already given him melatonin last night and then the Benadryl when he showed me his legs so he really needed to sleep. He fell out of the bed at 10:30, which he has never done. Poor guy was just so out of it. I let him sleep until he woke up naturally this morning and just came to work a little later (still early but late for me). He also peed his pants a little trying to make it to the bathroom this morning. But he has only had 3 accidents total in 8 days and only 1 was actually in bed. The other 2 were him trying to run to the bathroom and not make it. So I am feeling good about night training. Once he is night trained my parents will take him for sleepovers sometimes so I have a lot of motivation!
Boring day at work. I had two meetings that were cancelled, which is annoying because I shuffled stuff around for them. Also one of my jobs is assisting the special offender specialist and he just got an offer in San Francisco and will be moving in 8 weeks. I'm so sad because we work really well together and I am unsure who will take over. Change sucks.

Morning Ladies We got the bathroom painted this weekend and it's already a million times better. However, now H wants to start tearing out walls...this is how all remodeling projects go in my house. I had him occupied putting up new baseboard downstairs while I worked on the bathroom with my son, but somehow he got in there and started sniffing around and making plans. I am about to pull the trigger on 3 (gulp) Diono carseats this morning. Goodbye monies. They are 50% off on Zulilly for one day if anyone needs one...or three. I need to brush up on the recall first, but I think it's inevitable that we need to replace all the Britax seats because they are so bulky. Cry face.

I hope S does well and enjoys himself, jewels . And I totally get you re: talking it to death. Our cut off is December 15, and I could talk about the pros and cons of starting kindergarten all day long. lol. You and I would be super fun at a party. At least to each other

Morning!
Haven't read yet, just popping in to say hi. It's cold and rainy here...yay. Flamingos are not cut out for this kind of weather.
B is at school and has an ENT appt. this afternoon, I think it is time for his tubes to come out. Has anyone had their kiddo's removed yet? If so, do they have to put them under anesthesia or can it be done in-office?

I'm all for team challenge and move up. Set the bar high and adjust from there, not the other way around. If that even makes sense. Yes, I see what your saying. My issues are: 1) I over analyze and think every decision to death. 2) He will go to Kindergarten at normal time, so my original concern was if I move him up now, is he going to be bored in public K in 1.5 years? (DC has a private K program and if I move him to PreK now, he'll do the private K next year then public in Sept 2019) 3) these kids have been in this class since July (with the exception of S BFF who has been since like October), will S be behind them? Did he miss stuff? 4) About a third of his current DC class is in our district and going to our elementary school, so the current kids are the kids he will wind up being with. Why push him up now if he's just going to wind up back with these kids? However, I found out that the private K program is very small b/c our town just started full day K. so as of right now, the PreK class is the younger preK kids and the older ones joined w/ the K kids, so next year will be the same, and regardless of what I decide, S will probably be in the K class next year with the older kids from his class now. I don't know if I explained that well. I confused myself while typing it. Anyway, I guess at this point I will see how he does today (he was SOOOO excited) and I have a conference with the PreK teacher on Friday to discuss. If we are going to do it, I need to pull the trigger fast or I will keep second guessing the decision.

jewels I agonized over the kindergarten decision with my July born 5 y/o, so I get it. I think it's great that you get the trial run, and I think you will get a gut feeling once you see how it goes. I will say though, that your reason #4 is compelling...it's nice to make and maintain connections with families in your district. However, I will say I have kept in touch with families from my son's pre-school which was out of district too, so not a deal breaker. If he's really excited, that's a good sign he may be ready!

jewels your situation is why I do not need choices, lol. B/c I tend to agonize...drives my H crazy! There probably isn't a right or wrong answer, I do think it so depends on the kid. Hopefully the meeting with the teacher will give you some clarity. kim22 ugh, when it rains it pours. I hope the rest of 2018 will be happy and *healthy* for y'all!

Morning Ladies *snip* I think I need to do this but I'm in deep denial. You and me both, but I figure if it's inevitable, I would like to to get the $120 off per seat. I emailed customer service to verify that these are the current year, and not like close to expiration or something. I'll let you know what I hear.

Sorry if this gets long. So, both kids see a family practice doctor (Dr. L) instead of the pediatrician (Dr. E) for no reason other than that my sister uses the family practice doc for her kids and recommended her and the pediatrician was due around the same time I was with N so would've been on maternity leave. We live in a small town and both of these doctors are friends of my sister, so I know them both and see them socially often.
Anyway, a part of me wants to switch to Dr E. We have seen her a few times when Dr L isn't available and she is just so much more thorough. I feel like Dr. L is too casual toward us because we are friends. Any time I have a concern, she seems to shrug it off like it's nothing, which it might be, but I just want to given a little more attention. H's 2yr will be coming up and I have some concerns (like his height I mentioned last week). I feel like Dr L would say it's nothing but Dr E would at least give me the time of day to talk about it.
Typing this out, I feel like I know the right thing to do, but I just don't know how! Obviously my kids' health comes first, but it's just awkward. Do I tell Dr. L I will be seeing Dr E or just schedule H's appt with Dr E and not say anything?
TLDR: I want to switch the kids' doctor, but know them both personally. How should I handle this?

I should probably get one too, we need a 2nd seat in DH's car. Is it true that Diono are good for 10 years instead of 5? We have 1 already and I thought that's what I read.

Coworker asked me to come to her desk when I got a chance to look at eye glass frames(she doesn't make any decisions on her own). I told her I would come up when I got a chance. She then started messaging me links to all of the frames. Seriously? I said I would come up when I could, that doesn't mean you blow up my messenger. Plus, she and I don't have similar tastes at all and I think everything she is sending me is ugly.

dapostrophe which 3 kids are the Dionos for? If one is for E, I’d skip and just get a harnessed high back booster like the graco tranzitions (at babies r us). That will save you money and you’re not paying for features you won’t use.

jewels 2-I think that any change at this age, whether that be kids, classroom, teachers etc are enough to keep them interested, so I dont think that being bored in 1.5 years would happen. I would be more concerned with him being bored staying with the status quo 3-Since it is just daycare I dont think there is a 'behind', again set the bar high and let S rise to the challenge 4-i dont think you an look at it from a whole class perspective, think of S only and since he seems excited, i'd definitely go with it. Not sure if you were looking for a response, i'm sure you've though of everything, just an outside perspective.

Since you’re friends maybe I’d say something but otherwise I don’t think you need to inform the office staff.

Birthday parties now give me massive anxiety, LOL. This weekend's party was pretty interesting though. The birthday boy is among the oldest in the preschool class and Colin has always stayed friendly with a few other of the "older" kids from that group. But seeing them all together, including the kids who are 9 and 10 months younger than Colin? Whoa. I try to remember just how much Colin has come along in the last year but it's really hard to picture him with those kids when he fits in seamlessly with his own class. Yet I will continue to obsess about this for the next ~7 months. Or maybe forever, haha.

I like the Dionos because they are all-in-ones and they have a booster mode weight capacity up to 120 lbs. Plus, I need three to fit across the back seat, which these are known for.

slenle I would just book an appointment with Dr E for the well visit, you have concerns and they are important, which you know. After that just continue to book with Dr E, I dont think there has to be a 'break up' talk.

slenle I would make the switch and not mention it; it's hard when there are personal relationships involved, but you have the perfect excuse in that Dr. E is an actual pediatrician, and if it ever comes up (hopefully it won't) you could just say something to that effect.

I could be looking at the wrong model but I'm not crazy about the Dione because it doesn't look like recline as much as an infant seat so how the hell are they suppose to fall asleep in that thing? And it's not a travel system type seat so if they do manage to fall asleep then what? I can't take them out and carry them around it? But, like I said, I may have no other options.

I know one in his canal and that's what they are going to try to do, but as for the one that's still in place it sounds like we might be headed for another surgery. I'll be interested in hearing what they say they want to do for B.
